The chapter was then closed , and the companions adjourned to the banquet . The customary toasts followed . " The Health of the M . E . Z . " was proposed in able terms by the l . P . Z .

Comp . Ayling . in reply , expressed his satisfaction at seeing so many companions present . His year of office had commenced well , and he hoped that that prosperity would continue . He very much regretted that indisposition had prevented the worthy Treasurer from attending that evening . Personally , he felt his absence to be a great loss and the only damper on the proceedings .

" The Exaltees followed , and was duly acknowledged by Comps Griffin and Austin . Comp . W . Lee , in responding for "The Visitors , " paid a high compliment to the M . E . Z . and the officers for the almost perfect way in which they had discharged their duties . He said that the Kennington Chapter was favoured by having several Past Principals among its members , who

were capable of holding their own with any of the best workers of the Royal Arch Degree in London or elsewhere . In conclusion , he said that he had spent a most instructive and pleasant evening . Comps . Harvey , Hollins , and others , spoke in similar complimentary terms .

"The second and third Principals followed . In speaking upon this toast , the M . E . Z . especially paid a high compliment to Comp . H . J . Lardner , for his rendering the symbolical address . The toasts of "The Treasurer and S . E ., " and "The Officers , " terminated a most enjoyable evening .

WHITBY . —Britannia Chapter ( No . 312 ) . —A convocation of this chapter was held at the Masonic Hall , West Cliff , on Monday , the 3 rd inst ., when there were present Comps . W . H . After the transaction of the usual routine business , including the proposition of a brother for exaltation , the chapter was closed in due form , after which the companions met and spent a pleasant evening together .

GREAT STANMORE . — Stanmore Chapter ( No . 1549 ) . —The last regular convocation of this steadily increasing and successful chapter was held at the Abercorn Hotel , on the 14 th ult ., and was well attended . Four candidates had been accepted on the ballot for exaltation ,

but one only was able to attend , and the remainder will doubtless ( with others who are announced ) be present at an emergency meeting which is expected to be held during the winter months . The chapter was well represented by Comps . J . Fickle , M . E . Z . ; B . Haynes , H . ; Dr . Rogers

Z ., who , with the assistance of his officers , exalted Bro . W , T . Buck , P . M . 1702 , to the rank of R . A . M . The whole ceremony was admirably worked , and our new companion may well

congratulate himself on seeing this ceremony so ably performed in all its branches . On the M . E . Z . resuming the chair , a notice of motion by Comp . Jacobs , P . Z ., "That the installation meeting in future be held in September instead of July" was discussed , but adjourned until the next meeting , that absent companions may have an opportunity of being present . Various small matters having

been disposed of , and hearty good wishes duly noted from all visitors , the chapter was then closed . The companions afterwards enjoyed a substantial dinner , very ably presided over by the M . E . Z ., who gave the accustomed toasts with his usual ability , and especially

that of " The Visitors , " who were on all occasions accorded a hearty welcome to Stanmore . On returning thanks they each complimented the chapter on the efficient working , and fully confirmed the high encomiums passed by Sir Francis Burdett at the last Provincial Grand Chapter which was held at Stanmore .

Several companions enlivened the evening with harmony , and with "The Health of the Principals , Past Principals , and Officers , " and the Janitor ' s toast , a very agreeable evening was closed .

A solemn convocation at their Grand East , 33 , Goldensquare , was held on Tuesday last . At noon the Supreme Council , 33 ° , met for Home , Foreign , and Colonial Correspondence ; At 2 . 45 the Grand Consistory of S . P . R . S ., 32 ; at 3 . 45 the Sovereign Tribunal of G . I . I . C , 31 ; 31 4 . 45 the Grand Chapter of III . Gd . El . Kts . K . H ., 30 ° ; the 30 , 31 , and 32 Degrees were conferred on a number of candidates . The brethren dined togetherat the Cate Royal

Since the last meeting of the Supreme Council , the lodge and Ante-rooms , together with the offices and other parts of the premises , have been re-decorated , and now presents a most attractive appearance . A style has been adopted which shows an harmonius blending ol colour in strict accordance with Masonic requirements . The lodge room itself is now one of the prettiest in London , and the authorities are to be congratulated on providing such a useful and attractive suite of rooms for Masonic purposes .

Comp . Ayling . in reply , expressed his satisfaction at seeing so many companions present . His year of office had commenced well , and he hoped that that prosperity would continue . He very much regretted that indisposition had prevented the worthy Treasurer from attending that evening . Personally , he felt his absence to be a great loss and the only damper on the proceedings .

" The Exaltees followed , and was duly acknowledged by Comps Griffin and Austin . Comp . W . Lee , in responding for "The Visitors , " paid a high compliment to the M . E . Z . and the officers for the almost perfect way in which they had discharged their duties . He said that the Kennington Chapter was favoured by having several Past Principals among its members , who

were capable of holding their own with any of the best workers of the Royal Arch Degree in London or elsewhere . In conclusion , he said that he had spent a most instructive and pleasant evening . Comps . Harvey , Hollins , and others , spoke in similar complimentary terms .

"The second and third Principals followed . In speaking upon this toast , the M . E . Z . especially paid a high compliment to Comp . H . J . Lardner , for his rendering the symbolical address . The toasts of "The Treasurer and S . E ., " and "The Officers , " terminated a most enjoyable evening .

GREAT STANMORE . — Stanmore Chapter ( No . 1549 ) . —The last regular convocation of this steadily increasing and successful chapter was held at the Abercorn Hotel , on the 14 th ult ., and was well attended . Four candidates had been accepted on the ballot for exaltation ,

congratulate himself on seeing this ceremony so ably performed in all its branches . On the M . E . Z . resuming the chair , a notice of motion by Comp . Jacobs , P . Z ., "That the installation meeting in future be held in September instead of July" was discussed , but adjourned until the next meeting , that absent companions may have an opportunity of being present . Various small matters having

been disposed of , and hearty good wishes duly noted from all visitors , the chapter was then closed . The companions afterwards enjoyed a substantial dinner , very ably presided over by the M . E . Z ., who gave the accustomed toasts with his usual ability , and especially

that of " The Visitors , " who were on all occasions accorded a hearty welcome to Stanmore . On returning thanks they each complimented the chapter on the efficient working , and fully confirmed the high encomiums passed by Sir Francis Burdett at the last Provincial Grand Chapter which was held at Stanmore .

Several companions enlivened the evening with harmony , and with "The Health of the Principals , Past Principals , and Officers , " and the Janitor ' s toast , a very agreeable evening was closed .

At noon the Supreme Council , 33 ° , met for Home , Foreign , and Colonial Correspondence ; At 2 . 45 the Grand Consistory of S . P . R . S ., 32 ; at 3 . 45 the Sovereign Tribunal of G . I . I . C , 31 ; 31 4 . 45 the Grand Chapter of III . Gd . El . Kts . K . H ., 30 ° ; the 30 , 31 , and 32 Degrees were conferred on a number of candidates . The brethren dined togetherat the Cate Royal

Since the last meeting of the Supreme Council , the lodge and Ante-rooms , together with the offices and other parts of the premises , have been re-decorated , and now presents a most attractive appearance . A style has been adopted which shows an harmonius blending ol colour in strict accordance with Masonic requirements . The lodge room itself is now one of the prettiest in London , and the authorities are to be congratulated on providing such a useful and attractive suite of rooms for Masonic purposes .
