Shortly before seven o clock the brethren sat down to a sump tuous banquet , provided at the Council Chamber in first-class style by Bro . John Hamlen , of the Queen ' s Hotel . The handsome and lofty room , which was specially admired

by the visitors , had been artistically decorated with Masonic emblems , & c , by Bro . S . Knight , jun ., while the table decorations displayed unusually good taste , being kindly undertaken by Mrs . Harrold . The occupants of the head table were as a matter of fact almost hidden from view by the handsome epergnes and vases , which were filled with the choicest fruits and flowers , the bulk of the latter being

A pretty little buttonhole pose was provided for each of the brethren , who wore their distinctive collars of office , and the tout ensemble , when all were seated , was extremely effective and pleasing . The W . M . presided at the subsequent banquet , which was well served in the lodge refreshment room . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , and a pleasant evening was spent , several of the brethren contributed to the harmony of the meeting with songs .

M . presided , and , dinner being over , the usual Masonic toast list was gone through and many complimentary references were made to the Master on his assuming the rule of the lodge for the second time . The toast of " The Visitors " was acknowledged by the Mayor . " The Health of the W . M . " was proposed by Bro . iVI . Emanuel , and duly honoured and responded to , and other toasts followed .

The usual toasts followed . The M . E . Z . presided most genially , and during the evening Comps . Weeks , Nash , Harlow , and others entertained thc companions by their dramitic and vocal efforts . The proceedings , which were throughout most successful , terminated at an early hour .

Z ., in proposing the toast of " The Three Grand Principals , thc Earl of Lathom , the Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , Lord Leigh , and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " referred in feeling terms to the death of Comp . Col . Shadwell H . Clerke , G . S . E . Comp . I . T . Collins , Prov . G . H ., responded .

The Al . E . Z . next submitted the toast ot "The M . E . G . Superintendent , Lord Leigh , and the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , Present and Past , " it being honoured in a cordial manner . Comp . J . T . Collins , Prov . G . H ., responded , and referred to the long services of the Grand Superintendent , and said that , although he did not come amongst them as frequently as in times past , he was none the less interested in his

province . Comp . F . G . Swinden , Prov . G . S . E ., also responded , and spoke of the 25 years' services Comp . E . Worrall had given as Prov . G . S . E ., and mentioned that it was intended to make a presentation to that worthy companion , and announced that at the last Prov . Grand Chapter Comp .

E . Worrall was appointed Prov . G . J . Comp . J . Fenn , P . P . G . S . B . Dorset , also responded . The toast of "The Principals of the Elkington Chapter " was proposed by Comp . H . A . Clulee , P . S ., who said he felt sure the officers would do all they possibly could to help such good Alasons , and to make the year 1 S 92 a happy and

prosperous one . All the Principals responded , the J . replying in a somewhat humorous vein . The Al . E . Z . gave "The Visitors , " to which Comp . Councillor VV . Price , P . Z ., responded . The toast of " 'The Exaltee " was next proposed b y Comp . W . F . Tolladay , M . E . Z ., who said they were

pleased to receive Comp . Palmer amongst them as an old and honourable Mason of the Forward Lodge . Comp . J . Palmer , on rising to respond , was received very heartily . He expressed thc pleasure he felt in being received into the Elkington Chapter , and thanked the companions for their very cordial reception of him .

The toast of " Ihe Past Principals and Officers" was given b y the M . E . Z ., who spoke in glowing terms of thc Past Principals , and of the splendid manner in which the exaltation and installation ceremonies were performed in the chapter . He also referred to the excellent working of the P . S . and the other officers .

Comp . Hillman responded for the Past Principals , and said it was a pleasure to install such worthy companions as the Three Principals of the chapter . 'The Past Principals would be always ready to assist at the beautiful ceremonies , and their Al . E . Z . deserved the highest praise for arranging one of the most successful meetings it had been his pleasure to attend .

Comp . II . A . Clulee , P . S ., responded for the officers . The Janitor ' s toast completed the list . During the evening a pleasing selection of music was rendered by Comps . Taylor , Smith , Eaton , and Shread , Comp . T . N . Bladon , P . G . O ., carrying out the duties of accompanist . Letters of apology were received from Comps . Lord Leigh , G . Z . proposed a vote of thanks to Comp . Sillitoe for his attendance and excellent services , which was seconded by Comp . Pickering , II ., and carried with acclamation . Comp . Sillitoe responded , and congratulated the chapter upon

having such an enthusiastic Royal Arch Mason as Comp . Young to preside over them . 'The chapter was closed , and the companions adjourned to a banquet served in the well-known style of the host and hostess ol the Red Lion . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , and a pleasant evening was brought to a close with harmony .

The Al . E . Z . next submitted the toast ot "The M . E . G . Superintendent , Lord Leigh , and the rest of the Provincial Grand Officers , Present and Past , " it being honoured in a cordial manner . Comp . J . T . Collins , Prov . G . H ., responded , and referred to the long services of the Grand Superintendent , and said that , although he did not come amongst them as frequently as in times past , he was none the less interested in his

province . Comp . F . G . Swinden , Prov . G . S . E ., also responded , and spoke of the 25 years' services Comp . E . Worrall had given as Prov . G . S . E ., and mentioned that it was intended to make a presentation to that worthy companion , and announced that at the last Prov . Grand Chapter Comp .

E . Worrall was appointed Prov . G . J . Comp . J . Fenn , P . P . G . S . B . Dorset , also responded . The toast of "The Principals of the Elkington Chapter " was proposed by Comp . H . A . Clulee , P . S ., who said he felt sure the officers would do all they possibly could to help such good Alasons , and to make the year 1 S 92 a happy and

prosperous one . All the Principals responded , the J . replying in a somewhat humorous vein . The Al . E . Z . gave "The Visitors , " to which Comp . Councillor VV . Price , P . Z ., responded . The toast of " 'The Exaltee " was next proposed b y Comp . W . F . Tolladay , M . E . Z ., who said they were

pleased to receive Comp . Palmer amongst them as an old and honourable Mason of the Forward Lodge . Comp . J . Palmer , on rising to respond , was received very heartily . He expressed thc pleasure he felt in being received into the Elkington Chapter , and thanked the companions for their very cordial reception of him .

The toast of " Ihe Past Principals and Officers" was given b y the M . E . Z ., who spoke in glowing terms of thc Past Principals , and of the splendid manner in which the exaltation and installation ceremonies were performed in the chapter . He also referred to the excellent working of the P . S . and the other officers .

Comp . Hillman responded for the Past Principals , and said it was a pleasure to install such worthy companions as the Three Principals of the chapter . 'The Past Principals would be always ready to assist at the beautiful ceremonies , and their Al . E . Z . deserved the highest praise for arranging one of the most successful meetings it had been his pleasure to attend .

Comp . II . A . Clulee , P . S ., responded for the officers . The Janitor ' s toast completed the list . During the evening a pleasing selection of music was rendered by Comps .
