Brown , P . M ., Treas ., seconded by Bro . C . H . VVebb , P . M ., a vote of thanks was unanimously passed to him for the handsome present . The brethren afterwards dined together . The W . M . in proposing the toast of " 'The Masonic Charities , " said he was standing as Steward for the Benevolent Institution festival on the 26 th inst ., and hehad already £ 65 12 s . Gd . on his list . He hoped , however , that it would be made up to three figures in the pounds column before the day of the festival . .

M . 177 , in the chair , the W . M ., Bro . George Everett , P . M ., being confined to his house with gout . The lodge having been opened in due form , and a ballot taken on behalf of a joining brother , which proved unanimous in his favour , the acting W . M . proceeded to raise Bro . VV .

Dowling to the Sublime Degree of a M . M . ; after which Bro . II . Furze was passed to the Second Degree . 'Three candidates , viz ., Messrs . Willis II . Wilson , R . M ., a large number of brethren attended . The lodge was opened by the VV . M ., Bro . E . Stutcly , and after the usual preliminary business the brethren proceeded to ballot for the VV . M . for the ensuing year , their choice unanimously

falling upon Bro . R . E . Brown , J . W ., Bro . J . Bagshaw , P . M ., being re-elected Treasurer . The business of the meeting having terminated the brethren adjourned to refreshment , during which Bro . R . Derry , P . M . and Sec , in the unavoidable absence of Bro . G . T . Green , I . P . The brethren appeared in Craft mourning in consequence of the death of Bro . Rawling , P . M . The business included the passing of bro . Crummack , the ceremony being performed by the VV . The committee appointed to consider the desirability of improving the organ presented a report in which they recommended an expenditure of about jCsS in rebuilding the instrument , rcvoicing , & c . 'The report was adopted , and the work will be proceeded with soon as possible . The

lodge was afterwards duly closed . On the 5 th inst . the audit of the Treasurer ' s accounts took place , and it was shown that there was a very satisfactory balance in favour of the lodge . Various toasts were proposed , and vocal and instrumental music contributed to a pleasant evening . ¦

John . There was a numerous

the organ . An interesting feature of the meeting was the presentation of testimonials to Past Masters Bratt and R . N . Banks . Bro . Skidmore , in presenting a handsome P . M . ' s jewel to Bro . Bratt , referred to the valuable services which he had rendered to the lodge for many years past , and stated that the present prosperous condition of the lodge was very largely due to his untiring efforts to promote its welfare .

The testimonial to Bro . Banks also took the form of a similar jewel , the task of presenting it being entrusted to Bro . Bratt , who remarked on the ability displayed by Bro . Banks in the discharge of his duties as Treasurer to the lodge , adding that the brethren asked his acceptance of the jewel as a mark of their high appreciation of his long and faithful labours . Bros . Bratt and Banks returned suitable

thanks . 'The brethren unanimously passed a vote of condolence with the mother and relatives of the late Bro . VV . A . Edwards , a member of the lodge , who has recentl y died , The assent of the lodge having been given to a petition in favour of the formation of a Royal Arch Chapter in Norwich , the lodge was closed .

Bratt , referred to the valuable services which he had rendered to the lodge for many years past , and stated that the present prosperous condition of the lodge was very largely due to his untiring efforts to promote its welfare .

The testimonial to Bro . Banks also took the form of a similar jewel , the task of presenting it being entrusted to Bro . Bratt , who remarked on the ability displayed by Bro . Banks in the discharge of his duties as Treasurer to the lodge , adding that the brethren asked his acceptance of the jewel as a mark of their high appreciation of his long and faithful labours . Bros . Bratt and Banks returned suitable

thanks . 'The brethren unanimously passed a vote of condolence with the mother and relatives of the late Bro . VV . A .
