He compiled its ritual , and for many years was its

Grand Patron . An excellent memoir of our deceased brother was published in the New York Despatch of the 13 th January , while from the same journal for the 20 th of the same month , we extract the following particulars of the funeral : "The last . « cenes in the tribute of respect to the memory of Robert Macoy were certainly deeply

impressive . In the home , were so many hours of fatherl y care and protection hid been spent , there was a sub . dued tone in everything . The lights were turned low in the darkened parlours , and their mellow softness fell like a halo upon the peaceful face of the sleeper , as he lay in his last slumber . He was not changed , hut as his friends were wont to see him , his good , manly face

was sweetly solemn and appropriate , and trembled upon the ears of all who listened as a soft lullab y fitting the peaceful rest of the sleeper in his coffin . After the Templar service , R . W . John Stewart , D . G . M ., in a few words , paid an eloquent tribute to the memory of one whose whole life was a beautiful exemplification of the spirit of true brotherhood . E . Sir John A .

Mapes . G . G ., spoke for the Grand Commander , and eulogised in a fitting manner a faithful and devoted officer of the Grand Commandry . Hundreds were unable to gain admission to the building , and when the services were concluded , those in the house and those who had been waiting outside , were given an opportunity to take a last look at the face of one of the best

men , one of the truest friends , one of the most zealous and sincere Masons , the fraternity was ever blessed with . Tears were plenty , and they were shed with the deepest sorrow at the loss of one who was dear to every heart . Gone for ever from the lodge room , and the Asylum is the genial face of Robert Macoy . May the fragrance of his beautiful life never be lost to the Templars of this country . May its influence for good
