The lodge was opened in due form , and Bro . Davies offered him " self as a candidate for passing , and was examined and entrusted . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree , and the ceremony of passing rehearsed . The lodge was opened in the Third Degree . WARNER LODGE—The fifth regular meeting ot this lodge , under the sanction of the Highbury Lodge , No . 2192 , was held at Bridge Chambers , Hoe-street , Walthamstow , on the ist instant , when Bro . G . H . Gush , P . M . 1541 , occupied the chair as W . M ., while Bro . H Jenkins , S . W . 850 , took that of S . W ., and Bro . N . Salmon , S . W . 177 , acted as J . W . The lodge was opened in ' the First Degree , and Bro . Gush proceeded to work the First Lecture , in which he was assisted by the

Lecture the questions were put by Bro . Jenkins . At the close of the Lecture the lodge was resumed in the First Degree , and Bro . C . G . Cutchey proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to the brethren for so kindly attending , many from a considerable distance , to afford the members of the lodge a treat which did not fall to the lot of every Freemason—that of hearing the whole Fifteen Sections so ably worked in one night . Bro . Shurmur seconded the resolution , which was carried unanimously .

The W . M ., in reply , thanked the brethren of the lodge for their hospitality , and reminded his hearers that it was alwais a pleasure to Freemasons to work where their labours were appreciated , and he was sure th »; brethren who had assisted him would be extremely gratified that their exertions had met with approval , and would highly esteem the vote of thanks so cordially given them . On the motion of Bro . C . G . Cutchey , seconded by Bro . Scoresby-Jackson , the W . M . with his officers and the other brethren who had taken

part in the ceremony were unanimously elected honorary members of the lodge . Some of the other visitors were then elected joining members , the W . M . informing them that after payment of necessary expenses , their funds were devoted to the three Masonic Charities . The Iodge was then closed . Among those present were Bros . C . B . LOUGHBOROUGH LODGE . —The usual weekly meeting of this lodge was varied on Monday , the nth inst ., at the Gauden Hotel , Ciapham-road Station ( L . C . & D . R . ) , when 37 of its members and friends sat down to a very substantial supper , supplied by the host , Bro . Shannaw . Bro . Westley , Preceptor , presided , and there were present Bros . Cochrane , Bate , Hill , Lingley , Donaldson , West , Russell , Beaven , A . Harvey , Evans , Mitchell ( two ) , Chapman ( two ) , Folkard , Langdon , Steele , Newton ,

Dennis , Lundy , Ellson , J . Wright , Marshall , Moore , Bye , Luckhurst , Rashleigh , Lyle , Wylde , Grover , Barry , Alexander / Andrews , Sec . ; Weeks , Tyler ; and others . After the usual attention had been paid to the repast , the brethren received permission to smoke , and being reinforced by Bros . Coe , Cohvell , Kate , and others unable to be Dresent at the banquet , a

thoroughly enjoyable evening was spent , there being no lack of excellent singing , and good , sensible , pithy speeches . Too much credit cannot be given to Bro . Shannaw for excellent cuisine and waiting , and this under the difficulty of providing for an unexpectedly large number of guests , there being about 10 more than were expected .

BAYARD CHAPTER ( No . 1615 ) . —The companions of this chapter held their annual festival on Monday , the 4 th inst ., at 33 , Golden-square , among those present being Comps . Henry Wright , H . ; K . Sauerbrey , J . ; Lieut .-Col . Haldane , Scribe E . ; E . J . Bamber , P . S . ; Frank Richardson , P . Z . ; T . F . Wilson ,

Inspector-General ; J . B . Purchas , P . S . ; N . O . Monce , G . F . Haines , W . M . Canterbury Lodge ; and W . I'Anson . Visitors : Comps . W . E . Chapman , Sir George Harris ( London County Council ) , and W . R . Palmer , First and Second Principals of Friends in Council Chapter . . After the opening of the chapter , the minutes were read by the Scribe E . Comp . Frank Richardson then proceeded

to install Comp . Wright into the chair of Z ., giving the beautiful ritual in his usual impressive manner . The newly-installed Z . then installed Comp . Sauerbrey into the chair of H . ; who in his turn placed Comp . Bamber into that of J ., Comp . Wright reading the passages of Scripture and g iving the prayers . The officers who were present were next invested . Two brethren were proposed for

exaltation at the June meeting . A sumptuous banquet at the Cafe Royal followed , the snug little party consisting of those before mentioned . Inspector-General Purchas responded for "The Grand Officers . " Comp . Lieut .-Col . Haldane proposed in graceful terms "The Health of the Three Principals , " each of whom

responded , Comp . F . Richardson doing duty for J . The next toast was that of " The Friends in Council Chapter , " the M . E . Z . explaining that by an old customand one which he hoped would continue for centuries—the Bayards invited the Three Principals of the Friends in Council to their installation , and the latter invited the Bayard ' s in October .

Comp . Sir George Harris responded in eloquent sentiments and reciprocated the previous speaker's remarks . The M . E . Z ., in proposing "The Health of the New Member , Comp . Chapman , " mentioned that he was the J . W . of the Savage Club Lodge , a member of Drury Lane Lodge , and of the Royal Solomon Lodge , which meets in the City of Jerusalem itself . Comp . Chapman duly responded .

During dessert a message arrived from Comp . Lennox Browne and the companions of the Empire Chapter , in response to a greeting which the M . E ; Z . had sent them . The Bayards drank to " The Health of the Empire Chapter , " and later on a deputation visited them at the Criterion . Comp . Lieut .-Col . Haldane responded on behalf of "The Officers , " and the companions then separated .

WARRINGTON . — Elias Ashmole Chapter ( No . 14 S ) . —The anniversary of this chapter was held in the Masonic Rooms , Sankey-street , on Monday , the nth inst ., when most of the members assembled on the occasion . There were also several visitors present from the Gilbert Greenall Chapter , No . 1250 , including the M . E . Z ., Comp . W . Bolton .

Z . ; E . Greenall , " H . ; and J . Hesketh , j . ; the duties of which ceremony were undertaken by Comp . P . J . Edelsten , P . Z . 14 S and 1250 , and P . P . G . Std . Br ., the same being performed in a most creditable

manner . The M . E . Z . then invested the following officers , viz .: Comps . J . H . Evans , I . P . Z . ; C . Skinner , S . E . ; J . Adams , S . N . ; VV . Perry , Treas . ; VV . H . Young , P . Evans , a handsome P . Z . ' s jewel , in recognition of his past services , which the recipient acknowledged in suitable

terms . The business of the chapter being concluded , the companions adjourned to a banquet , under the presidency of the M . E . Z ., Comp . Grime , provided by Comp . T . 0 . Speakman in his accustomed satisfactory manner . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly given and responded to , and , after spending a very pleasant evening , the companions separated .

SALFORD . —Chapter of St .- John ( No . 325 ) . —This chapter met for the dispatch of business at the Freemasons' Hall , the Crescent , on the 7 th inst . Among those in attendance were Comps . [ . The chapter was opened by Comp . Coiner , Z ., and upon the admission of the companions , the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed . The ballot was taken for Bro . Thos . Hulme , which proved favourable ,

and he was subsequently exalted to the Supreme Degree of a R . A . Mason by the ist Principal , in a manner which reflected great credit upon this energetic worker ; in fact , considering it was the first meeting after the installation , the whole of the officers discharged their duties with great credit . The Auditor's report was accepted and adopted . All business being concluded , the chapter was closed , after a most interesting meeting .

Woods personating candidate . The M . E . Z . rose for the lirst time , and the dues were collected . The M . E . Z . rose for the second time , and Comp . Grummant was elected M . E . Z . for the next meeting . The M . E . Z . rose for the third time , and a hearty vote of thanks was accorded Comp . Patrick for his work as Third Principal for the first time in this chapter . The S . E . reported that the lirst annual supper would take place on Friday , April gth , when Comp . Hilton wuild act as Chairman , and Comp . Addington as Vice-Chairman . The chapter was then closed .

Lady Knutsford , wile of the Secretary of State for the Colonies , attended at Marlborough House on Monday afternoon and presented , on behalf of the Colonial Committee , to the Prince and Princess of Wales , the present , consisting of a clock and candelabra and two large wall lights fitted for electric light , which had been subscribed for by the Colonies and Dependencies of the Crown to commemorate the Silver Wedding of their Royal Highnesses .

Lecture the questions were put by Bro . Jenkins . At the close of the Lecture the lodge was resumed in the First Degree , and Bro . C . G . Cutchey proposed that a hearty vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes to the brethren for so kindly attending , many from a considerable distance , to afford the members of the lodge a treat which did not fall to the lot of every Freemason—that of hearing the whole Fifteen Sections so ably worked in one night . Bro . Shurmur seconded the resolution , which was carried unanimously .

The W . M ., in reply , thanked the brethren of the lodge for their hospitality , and reminded his hearers that it was alwais a pleasure to Freemasons to work where their labours were appreciated , and he was sure th »; brethren who had assisted him would be extremely gratified that their exertions had met with approval , and would highly esteem the vote of thanks so cordially given them . On the motion of Bro . C . G . Cutchey , seconded by Bro . Scoresby-Jackson , the W . M . with his officers and the other brethren who had taken

part in the ceremony were unanimously elected honorary members of the lodge . Some of the other visitors were then elected joining members , the W . After the usual attention had been paid to the repast , the brethren received permission to smoke , and being reinforced by Bros . Coe , Cohvell , Kate , and others unable to be Dresent at the banquet , a

thoroughly enjoyable evening was spent , there being no lack of excellent singing , and good , sensible , pithy speeches . Too much credit cannot be given to Bro . Shannaw for excellent cuisine and waiting , and this under the difficulty of providing for an unexpectedly large number of guests , there being about 10 more than were expected .

Chapman , Sir George Harris ( London County Council ) , and W . R . Palmer , First and Second Principals of Friends in Council Chapter . . After the opening of the chapter , the minutes were read by the Scribe E . Comp . Frank Richardson then proceeded

to install Comp . Wright into the chair of Z ., giving the beautiful ritual in his usual impressive manner . The newly-installed Z . then installed Comp . Sauerbrey into the chair of H . ; who in his turn placed Comp . Bamber into that of J ., Comp . Wright reading the passages of Scripture and g iving the prayers . The officers who were present were next invested . Two brethren were proposed for

exaltation at the June meeting . A sumptuous banquet at the Cafe Royal followed , the snug little party consisting of those before mentioned . Inspector-General Purchas responded for "The Grand Officers . " Comp . Lieut .-Col . Haldane proposed in graceful terms "The Health of the Three Principals , " each of whom

responded , Comp . F . Richardson doing duty for J . The next toast was that of " The Friends in Council Chapter , " the M . E . Z . explaining that by an old customand one which he hoped would continue for centuries—the Bayards invited the Three Principals of the Friends in Council to their installation , and the latter invited the Bayard ' s in October .

Comp . Sir George Harris responded in eloquent sentiments and reciprocated the previous speaker's remarks . The M . E . Z ., in proposing "The Health of the New Member , Comp . Chapman , " mentioned that he was the J . W . of the Savage Club Lodge , a member of Drury Lane Lodge , and of the Royal Solomon Lodge , which meets in the City of Jerusalem itself . Comp . Chapman duly responded .

During dessert a message arrived from Comp . Lennox Browne and the companions of the Empire Chapter , in response to a greeting which the M . E ; Z . had sent them . The Bayards drank to " The Health of the Empire Chapter , " and later on a deputation visited them at the Criterion . Comp . Lieut .-Col . Haldane responded on behalf of "The Officers , " and the companions then separated .

WARRINGTON . — Elias Ashmole Chapter ( No . 14 S ) . —The anniversary of this chapter was held in the Masonic Rooms , Sankey-street , on Monday , the nth inst ., when most of the members assembled on the occasion . There were also several visitors present from the Gilbert Greenall Chapter , No . 1250 , including the M . E . Z ., Comp . W . Bolton .

Mason by the ist Principal , in a manner which reflected great credit upon this energetic worker ; in fact , considering it was the first meeting after the installation , the whole of the officers discharged their duties with great credit .
