It had given him great pleasure to be present with them that evening to witness the beautiful ceremony in the lodge , and he had never seen that ceremony rendered more impressively either in England or America . It was his p leasure to visit the lodge two years ago during the
administration of Bro . Cumberland , and he could see the progress that had been made since that time . It must have been gratifying to Bro . Cumberland to have been the first W . In America the lodges numbered more members , but the
fraternal feeling could not be in advance of that shown in this country . The brethren in England were ever ready to extend the right hand of fellowship and brotherly love to those coming over here , and they on the other side of the Atlantic would always extend that same cordial feeling to English brethren going to America . This was bringing the two countries closer together more than anything that
could possibly be thought of , and was cementing the great Ang lo-Saxon race . There was not anything that could bring the people of those two great countries more closely together than the Masonic Fraternity , supported by the three great piinciples of brotherhood , justice , and truth , and resting upon the great foundation-stone of Charity .

In the course of his remarks he alluded to the Lodges of Sorrow held by the brethren in Germany and America , and said : I think this lodge meeting may be fairly called our Lodge of Sorrow , for have we not during the last month lost from amongst our midst a brother for whom we all sorrow deeply . been one of the mainstays of the Iodge . From the time of its foundation up to the last he took the keenest interest in its affairs . He was the first Secretary of the lodge , and had he been spared , it would have been twenty one years next May since he was installed into the chair of K . S ., and during all that time he has stuck loyally to us and given us the benefit of his great
knowledge and counsel . To me personally this evening is one of great sorrow , for the first ceremony Bro . Ibberson performed in the chair was raising me to the Sublime Degree of M . M ., and I retain a vivid recollection of the interest he took in me and the other brethren then joining the Order , and the time he spent over us in instructing us in its beautiful ritts and ceremonies . The honours which
our brother received in the various Degrees of Freemasonry to which he belonged were well deserved , and were borne by him as a good true Mason should carry them . After a few further remarks reminding the brethren of the uncertainty of the length of our sojourn here , and the truths as taught by the Craft , he continued : After these remarks , brethren , I think you will be quite prepared
for the resolution which I have to propose , viz ., " That a letter of condolence be sent to the family of our late Bro . Ibberson , expressing to them our deepest sympathy in the great loss which they have sustained , and that the G . A . O . T . U . may be pleased to grant them health , strength , and . consolation in their affliction . " This was seconded by Bro . Thos . Lang , P . M ., Treas ., supported by Bro . F . H .
Hare , W . M ., and carried . It was also proposed by Bro . James Barker , P . M ., seconded by Bro . W . Wilson , S . W ., and resolved , "That a letter of sympathy be also sent hi Bro . ] . K . Ibberson , P . M ., P . P . G . Keg . ( brother of the deceased ) . " The Secretary read a letter from the brethren of the Savile Lodge , No . 1231 , Elland , expressing their grier , and tendering to the Mirfield Lodge their sympathy in
the loss so recently sustained . This was ordered to be entered on the minutes and a suitable acknowledgment sent . A copy of the "Thomas VV . Tew MS . " having been sent to the lodge , it was resolved that the thanks of the Iodge be conveyed to the Provincial Grand Master for the same , after which the Iodge closed in peace and harmony .
NORTH WOOLWICH . —Henley Lodge ( No . 1472 ) . —The installation meeting of the above powerful and prosperous lodge took place at the Three Crowns Hotel , on Tuesday , the 5 th instant , when Bro . The ballot was then taken tor Mr . James Haighwuod , and that also proved unanimous . Bro . A . 1 . Ives , P . M ., acting as D . C , then presented Bro . Canning to the W . M ., and in due course Bro . Canning was installed . He appointed his

performance of an arduous and important ceremony . It was then resolved " That a testimonial , inscribed on vellum , and suitably illuminated , mounted , and framed , at a cost of nut exceeding five guineas , should be presented to Bro . Savage for his services as Installing Officer , and also that the thanks of the lodge be accorded him , the same to be recorded on the minutes of the lodge . " He was further
presented , during the evening , with a Past Master ' s jewel , of the value of ten guineas , and a Past Master ' s collar and jewel , both suitably engraved , to mark the approbation of the brethren of his services as Master during the past year , for which Bro . Savage returned his thanks . Bro . Canning then proceeded to initiate the candidate , and , in doing so , gave a foretaste of his ability to rule and govern the lodge ,
and also to work the ceremonies , in whicn we know from personal observation that he is a proficient . "Hearty good wishes " having been tendered , the lodge was closed , and the brethren proceeded by special train to the Terminus Hotel , Liverpool-street , where a superb banquet awaited them , the brethren dining in clothing by dispensation . Our Bro . Ibberson has , as you all know
Reports Of Masonic Meetings.
been one of the mainstays of the Iodge .

Bro . Canning then proceeded to initiate the candidate , and , in doing so , gave a foretaste of his ability to rule and govern the lodge ,
and also to work the ceremonies , in whicn we know from personal observation that he is a proficient . honour to represent at least , yet he felt exceedingly gratified , and was proud to acknowled ge the eloquence with which the W .
