M ., " congratulated the lodge heartily on the very happy choice it had made in

electing Bro . Roach , and on the good fortune that had fallen to it in having so worthy a brother to fill the office of W . M . During the past year the brethren had had experience of his efficiency as the senior officer , and that experience was sufficient to justify their anticipation that he would fill thc chair of Master of the Galen Lodge with y . eal , discretion , and amiability . At the same time he congratulated Bro . Roach on his succession to the chair .

Bro . Roach , W . M ., in acknowledging the toast , said it was certainly a very great honour to be the second Master of the Galen Lodge , and he felt exceedingly the compliment paid him in his unanimous election . He need not assure the brethren that during his year nothing that lay in his power should be left by him undone to promote the welfare and interest of the Galen Lodge .

Bro . Roach , W . M ., next gave "The I . P . M . and Installing Master , Bro . Dr . B . H . Paul . " Ail the brethren knew Ur . Paul ' s great services to the lodge during the past year , his excellent work , and the great care , attention , and trouble he had exhibited in providing for the convenience and comfort of the brethren . As a worthy finish of his year of ollice , he had admirably instilled the W . M . that

evening . Bro . Dr . Paul , I . P . M ., on rising to reply was received with loud and general applause , fie thanked the W . M . very much for tne cordial manner in which he had proposed the toast and the brethren for the reception they had given it . He thanked them also for their kindly appreciation of bis work and for their co-operation with him in founding the lodge . He congratulated himself upon having had the

opportunity of assisting in that great and glorious work , which did not originate in his own idea but sprang from thc suggestion of Bro . Morrison , the Secretary , who selected him for the oflice of lirst W . M . He was very proud of the position and thankful to the brethren for conlerring it upon him . He had endeavoured to perform his duty in that office to the best of his ability and he had been very much gratified with the satisfaction of the brethren . In the

course of his year ' s duties the hearty co-operation ana support he had received from every one of the founders ami the oflicers had been a great encouragement to him . Every ollicer in the lodge had rendered him most efficient service . It would be unbecoming to make invidious comparisons , but if he might ba permitted to refer to one ollicer who had rendered him the most grateful service , and who had most unobtrusively and graciously

come to his elbow and prompted him , he would mention with gratitude the worthy D . C . He had received from him the most kindly and gracefully-offered service it was possible for one brother to render to another . He hoped that in mentioning Uro . Rogerson especially , the brethren would not consider he was making comparisons , but he could not avoid that opportunity of acknowledging the assistance of so efficient a D . C . He hoped all brethren

would work together with unanimity and cordiality , and support the object for which the Galen Lodge was founded , and reflect honour on their P . M . 'The Initiate responded in a few words to the toast proposed in his honi-mr , and Bros . Christie * and Dipstale replied for " Thu Visitors . " Uro . Christie said he was present at the consecration of the lodge . There was no fear of the Galen Lodge falling in position , for in such a body of men as those of whom
