Bro . Crompton , P . M . The duty of addressing the W . M ., Wardens , and brethren was allotted to Bro . C . Heywood , P . M ., Prov . G . Stwd ., whose brilliant delivery had charming effect . Bro . Locke , P . M ., was elected Charity representative . The W . AL , on behalf of the members of the lodge , presented to Bro . Renshaw a gold Past Master's jewel , and remarked he was quite sure that he well deserved

that recognition of esteem which was shown to him by that act , as during his year of office he had had the good feeling and support of every brother , and he had fulfilled the duties of Master during the year with ability and dignity . Bro . Renshaw , in a few graceful remarks , thanked the brethren for the token , and concluded hy asking the members of the lodge to accept from him a banner , and called upon Bro .

Chas . Heywood to present it on his behalf to them . Amid great applause Bro . Heywood unfurled it ( to the great admiration of all present ) , and said he had great pleasure in presenting it to the W . M . of the lodge , on behalf of Bro . F . Renshaw , LP . M . by Bro . J . J . Lambert , who remarked that it was the thing they had required for many years , and its presence almost seemed to make the lodge room complete . Several propositions for initiation and joining were received , and the lodge was

closed . After banquet the usual toasts were given and received with heartiness . Bro . Col . Noel Money , P . G . AI . Surrey , replying to the toast of his health , returned thanks for the flattering terms in which the W . M . had proposed the toast . He should never forget the day he was installed as P . G . M ., and should

always feel a peculiar feeling at his heart regarding all Croydon Masons who assisted at that ceremony , lt was a wonderful meeting , and he hoped the meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge this year and in the future would not fall short of it . He hoped this year they would see an equal number of Surrey Masons together , and hc hoped that if they held it at Surbiton the Croydon Masons would attend in large numbers . It was always a great pleasure to visit

a lodge where the work was so well conducted , and where the brethren were not dining Masons only . Masonry in Surrey had always been carried on in a truly Masonic spirit , and he trusted that would continue in the future . This was not the first time he had been in this lodge , and he hoped as time passed he might learn to know them better , for he could not value the friendship of the members of any lodge more than he did that of the Parthenon Lodge .

Bro . Fred . West , P . G . D ., D . P . G . M ., responded for " The Deputy Provincial Grand Master , and Provincial Grand Oflicers , Present and Past , " and said he thought he was not saying too much when he said that the representatives of Surrey wearing the collars of the province were well entitled to wear them . He might say a good deal of the officers , because they were generally Masons

who had done good suit and service in the Craft He knew there was a great anxiety to acquire the various offices at the disposal of the Prov . Grand Master , and he hoped the province would supply as good material to the present Prov . Grand Master as it did during the few years he I Bro . West ) was in charge . Everybody who had had any acquaintance with Masonry must know there were

some Masons whose sole object was to acquire the provincial colours . In athletics there was a class of persons always present at sport meetings known as " pot-hunters , " and he was afraid there was something of that sort in Masonry , but he always condemned it . Alasonry should have higher aims for they should strive to promote the great principles of the Order . Masonry should be the first thing ,

self afterwards . He was glad they had not a great deal of what he had described in Surrey , and he hoped the day would be far distant ere such Masons would obtain a reward . There were many cases in the province where good Masons could not be rewarded adequately , and he hoped they would

content themselves by knowing they were fighting in a good cause . They must rally round their chief and keep up the same good feeling and the same regard for Masonic Charity that made the province a pleasure to be associated with it . He should do his best to maintain the old tradition , and looked forward to those who became Prov . Grand Officers

to join with him in the same feeling of satisfaction at being officers in the future as it was to him on the present occasion Bro . Rev . E . L . G . Houndle , I . P . M ., next gave " The VV . M ., " and said he was sure the brethren would receive it with acclamation . He had had the honour of installing a worthy and distinguished brother in the person of Bro" ! Girdner , who would do everything that was right and

proper for the lodge , and the brethren would join in drinking his health with great cordiality . Bro . R . C P . Gardner , W . M ., thanked the LP . M . most sincerely for the kind way he had proposed the toast although he felt he was not entitled to it . He felt he had been greatly honoured by being placed in the chair , and felt great pleasure at having the Provincial Grand Master

present . He hoped to have a successful year of office , and to be supported by the presence of the Provincial Grand Officers as he had been that evening . Bro . Dr . G . Pollard , P . AL , gave "The Visitors " i „ cordial terms , and Bros . Margetts , W . M . 373 , and G . W , Speth , P . M ., Sec . 2076 , replied .

Bro . Rev . E . L . G . Houndle , I . P . M ., returned thanks for "The Installing Master and Past Alasters , " and said that all he could do to help the VV . M . during the coming year would be cheerfully and willingly done . "The Officers" was duly honoured , and thebrethren shortly afterwards separated , after a pleasant evening .

DIDSBURY . Doric Lodge ( No . 2359 ) . —The regular meeting of this lodge was held on Saturday , the gth instant , at the Didsbury Hotel . There was , as usual , a very large attendance of members and visitors . The lodge was opened by Bro . Clare E . Towell , W . M ., who vacated the chair to enable Bro . G . R . Lloyd , P .

M . It was what they had required for many years , and he hoped they would accept it with pleasure * . Bro . Bedford proposed a vote of thanks , which was seconded

by Bro . J . J . Lambert , who remarked that it was the thing they had required for many years , and its presence almost seemed to make the lodge room complete . Other important business followed , and after * ' Hearty good wishes" had been expressed by the large number of visitors present , the lodge was closed . The brethren subsequently celebrated the Festival of St .

John by a banquet . The usual lqyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to . Bro . H . Nail , P .
