M . expressing his intention during his year of ofiice to divide the work between himself and the Past Masters on every possible occasion . The by-laws vvere read , and a verbal alteration made in accordance vvith notice given . A candidate vvas proposed for initiation , and the lodge was closed . After an hour spent in rambles in the gardens or to the

various places of interest , the brethren re-assembled and dined . Before proceeding vvith the toasts the W . Nell , P . M . In proposing the toast of " The Initiates , " the Worshipful Master said unless new vigour vvas constantly introduced into a lodge it could not prosper . had been brought within their circle who had not failed to prove a credit to the lodge and to Freemasonry . They each and all considered it incumbent on them to do all in their power to promote good feeling , good fellowship , and harmony in the lodge . He vvas confident that their brothers , the initiates , would do their duty in that respect . They had taken a step that day which he trusted they might have

every reason to congratulate themselves upon . They might accept his assurance that they had become members of a lodge which had a good reputation , vvhich they would be expected to assist in maintaining . He was intimatel y acquainted vvith Bro . Bickers , and Bro . Goodwins vvith his

musical talents would prove a great acquisition . They were very pleased to receive them into the lodge , and he trusted tbat the career they had that day commenced might prove honourable to themselves and to Freemasonry . 1 he toast was most cordially received and Brcs . Bickers and Goodwins replied in suitable terms .

The next toast was " The Visitors . " The Worshipful Master said he thought they had the reputation of being a gocd working lodge , also of being one which did all ic possibly could in aid of the Charities of the Order ; they vvere desirous of maintaining a reputation for hospitality .

Many lodgesmct in moresumptuously furnished rooms . Their festive board might be filled vvith delicacies which could not bc offered to visitors there , hut they bad picturesque surroundingsnotoften met vvith , and they took second place to no lodge in the warmth of the welcome they extended to
