Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

name being coupled with the toast was that he was the VV . M . of a sister lodge in Ealing , but his presence that evening would be an assurance of the friendly and brotherly feeling existing between the two lodges , whose sole aim was to work in harmony aed further the progress of benevolence and charity . Bros . Spagnioletti and Salmon also responded . Bro . Kasner , P . M ., Treas ., in returning thanks for

" The Treasurer and Secretary , " said he should endeavour during his term of office to follow the excellent advice given by the W . M ., when investing him with the collar , and " collect all he could , give all he could , and save all he could . " Bro . Burr , P . M ., Secretary , also replied , and said he was satisfied that they had a bright future before them , for there was a harmonious and united feeling among them , and that was one of the greatest triumphs of

Freemasonry . " The Officers of the Lodge " was next honoured . Bro . Wright , S . VV ., responded , and assured the VV . M . he could rely upon the co-operation of all the officers . The Tyler ' s toast then closed a successful meeting . During the evening some excellent music was rendered by Miss Madeline Hardy , Miss Florence Venning , Bro , Sidney Santon , and Mr . James Rudd .

HARROW . —Unity Lodge ( No . 1637 ) . —This lodge , which meets at the Railway Hotel , held its installation meeting on Saturday last , when Bro . Chas . Webster , the Senior Warden of the past year , who had been unanimously elected to the office of Master forthe ensuing 12 months , was solemnl y installed into the chair of K . S . according to ancient rite . The ceremony was very ably performed by Bro . H . J . Slyman , P . M ., Prov . G . D . of C .

There was a good attendance of members and visitors , and an imposing array of Installed Masters formed the Board , in whose presence the installation ceremony was performed . Unfortunately , both the Prov . Grand Master , Sir Francis Burdett , and his Deputy , Bro . Raymond H . Thrupp , were prevented , by prior engagements , from being present . Among the visitors there were Bros . R . T . Whitley , P . P . G . D . C . Middx . ; E . M . Lander , P . M . 1642 ; T . Archer ,

1589 ; E . W . Scattergood , W . M . 753 ; C T . Fox , P . M . 201 ; G . J . Baker , S 69 ; J . Bindon , W . M . 704 ; J . Ellwood , W . M . 179 ; E . Rogers , S . W . 123 S ; E . C . Milvey , S . D . 79 i J ° hn Salmon , I . G . 2045 ; J- C Conway , W . S . 1891 ; S . G . Langdon , P . M . 538 ; James New , P . M . 179 ; Arthur Thomas , J . Kift , and E . C Massey . After the newly-installed VV . M . had been duly proclaimed and saluted by the brethren in open lodge , Bro . Slyman , in

an easy and impressive manner , delivered the customary orations , first to the VV . M ., next to the Wardens , and , lastly , to the minor officers and lay brethren ; and the W . M . then proceeded to invest his officers as follows : — Bros . John Woodmason , I . P . M . ; Charles Parsons , S . W . ; J . M . Jefferson , J . W . j T . W . Cooper , P . M ., P . P . G . J . D ., Treas . j S . A . Cooper , P . M ., Sec ; D . Stroud , S . D . ; N . Goodchild , P . M ., ( J . D . ; Sondheim , I . G . j G . Dickens ,

D . C ; j . Crook , W . S . ; and J . Middleton , Tyler . The Secretary then read vrrious communications , among which was an application from Bro . Terry , Secretary of the Benevolent Institution for Stewards for the next Festival , upon hearing which , Bro . Webster , VV . M ., said that hc should have much pleasure in representing the lodge on that occasion , and trusted that the members of the lodge would do their best to enable him to take up with him a

respectable list of contributions . There being no further business , the lodge was then closed and adjourned until April . The brethren and their guests afterwards dined together , and did full justice to an excellent banquet , well cooked and admirably served , which reflected great credit on Bro . Hamlin , the proprietor of the Railway Hotel . After dinner , the customary loyal and Masonic toasts

were proposed , and were all most cordially received and honoured by the company . The intervals between the toasts and the replies were agreeably filled up with some very good songs from Bros . Arthur Thomas and J . Kift , which were pleasantly supplemented by others contributed by members of the lodge . In proposing the first toast— " The Queen and the Craft "—Bro . Webster said that the subjects of the toasts

in the list were so generally well known , that no words were required from the proposer to recommend them to the company ; he should therefore not delay the proceedings of the evening by making long speeches . In proposing "The Health ofthe M . W . G . M ., " Bro . Webster said that they all knew how keen an interest the Prince of Wales took in the proceedings and welfare of the Craft , and what admirable arrangements were made for

carrying on the work devolving upon Grand Ofiicers ; the Earl of Carnarvon , their most able Pro Grand Master was well known to the brethren for the interest he took in Freemasonry , and for the time and the pains he devoted to the duties of his position , and the Earl of Lathom , the Deputy Grand Master , and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , who were included in the toast , all took great interest , and gave up much of their time to Freemasonry

, not onl y to the performance of the bare duties of Grand Lodge , but also in carrying out the many social , as well as official , duties that hung uport their offices . He hoped that they would in the future take the same interest in Freemasonry as they had done in the past . In proposing "The Health of Col . Burdett , the Prov .

Grand . Master , " Bro . Webster said that he had hoped to "ave had the pleasure of his company on that occasion ; but he had reason to believe that at some future time within his year of office they would have the pleasure of welcomes 'he Provincial Grand Masteramong them . He trusted that Sir Francis would long be spared to rule over the province .

Jn proposing "The Health of Bro . Thrupp , the Deputy 1 , G . M „ " Bro . Webster said that they had a great many Provincial Grand Ollicers , both Present and Past , in the lodge , Bro . Thrupp was an honoray member and used to ?? frequently and he hoped , would come soon again , uro . Slyman , P . G . D . C , was present and he would ask him .. re . sPond , but he must also associate with this toast Brn .

Adkins , Bro . Whitley , P . G . D . of C , and their P . M . and r n asur er > Gro - Coo P > P . P . G . D . . Bro . Slyman said , in reply , that he felt he had a very important duty to perform in replying for this toast and returning thanks for the Prov . Grand Officers . During the term of his office his services as an officer of the pro-V f"Jif 1 been ca , le ( I into requisition at the consecration or the lodge at South Hornsey . It was not for him to

speak as to the proficiency of the Grand Officers generally , but he might say that the Deputy P . G . M ., Bro . Thrupp , discharged the duties of consecrating officer and subsequently the duties of Installing Officer in a most admirable manner ; and the Grand Chaplain , Bro . Spencer Buller , gave as nice an oration as it had ever been his good fortune to listen to . He might , perhaps , without vanity add that

he had heard that the Deputy P . G . M . had said how pleased he was with the way in which the affair had gone off and with the way in which his officers had discharged their duties . He was very pleased to have had the opportunity of performing the little service he had done in the lodge in installing their W . M ! , and it would always afford him pleasure to do what he could for the good of the lodge . He

thanked them heartily on behalf of the Grand Officers for the cordial manner in which they had received this toast . Bro . T . VV . Cooper , Treas ., also returned thanks . Bro . John Woodmason , I . P . M ., said that the next toast was "The Health of the VV . M . " He was sure that the brethren of the Unit y Lodge could not have made a better choice than they had made in electing Bro . Webster . He

had himself acted with Bro . Webster for a good many years , and the more he saw of him the better he liked him . From what he knew of Bro . Webster he was sure he would make a good Master , and if he received the same kindness and consideration from the brethren that had been shown to him ( Bro . Woodmason ) they would get on remarkably well . He concluded by asking the brethren to be

upstanding and drink this toast . Bro . Webster , in reply , thanked them very much for the unanimity with which the toast had been drunk . He was pleased to hear Bro . Woodmason speak in the way he had spoken . They had been fast friends for a long time . Since

his connection with the lodge he ( Bro . Webster ) had met with friendliness and kindness on all sides ; and it gave him great pleasure to be placed in his present position after striving to do his duty in the lower offices in the lodge , because it showed that the brethren had been pleased with his endeavours .

The VVorshipfuI Master then proposed "The Health of the Visitors , " on whose behalf Bros . Binder , Scattergood , and Ellwood returned thanks . Bro . Webster said the next toast was that of "The I . P . M . " It was a toast tbat afforded him great pleasure to propose , not only as Master of the lodge , but as a friend of the I . P . M . Bro . Woodmason had had a very

successful year of office , hehad been hearty and good to every member of the lodge , and to every visitor , and he had done the ceremonies in a very creditable manner . He trusted that Bro . Woodmason might live many years to be a Past Master of the Unity Lodge . At the same time he had great pleasure in presenting the I . P . M . with a jewel , which was presented as a token of appreciation by the

members of the lodge at the efficient manner in which he had discharged his duties as Master during the past twelve months . In replying , Bro . Woodmason said that it afforded him a very great amount of pleasure to have had that jewel placed upon his left breast , and he begged to assure the brethren of the Unity Lodge that he thanked them for it ,

for he was sure that if they had thought him underserving they woulO -ot have given it to him . He hoped that he should be . ' | . x , ed to be with them many years . The longer he belonged to the Unity Lodge the better he liked it , because the brethren all acted up to the name they had adopted for their Iodge . The Worshipful Master then proposed " Success to the Masonic Charities , " which was very ably replied to by Bro .

New , P . M . 179 . The toast of " The Past Masters " was then proposed , Bros . Cooper and Adkins returning thanks . The Worshipful Master then proposed " The Health of the Olikers , " which was replied to by the Senior and Junior Wardens . Bro . Adkins proposed "The Health of the Secretary , " to which Bro . Stephen A . Cooper replied briefly , and the Tyler ' s toast brought the proceedings of the evening to a close .

The lodge having been opened , and the minutes of the

last meeting confirmed , the ballot was taken for three gentlemen , and proved unanimous in their favour , one of whom—Mr . Wm . Francis Blockey—being present , was initiated into Freemasonry , and the charge given . After two gentlemen had been proposed and seconded and other business , the Iodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment .

1589 ; E . W . Scattergood , W . M . 753 ; C T . Fox , P . M . 201 ; G . J . Baker , S 69 ; J . Bindon , W . M . 704 ; J . Ellwood , W . M . 179 ; E . Rogers , S . W . 123 S ; E . C . Milvey , S .
