The Craft Abroad.

Salem—happiest in the memory of his own honourable and useful life . His Excellency , having unveiled the likeness , coneratulated the lodge on its possessing as an honorary member a worthy brother like R . W . Bro . Gilmour McCorkell . It was then proposed by R . W . Bro . K . N . Wadia , seconded by R . W . Bro . Arnott , and carried unanimnusly and by acclamation , "That M . W . Bro . Lcrd Sandhurst be and is hereby elected an honorary member cf Lodge Salem . " After the lodge had passed , amidst prolonged and enthusiastic cheers , a vote of thanks to his Excellency for his kind and fraternal condescension in accepting the invitation of the lodge to honour it with a visit , and for the able and successful manner in which he had performed the ceremony of unveiling the

likeness of R . W . Bro . McCorkell , his Excellency retired after thanking the brethren in suitable terms . In commemoration of Most Worshipful the Grand Master ' s first visit lo tie ledge , a sum of Rs . 150 was voted to the Joint Hall Building Fund , Bombay , frcm the ledge funds , to wf ich individual members cheerfully added the sum of Rs . 550 . IVese sums , when a 6 df d to tie amount previously paid by the lodge and its members to this Fund , will Iring up their subscription to the Fund to the handsome sum of Rs . 102 S . The brethren have also subscribed Rs . 150 to the S . M . B . Fund with a v ew to add this sum to tbe sum of Rs . IJS previously subscribed by them for purchasing vi tes in the said Fund in the name of R . W . Bro . Gilmour McCorkell , with a view to make him Vice-President of the Association .

D . of C , Patron and Treasurer of the Institution , presided , and among those present were Bros . C . A . Cottebrune , P . G . P . ; H . W . Clarke ; S . Vallentine , P . G . P . ; John Hattersley , R . D . Cummings , C . Kempton , W . Baddeley , S . V . Abraham , P . G . P . ; C . J . R . Tijou , P . A . G . P . ; Stanley J . Attenborough , P . A . G . D . of C . ; J . H . Whadcoit ; George Mickley , P . A . G . D . C . ; F . Mead , P . G . S . B . ; and many others , together with Bro . Jas . Terry , P . G . S . B . ( Secretary ) .

The minutes of the previous Committee having been read and confirmed and the Secretary having repotted the death of a widow annuitant , the Warden's report for the past month was read , as also was that of the Finance Committee , which was adopted and ordered to be entered on the minutes . A letter was also read from the Grand Secretary enclosing a cheque for £ 1166 14 s . 6 d ., being the proportion due to the Institution of the proceeds of admission fees to the Masonic meeting in the Royal Albert Hall on the 14 th June . A cheque for £ 70 was also reported to have been received for supply of fuel to the inmates during the winter months .

The application from the widow of a recently-de ceased annuitant for half her husband ' s annuity was acceded to . A letter from Bro . Hedges , enclosing a copy of resolution passed by the Girls' School Quarterly Court , relating to Perpetual Presentations was read , and Bros . J . A . Farnfield , S . Brooks , K . P ., and Colonel Durrant , J . P ., were appointed to represent the Institution on the proposed Committee . Three petitions ( one male and two widows ) were considered and adopted , and the names ordered to be entered on the list of candidates for the election in May , 189 S . A vote of thanks to the Chairman terminated the proceedings .
