E . West , P . M . 107 G , P . P . G . P . Herts ; J . Butler , 17 S 9 ; Tayler , 913 ; H . King , S . D . G 15 ; Frost , 913 ; J . Wood , 3 S 1 ; H . Widgery , 1449 ; and C . Jolly , 913 ( Freemason ) . The minutes of the last meeting having been confirmed , Sergt . G . F . C . Bond , R . A ., was after ballot and approval initiated , the W . M . giving the E . A . charge most eloquently , and then Bros . Mitchell and Hutchings were raised , both degrees being admirably worked by the VV . M . and his
officers . A cordial invitation was given to the lodge to cooperate with the Pattison Lodge , No . 913 , in entertaining the Provincial Grand Lodge in July next , and it was resolved to discuss the acceptance or otherwise of it at the next meeting . Five guineas were then voted to Bro . Mason's list for the Boys' School and the like amount to Bro . West's list for the Girls' School , those brethren standing Stewards respectively for the . above named
forthcoming charity festivals . The lodge was then closed , and after partaking of supper the loving cup went round and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were drank in bumpers . In responding to the toast of "Bro . Eastes , D . G . M . Kent , and the rest of the Grand Officers , " Bro . Coupland referred with pleasure to the excellent state of the lodge , its capital working , and the harmony that existed in it , all
of which he attributed in no ordinary measure to their having such excellent Past Masters to guide and direct them . That fact was well known and appreciated by their Grand Master and Bro . Eastes , and the outcome of it would be that Bro . Shaw would get the purple in July next . They would see the great difficulty there vvas in selecting Grand Officers when he told them that there were some 49 lodges in the province all having worthy candidates for provincial
honours ; but they had such confidence in the judgment of their principal Grand Officers that their selections always gave satisfaction . With reference to the proposed Grand Lodge meeting at Plumstead in July next , they felt that such had been the close and friendly union that existed between the United Military and Pattison Lodges that it vvas onl y right that the former should be asked to cooperate in entertaining Grand Lodge . Whetever decision
that lodge might come to on the matter he felt that they would help the Pattison Lodge to the best of their power , and he trusted the good feeling that now bound them together would long continue . Bro . Weston sincerely hoped the Grand Lodge would come to Plumstead this year , as it would afford the military brethren stationed at Woolwich an opportunity of seeing for themselves the great interest Lord Holmesdale and
Bro . Eastes took in Masonry . Bro . Welding then proposed the toast of " The VV . M ., " and in so doing said the admirable manner in which Bro . Holleyman had worked the ceremonies that evening ought to make them proud of him . He was increasing in confidence , and therefore before the end of his year of office they would have every occasion to say that no better Master had ever presided over them .
Bro . Holleyman was very pleased to see so very pleasant and successful a meeting . It showed him that they were working together with that love and harmony which should at all times characterise Freemasonry ; but above all , he was pleased that they were in a position to aid the cause of charity by granting sums to the lists of the two brethren who were going up as Stewards at the forthcoming festival . They had also given something to a distressed brother , and
he was sincerely thankful to see the lodge in a position to do as they had done that night . In giving the toast of "The Visitors" the Worspliipful Master spoke earnestly and with much feeling of the kindness of the Pattison Lodge in asking them to cooperate with them in entertaining the Provincial Grand Lodge in July next . That would be a question for them to discuss at their next meeting , but whether they agreed to
do so or not the kindness and courtesy evinced in the offer would not soon or readily be forgotten . It showed that they were not only sister lodges in action , but in heart . Bro . Mason in reply said he had a great many failings , and one vvas that he could not make a speech , but he would return his hearty thanks for the kind manner in which the proposition made by the Pattison Lodge over which he had the honour to preside had been received by
them that night , and also for the Master s special invite to him to attend that meeting . It vvas pretty well-known that the Pattison Lodge prided itself upon its excellent working , but a great deal of that had been taken out of him that night when he saw how splendidly the work vvas done there . The work done by the Deacons was exceptionally good , while the W . M . had impressed him more than ordinarily by his eloquent rendering of the Third Degree . Then with respect to the proposed entertainment of Grand
Lodge it vvas a great undertaking for the Pattison Lodge . Now if the United Military lodge could see its way to join the Pattison Lodge it would be a very great help . And then there was the difficulty of getting a place suitable to entertain the visitors . He trusted however that that difficulty would be overcome . He again thanked the VV . M . and brethren for his reception , and concluded by assuring them that although this vvas his first visit to the United Military Lodge it should not be his last . The other toasts were "The Initiate , " " The Past Masters , " "The Officers , " and the Tyler's toast .

E . West , P . M . 107 G , P . P . G . P .
