The banquet which was subsequently held was of firstclass description , and great taste had been displayed in the decorations of the table and dining hall by Mr . Bourne . Bro . Harry Gorden Small , the newly-installed VV . M ., presided , supported by a large number of brethren . The loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured , as also " The
Health of Bro . Lord Egerton of Tatton , Prov . G . M . ; Bro . Sir Horatio Lloyd , D . P . G . M ., and the rest of the Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past . " The last-named toast was proposed by the I . P . M ., who alluded to the great assistance Sir Horatio rendered to his brother , the Prov . Grand Master , in carrying on the Charitable work of the
province . Bro . Lindsell , P . G . W ., in responding , thanked the brethren of the Alan Lodge for their magnificent hospitality . It had been well said that the Alan Lodge , though young in point of time , had made a position on account of its Charities second to none . There had been a glorious rivalry between his own lodge—the Stamford—as to which
should occupy the first position in the latter respect , and while he did not ask which was the first , he did know thisthat the Stamford and Alan Lodges occupied first and second places amongst the lodges for the province . He hoped it would not be long before the children of the Alan Lodge would be led to take a position in the Prov . Grand Lodge , thus adding to the honour of the Alan Lodge and
strengthening the counsels of the province . Bros . Finch , Pochin , Martin , and Cookson also responded . Bro . Finch , in particular , bore testimony to the efficient service the brethren of the Alan Lodge rendered at the foundation stone-laying of the schools at Wilmslow . He felt extremely proud of the Alan Lodge , and hoped it might be attended by a career of success and prosperity .
Bro . the Hon . Alan de Tatton Egerton , I . P . M ., proposed "The Health of the Newly-installed Master . " He felt it a great privilege indeed to do so , especially as he had been asked to become the first Master of the lodge , and he felt that his successor would continue the good work which had been begun . He felt sure that the work would be thoroughly done , and that when Bro . Small occupied his then position
he would be able to look back upon a good record , and that what had be done had been for the benefit of Freemasonry in the province . 1 here never was a time when Freemasonry had taken so great a hold as it had done of late years , due to the efforts of their Grand Master and the leaders of the Craft , and it was their duty and the duty of every good Mason to assist in carrying out the work and
maintaining the traditions of the Craft . He had no doubt their new W . M . would not only hand down those traditions , but he would hand down the work of the Alan Lodge as efficient as it had been commenced . He asked them to drink health and success to Bro . Gordon Small during his year of office . The toast was drunk with enthusiasm .
Bro . Small , who had a most enthusiastic reception , said he was deeply gratified by the manner in which the toast of his health was received . He felt that it was a great responsibility for so young a Mason as himself to take the management of the affairs of the Alan Lodge , but he trusted with the assistance of the members that he would be able to carry them on successfully . They started 19
strong , and now numbered 32 . He thought they had a fair record for so young a lodge , especially as they were second on the list for charitable effort during the past year . Next year they were going to try again , and he trusted that when he left the chair , the honour of the Alan Lodge would be as unsullied as when handed to him , and that they would be
able to say of him that he had faithfully discharged the high trust reposed in him . The other toasts included " The I . P . M ., " "The Installing Masters , " "The Visiting Brethren , " and others . The musical arrangements were carried out by Bros . Howard , Stewart , H . Everett , and Anderton . Bro . Hopkinson , VV . M . 1459 , acted as accompanist .

EAST MOLESEY . Arnold Lodge ( No . 1981 ) . —This lodge met at the Castle Hotel on Tuesday , the Gth inst ., to hold its installation meeting - . The fixture for this meeting differed from its previous annual meetings . The day appointed for the installation meeting having been altered from the first Tuesday in January of each year to the first Tuesday in
October , the alteration it is hoped will add materially to the comfort of the brethren as a summer lodge . An emergency meeting held a week previous had cleared up all arrears of work , leaving nothing but the necessary routine of the installation ceremony to be rehearsed on the present occasion . The lodge was opened by the Worshipful Master , Bro . H . G . Shelley , P . G . S ., when he was supported by the
following officers and brethren : Bros . M . Spiegel , P . M ., as S . W ., ' G . A . Ball , J . W ., VV . M . elect ; J . W . Moorman , I . P . M . ; W . Youldon , P . Spiegel , Collins , and others . The minutes of the previous regular and emergency
meetings having been read and confirmed , the Auditors' report and balance-sheet , which showed a most substantial balance in favour of the lodge , were received and adopted . The VV . M . then proceeded to install Bro . George Alfred Ball , J . W . and W . M . elect , who was presented by Bro . George Moorman , P . M ., P . P . G . P ., and was duly obligated and entrusted . A Board of Past Masters being formed , Bro . G .
A . Ball was regularly installed into the chair of K . S . The new VV . M . then appointed and invested his officers as follows : Bros . H . J . Shelley , P . G . S ., I . P . M . j J . J . Moorman performed their parts they were accorded a hearty vote of thanks , to he
inscribed on the minutes of the lodge . Bro . Shelley was presented with a very handsome Past Master's jewel containing a special bar denoting that he had filled the office of Master during the greater part of the years 1 S 90 and 1 S 91 . An elegantly chased tea-pot was presented by the brethren to Mrs . Shellev .
Bros . G . Norman and Shelley having returned thanks , the lodge was closed , when a large company of distinguished brethren , including the following visitors , joined them to a banquet provided by the host , Bro . Grand Officers , Present and Past , " to which Bro . F . West , D . P . G . M ., most suitably responded , saying how pleased he was to be present that evening , and to see the progress being made by the Arnold Lodge in their
good home , and congratulated the lodge on its splendid working . The retiring VV . M . then , as a memento of his terms of office , asked all present to accept a cabinet portrait of himself taken in Masonic clothing by Bro . Bultz . The toast of "The VV . M . " was most enthusiastically given , and , as the first initiate of the lodge , the members
telt they might safely leave the welfare of the lodge in his hands , and they all trusted he might have a pleasant and successful year of ofiice . The other customary toasts followed , and the proceedings , enlivened by songs and recitations , which contributed greatly to the p leasures of the occasion , brought a most pleasant and enjoyable evening to a close .

LEEDS . Prudence Lodge ( No . 2069 ) . — On Saturday , the ioth instant , at the Masonic Hall , Great Georgestreet , there was a large and representative gathering of the brethren of this prosperous lodge for the purpose of taking part in the scroll for W . M . The W . M ., Bro . J . J . Fretwell , was supported by Bros . C . Middleton , I . P . M . j
Rev . Dr . Smyth , P . G . Chap . ; Tudor Trevor , P . M ., D . C . and Charity Steward ; C L . Mason , P . M ., P . P . G . Treas . ; T . Atkinson , S . VV . ; R . Abbott , J . W . ; A . M ., on behalf of the lodge , cordially congratulated the S . VV . upon the signal honour which had been conferred upon him , and expressed the confident opinion that in his hands the future of the
lodge was assured . In honouring Bro . Atkinson the brethren had honoured themselves , for no more suitable brother could be found in the lodge . He assured the VV . M . elect of the co-operation and assistance of every brother during his year of office , and added that the best wish he could convey to their brother was that his year of office might prove as happy and harmonious as it was the
proud boast of the outgoing Master that his had been . Bro . Atkinson heartily reciprocated the good wishes of the brethren , and assured them that in accepting the position as head of his mother lodge he did so with the full intention of maintaining the old landmarks , and carrying on the lodge on those sound lines which had heretofore so amply resulted in its success . The election of Treasurer was next
proceeded with , and Bro . C . L . Mason being again unanimously selected for that office , an honour which he suitably acknowledged . Bro . Trevor then proposed that a Past Master's jewel be presented to the outgoing W . M ., Bro . Fretwell , as a mark of esteem and brotherly love , and as a token of the great satisfaction and admiration felt by the
lodge for the manner in which he had carried on the business of the past 12 months . This was warmly seconded by Bro . Middleton , supported by the S . VV . and several brethren , and carried unanimously . The rest of the business was of a routine character , and was quickly dispatched . The brethren afterwards met at high tea , and the evening was spent in social communion .
PORTISHEAD . Eldon Lodge ( No . 1755 ) . —VISIT OI- - LORIJ DUNGARVAN , P . G . M . SOMERSET . — Saturday , the ioth instant , was a red-letter day in the annals of this lodge , and , notwithstanding the inclement weather , a goodly number of brethren assembled at the Royal Hotel to support the VV . M ., Bro . E . Davey , upon the occasion of
the Prov . G . M ., the Right Hon . Viscount Dungarvan , paying the lodge a fraternal visit . The following brethren were present : Bros . E . Davey , W . M . ; W . T . Shapland , I . P . M . ; W . K . Thomas , P . M ., as S . W . ; C P . Billing , J . W . ; J . R . Thebridge , P . M ., Treas . ; C . L . Thomas . P . M ., Sec . ; A . J . Tonkin , S . D . j C . Hazell , J . D . ; E . Spencer , 138 S j J . H . Fulford , GSGj Theo . Carrington , J . D . GS 6 j H . E . de Villiers , 1706 ;
and T . D . C Leventt , 68 . Apologies regretting inability to attend were received from Bros . Bramble , D . Prov . G . M . of Bristol ; _ R . C . Else , Deputy Prov . G . M . Somersetshire j Dr . Lionel Weatherley , P . M . j Rev . Weatherley , P . M . j and others . After the lodge had been opened the Prov . G . M ., Bro . the Right Hon . Viscount Dungarvan , was received in due form ,
and in the name of the lodge cordially welcomed by the W . M . The Prov . Grand Master , in reply , expressed regret that circumstances prevented him being with them at the installation meeting last month . Nothing would have afforded him greater enjoyment than to have seen the working of the beautiful Masonic ritual in the Eldon Lodge . Some business of a formal and charitable nature having
been disposed of , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to a banquet . On the removal of the cloth the Worshipful Master proposed " The Queen and the Craft" and "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , M . W . G . M . "
In proposing the next toast the Worshipful Master said : 1 rise to submit to you " The Health of the P . G . M ., Lord Dungarvan , " and must tell you that it is impossible for me to give full expression to my feelings in requesting you to join me in drinking to his health . 1 am sure the whole of the brethren unite with me in
the joy we feel at having the P . G . M . amongst us to-day , and to learn from him that he intends to visit our lodge again . I may tell you that the P . G . M . has already visited 12 lodges in the province , besides performing various Masonic duties in and outside the province of Somersetshire , which lively interest augurs well for the future of Freemasonry in our district . Speaking
personally , 1 shall never forget his visit to our lodge during my year of office , and shall ever look back upon this event of my life with great pleasure and pride , and I feel confident the important incident will live long in the memories of the brethren of the Eldon Lodge . The Provincial Grand Master , on rising to reply , was received with enthusiasm . He said : Worshipful Master
and brethren ,- —It is with feelings that I can hardly express , that I thank you for the very hearty reception you have given me to-night . 1 must say I was disappointed , as I know your W . M . was , that we had no ceremony , as whenever 1 attend a lodge I always like to find one more Englishman added to our ranks . 1 am a young Mason , but a very keen one , and like all work to be properly done .
There is one thing worthy of note about Freemasonry , anu that is that it distributes , in an unostentatious way > £ 50 , 000 a year in modesty Charity . Do you realise what Freemasonry means to the future of these chudien that our subscriptions go to support and educate . Do you think of the comfort they live in , thanks our Ins . itutions , and sometimes reflect that these boy may some day themselves become Masons and support ^ of these same Institutions ? There is one thing I may tell y

G . S ., I . P . M . j J . J . Wright , S . W . j J . W . Chapman , J . W . j W . Youldon , P . M ., P . P . S . G . D ., Treas . ( ninth time ) j J . VV . Moorman , P . M . 1 G 3 S , P . P . A . G . D . C , Sec . , D . C . j R . E . Catterson , Stwd . j and W . Lane , Tyler ( tenth time ) . Bro . Shelley then resumed the ceremony , and Bro . G . Moorman concluded by reciting the several addresses most eloquently . For the admirable manner with which both Bros . Shelley and G .
Mayo , in his well-known excellent style : Bros . F . West , Deputy Prov . G . M . j R . H . Goddard , I . P . M . 1155 ; VV . Roots , P . M . 1273 j A . Holmes , P . M . 54 SJ J . J . West , P . The usual loyal and Grand Lodge toasts were respectively drunk , and duly honoured . The next toast was " The Prov . G . M ., D . P . G . M ., and the rest of the Prov .

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.
LEEDS . Prudence Lodge ( No . 2069 ) . — On Saturday , the ioth instant , at the Masonic Hall , Great Georgestreet , there was a large and representative gathering of the brethren of this prosperous lodge for the purpose of taking part in the scroll for W .
M ., Bro . E . Davey , upon the occasion of
the Prov . G . M ., the Right Hon . Viscount Dungarvan , paying the lodge a fraternal visit . The following brethren were present : Bros . E . Davey , W . M . ; W . T . Shapland , I . P . M . ; W .
