Wills , H ., was a Past Master of the Selwyn Lodge , and while in that position had a most remarkable year of office , and during the past year had performed the duties of J . in an exemplary manner . Comp . Beecroft , J ., was a very enthusiastic companion , and vvould do his utmost for the chapter , and perform his duties to the very best of his ability . The M . E . Z . added that having two such co-Principals , the work of the respective chairs would be ably ca'ried out .

Z ., in very appreciative terms , gave the toast of "The Visitors , " whom ihe companions of the Selwyn Chapter were always glad to welcome .

Comp . Telling , M . E . Z . 2 iji 2 , in reply , said he felt a very great pleasure in responding fen the visitors . He had heard much of the working of the chapter , and he was glad to acknowledge that the installation and exaltation ceremonies hid been splendidly performed . 'The chapter ought to bs proud of such Principals . He trusted he might emulate the working and nuke a lasting impression on his candidate in a few ilajs' time , as he was confident had been made upon the prerent occasion . Comps . Witty , Snell , Kipps , Alford , and Rice also nude very suitable remarks .

The M . E . Z . next gave the toast of " The Past Principals , " who bad performed most efficient services in the chapter . The I . P . Z ., Comp . Stone , had worked haul in founding the chapler under Comps . Gauntlett and Lightfoot , and during the past year had conducted the affairs of the chapter most satisfactorily . He had the greatest possible pleasure in presenting the P . Z . jewel to him , with the earnest desire tint he might live very many years to adorn the chapter . Comp . Walter Davies , the first M . E . Z ., was absent , but had not forgotten the chapter , having sent his hearty ciwRialulalions .

Ccmp . C II . Slore replied , thanlring the M . E . Z . for his kind rrrnirks and also for Ihe handsome jewel so heartily given . He hoped his endeavours would be extended over manyjearsin furthering the success of the chapter , and pledged himself that nothing should be wanting on his part to attain that object . , Comes . Gauntlett and Lighlfoot also ably responded .

In presenting the toast of " The Officers , " the M . E . Z . sad that more efficient rllicers could not be , for they had performed their duties admirably , especially Comp . Grummant , P . Z ., who had been the father of the chapter , and had conducted its meetings since its formation . All the Principals looked to him for guidance , which he readily gave , especially in the Star Chapter of Instruction , of which he was the esteemed Preceptor .

Comps . Adams , P . S ., and Grummant ably responded , the latter remarking the jikasure it gave him to see the duties carried out so ably . He certainly was delighted wilh tV . e lesults achieved in the Star Chapter of Instruction , and must confess that the ivoik of the Royal Arch was his great study and pleasure . The Janitor ' s toast closed a very happy meeting . An excellent programme of music was arranged under Comp . W . J . Kipps , A . K . A . M ., F . CO ., ably assisted b y Air . George Adolph and Bro . T . Milton Stamp . Comp . Kipps gave some splendid pianoforte solos .

PROVINCIAL GRAND MARK LODGE OF LINCOLNSHIRE .

The annual muting of the Provincial Grand Mark Lodge tf Lincolnshire was held at Horncaslle on Thursdiy , the 8 ih inst . Hro . the E irl ol Yarborough , Prov . G . M ., was in the ch iir , and was numerously supported by the Prov . Grand Officers , bo ' . h Present and Past , and also of the brethren of ihe piovince .

A ter Provincial Grand Lodge had been opened , the minutes of the last . annual meeting were read and confirmed , ar . cl the roll of Prov . G . Officers and loc ' ges was called . The PROV . GRAND MASTER , in the course of his address , complained of the want of courtesy on the part of those brethren who were appointed to Provincial office , and yet were absent from their posts without even tendering

an apology for their absence . His lordship remarked that when brethren were appointed to office the very least that was expected of them was that 'hey should attend and discharge their duties faithfully . Subsequentl y his lordship appointed the following brethren as his officers for the ensuing year :

M . ; Harris , S . W . ; Eardley , J . W . ; G . Wood , P . M ., Preceptor ; IT . Weston , Treas . ; J . Mason , Sec . ; H . Mills , S . D . ; Frost , J . D . ; Williams , I . G . ; West , P . M .: Roberts , Flemming , Drewell , and Dingley .

T he lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting read and confirmed . llro . Weston worked the ist Section of the Lecture . 'The ceremony of initiator , was reheared , Bro . Flemming acting as cm liihte . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree , and the W . M . rehearsed the ceremony of passing , Bro . Roberts being the candidate . The lodge having been resumed to the First Degree , the W . M . rose for Ihe lirst , second , and third limes , and Bro . Frost , 174 ^ , was unanimously elected a joining member . Bro . Hirris , S . VV ., was elected W . M . for the next meeting . A letter of condolence was ordered to be sent to the widow of Bro . Driver , a deceased member of the lodge . The lodge was then closed .

STAR CHAPTER , No . 1275 . A meeting was held at the Stirling Castle Hotel , Church-street , Camberwell , S . E ., on Friday , the 9 th inst . Present : Comps . Telling , M . E . Z . ; Eckersall , H . ; Barr , J . ; Wm . Dawson , acting Preceptor ; C . IT . Stone , P . Z ., SE . ; Lewis , S . N . ; Benedetti , P . Z ., P . S . ; Cureton , Derham , Dunn , Willcox , Hardman , Bannister , and Plant .

T he chapter was declared open , and the minutes of the previous convocation were read and confirmed . The ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . Hardman personating the candidate . Comp . IT . Cornford was elected M . E . Z . for the next meeting . A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Comp . Telling for reheirsing the ceremony of AI . E . Z ., as also to Comp . Wm . Eckersall , IT ., for rehearsing the cerem ony of II . for the lirst time . The chapter was then closed .

BRO . W . S . HOOPER , whose installation as Worshipful Master of the Strand Lodge , No , 1987 , is fully recorded in another column , first saw the li ght of day in 1 S 113 , and was educated at Dulwich College . He was initiated in the Strand Lodge and e ! e ; tei W . M . exactly 10 years after his initiation—the same night . Our brother is also S . W . of the Eccentric Lodge , No . 24 SS , and one of its founders . He is a Life Governor of the " Boys , "and in 1895 he went up as Steward for that Institution

for the Eccentric Lodge , taking with him the substantial sum of , 6106 us . 6 d ' He is also a member of the Eccentric Chapter and the Savage Club Mark Lodge . He is also a member of the National Liberal and Eccentric Clubs , and is on the Committee of the latter . He is well known in insurance circles , being the City Agency Superintendent of the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation , Limited . As a Mason , he possesses a sound knowledge of his duties , perfect in the ritual , an impressive style , geniality of manner , and readiness of speech , which mark him as one of the successes in the annals of the Strand Lodge .
