The usual loyal and Masonic toasts werj proposed and received in a hearty manner . The toasts of "Her Majesty the Oueen , " "H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , K . G ., M . W . G . M ., and Officers of Grand Lodge , " " Bro . the Right Hon . Kir M . W . Ridley , Bart ., M . P ., R . W . P . G . M . ; Bro . Aid . R . H . Holmes , J . P ., W . D . P . G . Bro . Councillor A . Scott , P . P . G . Std . Br ., replied on behalf of the Prov . Grand Lodge , and said he hardly expected being called upon to reply that evening . He said there was nothing new he could say , and he felt sure the Grand Officers and Prov . Grand Officers were all highly appreciated for their arduous labours by the brethren not only of the Province of Northumberland , but also that of Durham . Bro . J . T . Stark then gave " The W . M ., Bro . J . Sutcliffe . " He said he was proud of having been asked for the second time to be the Installing Master of the lodge , and

he advised all officers to do their very best during the ensuing year for Bro . Sutcliffe as they had done in the past . The way the work had been done during the last two years augured well indeed for Bro . Sutclifte ' s year of office . He only hoped that the VV . M . would have good health to fulfil that position , and he would always be prepared to assist him if he ( the W . M . ) found it necessary . The W . M . suitably replied , and then proceeded to propose "The Installing Master . " He said in Bro . Stark they had one of the hardest working Masons possible to

be found . He was always ready to assist anybody , and willing to fill any position in the lodge . It was mainly owing to his instrumentality that , although this was only the second anniversary , the funds of the ledge were on the soundest bans of any lodge in Northumberland , when , after paying all debts , they had to their credit in the bank over £ 194 ; and he only hoped Bro . Stark would lie long spared to keep his eye , nut only on the work of the lodge , but also on the finances . Bro . J . T . Stark said he thanked the VV . M . for his remarks , and that it had always been his desire to make Swinburne Lodge one of the most successful in the Province of

Northumberland , and he was glad to notice that they had many brethren of quality . He believed in quality—not quantity . lie had a most capable I . P . M . in lira . Holloway , and he only hoped he would ere long be back again in Newcastle to fulfil his Masonic duties . He would not keep them any longer , but thank them for the kind manner in which they had received it , and repeat that he was always ready to assist any member of the lodge in Masonry . For " 'lhe Visitors" Bros . R . Plumpton , I . P . M . 4 S 1 ; White , I . P . M . 406 ; A . Richardson , W . M . elect 25 GS ; F . W . Richardson , W . M . elect 2571 ; A . C . Messer , W . M ; 991 ; and C . Hodgson , W . M . 651 ) , all suitably replied . " The Officers " and the Tyler's toast concluded a most successful meeting .

The addresses o the Installing Master were given in a most impressive manner by the Installing Master . The names of three candidates were then proposed , and the " Hearty good wishes " of a large number of visiting brethren having been given , the lodge was closed , and the brethren wended their way to the banqueting hall . *

P ., W . D . P . G . M . ; and Officers of the Prov . Grand Lodge of Northumberland ; " and " Bro . Canon Tristram , W . D . P . G . M ., and Officers of the Prov . Grand Lodge of Durham , " were heartily responded to .
