Prov . G . M . and other brethren . The sum of 10 guineas was voted for the South African Masonic Relief Fund .
A very large number of telegrams and letters expressing regret at inability to be present were received from distinguished brethren in different parts of the country , and also from many brethren of the province . At the close of Prov . Grand Lodge , the Dep . Prov . G . M . presided at the banquet which immediately followed , and which was numerously attended .

Chapter having been opened and the Grand Officers saluted , he summons convening the meeting and the minutes of the last annual invocation were read , as well as letters of apology for their inability to be jresent from Lord Leigh , G . Superintendent , the Earl of Warwick , Grand H ., and others .
The roll of Prov . G . Officers and that of the chapters in the province laving been called , PROV . G . SCRIBE E . read his report , and also the Prov . J . Treasurer ' s statement of account .
Three companions having been nominated for the office of Prov . G . rreasurer , a ballot was taken , when it appeared that Comp . DENNE , the sum of 20 guineas was voted from the funds of the chapter for the purchase of a jewel or other token of esteem for presentation to Comp . Swinden on his retiring from the office of Prov . Grand Scribe E . after nine years most valuable services . PROV . G-H . referred in feeling terms to the death of Comp . Wood , late Prov . Grand Treasurer , and several other companions .
It was resolved on the proposition of the PROV . G . H . to form a general chapter of instruction for the province , and the First Principals of the several chapters were appointed a committee to carry out the arrangements . The name of Comp . Bladon was suggested as Preceptor , and he promised to do all that he possibly could to further the scheme .
Prov . G . Chapter having been closed , the companions dined together , An excellent musical programme was provided , the principal items ot which —the harp solos by Comp . French Davis—were very greatly appreciated . There were present over 60 companions , including Comps . Beech , Collins , Fridlander , and Swindon , all four of whom arc Officers of the G . The annual meeting of the above Provincial Grand Chapter was held on Monday afternoon in the fine old Masonic Hall belonging to the Weymouth brethren , and under the banner of the All Souls' Chapter , No . 170 , and under the presidency of Comp . M . J . Guest , G . Supt . ; Comp . Col . W . E . Brymer , M . P ., as Prov , G . H . ; Comp . Zillwood Millidge ( in the absence through illness of Comp . Dr . Sawton ) as Prov . G . J . A numerous body of Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , and many representative companions were present .
The Provincial Grand Chapter having been opened , the roll was called , and all the chapters in the province were found to be represented . The minutes of the last Provincial Grand Chapter were read and confirmed . The PROV . G . S . E . produced and read his report , which showed that the Degree was fully maintaining its excellent position in the province , 23 members having been added to the different chapters in the province during the year .
The Prov . G . ireasurers account was of a highly satisfactory character , a sum of over £ 60 being in hand . It was regretted the Prov . G . Treasurer , Comp . the Rev . W . M . Heath , was unable to be present , but his place was ably filled by Comp . W . J . Fletcher .
