brief remarks he congratulated the W . M . upon the able manner in which he had carried out the Third Degree that evening . He hoped that the W . M . would have an opportunity of showing his proficiency in the four ceremonies of the Craft before he vacated the chair . Bro . Middleweek , in reply , expressed his thanks to the l . P . M . for the kind manner in which he had proposed the

toast . He regretted exceedingly that no candidate had been proposed for initiation that evening . He , however , wished that the lodge would be strengthened by the admission of new members before the time arrived for him to surrender his position to his successor . Bro . ] . Barns responded on behalf of "The Past Masters '' in a humorous vein .

Bros . R . W . Forge , E . Warner , Windeatt , and Mullcr acknowledged the toast of " The Treasurer , Secretary and Officers . " Bro . F . L . Chandler , P . M ., with the W . Masters permission , proposed , in a very kind and sympathetic

manner , the health of one of the members of the lodge who had been very unwell for some time . The proceedings then terminated . During the evening Bros . Rullle , Packinton , T . Middleweek , and A . Hall instrumentally and vocally entertained the brethren . The next meeting of the lodge will be held on the last Wednesday in January .

Past , " Comp . George Everett , after speaking in high terms of the Three Grand Principals of the Order and subordinate officers , said he trusted that all members of the chapter having the right to attend the next Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge would do so , in order to support the motion of the Pro . Grand Master , Lord Lathom , as to the increase of six new Grand Officers .

He felt sure that the motion in its modified form would receive unanimous approval . Comps . Salter , Higgins , and Gardner responded at length on behalf of " The Past Principals , " and Comps . Smith , Dennis , and Colwell for " The Officers . " During the intervals Comps . Arter , Everett , Lundie , Gardner , and others , rendered the proceedings entertaining and agreeable by their instrumental and vocal abilities .
