received , the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to refreshment . Upon the removal of the cloth , the W . M . gave the customary toasts . Bro . R . Forge responded for "The Provincial Grand Officers " in a neat speech . The l . P . M . gave "The W . M . " In the course of his

brief remarks he congratulated the W . M . upon the able manner in which he had carried out the Third Degree that evening . He hoped that the W . M . would have an opportunity of showing his proficiency in the four ceremonies of the Craft before he vacated the chair . Bro . Middleweek , in reply , expressed his thanks to the l . P . M . for the kind manner in which he had proposed the

toast . He regretted exceedingly that no candidate had been proposed for initiation that evening . He , however , wished that the lodge would be strengthened by the admission of new members before the time arrived for him to surrender his position to his successor . Bro . ] . Barns responded on behalf of "The Past Masters '' in a humorous vein .

Bros . R . W . Forge , E . Warner , Windeatt , and Mullcr acknowledged the toast of " The Treasurer , Secretary and Officers . " Bro . F . L . Chandler , P . M ., with the W . Masters permission , proposed , in a very kind and sympathetic

manner , the health of one of the members of the lodge who had been very unwell for some time . The proceedings then terminated . During the evening Bros . Rullle , Packinton , T . Middleweek , and A . Hall instrumentally and vocally entertained the brethren . The next meeting of the lodge will be held on the last Wednesday in January .

Kennington Chapter ( No . 1381 ) . —This prosperous transpontine chapter held a meeting at the Horns Tavern , Kennington Park , on the 10 th inst ., when there were in attendance , amongst others , Comps . Dowling , M . E . Z . ; Austin , H . ; Sims , j . ; Henry Higgins , P . Z ., P . P . G . D . C , S . E . ; Smith , S . N . ; George Everett , P . Z ., P . G . Treas ., Treas . ; Dennis , P . a visitor . The minutes of the previous convocation having been duly read and confirmed , it was resolved unanimously "That in future the chapter meetings shall be held on the second Thursday in the months of February , May , October , and December , instead of the first Thursday in the months of February , April , October , and December . business having been transacted , apologies for non-attendance were received from Comps . C . H . Kohler , P . Z . ; H . J . Lardner , P . Z ., P . P . G . Std . Br . ; E . Ayling , P . Z . ; and others . Refreshment followed labour , when the M . E . Z . presided most genially . In responding for "The Grand Officers , Present and

Past , " Comp . George Everett , after speaking in high terms of the Three Grand Principals of the Order and subordinate officers , said he trusted that all members of the chapter having the right to attend the next Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge would do so , in order to support the motion of the Pro . Grand Master , Lord Lathom , as to the increase of six new Grand Officers .

He felt sure that the motion in its modified form would receive unanimous approval . Comps . Salter , Higgins , and Gardner responded at length on behalf of " The Past Principals , " and Comps . Smith , Dennis , and Colwell for " The Officers . " During the intervals Comps . Arter , Everett , Lundie , Gardner , and others , rendered the proceedings entertaining and agreeable by their instrumental and vocal abilities .

Fidelity Chapter ( No . 477 ) . —The installation meeting of this chapter was held on Tuesday , the 6 th inst ., at the Masonic Chambers , when there was a very large assembly of members and visitors , including Comps . After passing the Treasurer ' s statement , which showed the chapter had a most substantial balance in hand , the convocation was closed , and the companions adjourned to the banqueting room , where an excellent repast was served by Comp . C . H . Berry . The usual patriotic and Masonic toasts were given by the M . E . Z ., and duly responded to , while the singing of Comps . Morris , Parry , and G . Poole-Poole was much appreciated . '

Williams , then rose to congratulate Bro . S . Cochrane , P . M ., on his nomination as Grand Treasurer , and as no opposition is coming forward , he is to be considered the Grand Treasurer of England , an honour which the whole of the Craft confers .

It is therefore the greatest honour which could be bestowed on any Freemason . Bro . Cochrane replied , and thanked the brethren for their support and good wishes . HARLESDEN . —ST . J ' LODGE ( NO . M . would have an opportunity of showing his proficiency in the four ceremonies of the Craft before he vacated the chair . Bro . Middleweek , in reply , expressed his thanks to the l . P . M . for the kind manner in which he had proposed the

toast . He regretted exceedingly that no candidate had been proposed for initiation that evening . He , however , wished that the lodge would be strengthened by the admission of new members before the time arrived for him to surrender his position to his successor . Bro . ] . Barns responded on behalf of "The Past Masters '' in a humorous vein .

manner , the health of one of the members of the lodge who had been very unwell for some time . The proceedings then terminated . During the evening Bros . Rullle , Packinton , T . Grand Master , Lord Lathom , as to the increase of six new Grand Officers .

He felt sure that the motion in its modified form would receive unanimous approval . Comps . Salter , Higgins , and Gardner responded at length on behalf of " The Past Principals , " and Comps . Smith , Dennis , and Colwell for " The Officers . " During the intervals Comps . Arter , Everett , Lundie , Gardner , and others , rendered the proceedings entertaining and agreeable by their instrumental and vocal abilities .
