At 33 , Golden Square , this ( Friday ) evening the installation of the old Rose Croix Chapter , the Invicta , will be held , when III . Bro . Henry Lovegrove , 30 , who has been for many years a member of the chapter , will be installed as M . W . S . St . Anne ' s Lodge , Fast Looe . on Wednesday , the 7 th inst ., unanimrusly elected Bro . S . Trehane , W . M . ; Bro . J . Crossman , Treasurer ; and Br > . James Oliver , Tyler ; and arranged to hold the installation meeting and banquet on January 4 th .
The Duchess Dowager of Marlborcugh and Lady Randolph Churchill are residing at Branksome Dene , near Bournemouth , which has been placed at their disposal by Lord Wimborne . Lady Randolph is very much better , but at present she is unable to walk .
The Prince of Wales and the Duke of York attended divine service in St . George ' s Chapel , Windsor , on Tuesday afternoon , and afterwards visited Eton College , over which they were conducted by Dr . Warre , the Head Master .
M . B . Foster and Sons ( Limited ) , have just received advice that their " , Bugle Brand " ale and " Bugle Brand " stout , have each been awarded a gold medal at the Kimberley Exhibition , South Africa , ilwy being the only British bottlers who have received this distinction .

We are glad also to earn that scarlet fever is decreasing , the number of fatal
cases being very much below the average . The Leeds Smithfield Club Cattle Show was opened on Tuesday by the Mayor , and to judge from the exhibits , it promises to be one of the best ever held . The number of entries is larger than it has ever been before , while among the exhibitors who have been successful in winning prizes are the Prince of Wales , Bro . the Marques of Zetland , the Marqu i s c . f Londonderry , Bro . the Earl of Durham , Bro . he Earl of Londesboroup . fi , and Sir J . Prince ar . d Princess of Wales , the Duke of York , the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh , the Duke and Duchess of Connaught , the Duchess of Albany , and Prince and Princess Henry of Battenberg . The service was of the usual character , and later in the day the membersofthe Queen ' s household were allowed to visit the mausoleini .

Beiks , who has ably officiated . is Preceptor to the lodge . In making the presentation the
W . M . spoke of the nourishing condiiion of the lor ' ge , and said he knew of no other that surpassed it in numerical strength . He acknowledged the efficiency and ceurlesy with whi ' h Bro . Newbery had discharged his duties , and expressed the pleasure it gave him to act for the brethren of the lodge in making tre presentation . 1 he ( Jit was suitably acknowledged by Bro . Newbery .

Hughan , are now for sale , the members of I he province having been supplied with the number required . I hese the author has agreed to offer at half-a-guiiica each , post free , so that Mascnic libraries and Masonic students may become
subscribers to the work , and thus secure copies of a volume , which it is anticipated will soon be at a premium . As the bonk extends to considerably over 200 pages , and is tastefully bound in cloth , the small sum fixed can scarcely cover the cost of production . Mr . H . Parry Gilbey , founder of the well-known firm of wine merchants , whose head-quarters are located at what used to be the Pantheon , Oxford-street , died very suddenly from a stroke of paralysis on Monday at the age of 6 S
years . The Princess of Wales , accompanied by the Duke of York and the Princesses Victoria and Maud , left Sandringham for Marlborough House . In the evening the Prince and Princess and their son and two daughters left London for Windsor on a visit to the Oueen .
LODGE LA FRANCE . In our last report of this lodge we spoke of Bro . E . St . Clair as being Vice-President of the Masonic Institutions . We should have said " Vice-Patron , " as our worthy brother has qualified as such to all three Charities .
Sir Bernard Burke , Ulster King-of-Arms , compiler of the well-known Peerage which bears his name , and author of many works on heraldric , historical , and antiquarian subjects , died at Dublin Castle on Tuesday , in the 78 th year of his age . He was appointed to the office in which he so greatly distinguished himself as far back as the year 1853 .

Bro . General Lord Roberls , V . C , Commander-in-Chief in India , completed 41 years of military service on Monday , having received his first commission as second lieutenant in the Bengal Artillery on the 12 th December , 1 S 51 , when he was 19 years of age . His lordship has taken part in most of the wars in India which have taken p lace since then , and gained his Victoria Cross during the Mutiny campaigns .
Princess Christian and her daughter , the Princess Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein , took part in a concert given at the St . Paul's Mission House , Walworth , on Monday , under the direction of the Vicar . The Princess , having played Hertzogenberg ' s "Wreath" and Schumann ' s '' Narsbaum , " she and her daughter gave as a duet Rubenstein ' s '' Wedding March " and D'Ourville ' s "Hunting Chorus , "
the applause with which the several pieces were received being very enthusiastic . The Lodge of He-pi , which celebrated the installation of its Worshipful Master on Monday , is not only the oldest lodge in this district , but it has with one exception the
largest voting power for the Masonic Charities of any lodge in West Yorkshire . The lodge hoi ' s between 1100 and 1200 votes in perpetuity . It lost 143 votes through the late Aid . Thos . Hill . Bro . General Lord Roberls , V . C , Commander-in-Chief in India , completed 41 years of military service on Monday , having received his first commission as second lieutenant in the Bengal Artillery on the 12 th December , 1 S 51 , when he was 19 years of age . His lordship has taken part in most of the wars in India which have taken p lace since then , and gained his Victoria Cross during the Mutiny campaigns .
Princess Christian and her daughter , the Princess Victoria of Schleswig-Holstein , took part in a concert given at the St . Paul's Mission House , Walworth , on Monday , under the direction of the Vicar . The Princess , having played Hertzogenberg ' s "Wreath" and Schumann ' s '' Narsbaum , " she and her daughter gave as a duet Rubenstein ' s '' Wedding March " and D'Ourville ' s "Hunting Chorus , "
the applause with which the several pieces were received being very enthusiastic . The Lodge of He-pi , which celebrated the installation of its Worshipful Master on Monday , is not only the oldest lodge in this district , but it has with one exception the
largest voting power for the Masonic Charities of any lodge in West Yorkshire . The lodge hoi ' s between 1100 and 1200 votes in perpetuity . It lost 143 votes through the late Aid . Thos . Hill . A Captain Goade , of the Belgian Army , was recently walking over the ground on which the battle of Fontenoy was lought in 1745 , when he espied a seal , on which was engraved an tttigy of the Duke of Cumberland . The Captain had the relic cleaned and forwarded it to the Belgian Consul-General in London for the purpose of
presentation to the Queen . Her Majesty has been graciously pltastd to accept the relic which has thus been found after having been hidden in the ground for little short of 150 years . 1 he seal was picked up between Fontenoy and Kamecroix , where the French and English guards encountered each other during the battle .
