Bro . S . H . Meyers , W . M ., who was accorded an enthusiastic reception , said that when he was initiated seven years ago he made up his mind to climb up the iadder and arrive at the chair of the lodge . O . ving to various circumstances , it had not taken so long as he had anticipated , but he hoped he had given satisfaction in the offices he had held . The I . P . M . had spoken of what he could do ; but through some unavoidable circumstances they had been unable to see his working that evening . He hoped on

a future occasion they would be able to judge whether he was worthy of the reception given him . The W . M . next proposed '' The Installing Master , " and said he was proposed in the lodge , initiated , passed , and raised by Bro . Poupart , and now that brother had finished by installing him in the chair . When Bro . Poupart , P . M ., occupied the chair he was a delightful Master , but he had not been able to be with them lately as much as they wished .

Bro . W . Poupart , P . M ., said they would all have been delighted if Bro . Vallentine , F M ., had continued his long series of years as Installing Master . He ( Bro . Poupart ) had been asked to perform the ceremony , and had rendered it to the best of his ability . It was a delight to him to install his first initiate , and he knew Bro . Meyers would be a good Master . Bro . W . Dennis , S . W ., proposed "The Past Masters , " and said the members appreciated very highly the valuable services rendered to the Albion Lodge by the Past Masters . After an absence of some time they welcomed back Bro . Willey , P . M ., most heartily , and hoped he would be with them more often in the future .

Bro . W . Willey , P . M ., replied , and expressed his pleasure at being present . Everything had been done by the Past Masters in brotherly love and kindness , and they were glad so many had been spared in good health . They had seen the excellent working of Bro . Poupart , P . M ., who was an excellent and zealous Mason . In the future the Past Masters would do everything they could to promote the prosperity of the lodge , and contribute as far as they could to its good working .

Bro . Stratton Gerrish , I . P . M ., also replied , and thanked Bro . Harvey , P . M . and Sec , for his labours on behalf of the lodge , especially during the past year . Few knew how much devolved upon the Secretary , and how much the lodge was indebted to him in conjunction with Bro . Friend , P . M . and Treas . " The Visitors " and " The Masonic Charities , " and other toasts were given , before the proceedings terminated .

Special mention should be made of an excellent programme of music carried out under the direction of Bro . H . Schartau , P . P . G . Org ., assisted by Bro . Walter Churcher , Mr . Chas . Capper , and the Schartau Part Singers . The various items rendered by the latter quartette were distinguished by delicacy ,- expression , and taste , whilst the quaint humour of several selections was also appreciated and admired .

Lodge was opened , and the minutes confirmed , afterwhich Bro . Geo . R . Kennedy was duly installed as W . M ., the ceremony being very impressively rendered by Bro . Drysdale , 1 P . M . The following officers were invested : Bros . J . Sharpe , S . W . ; C A . Rhodes , J . W . ; Hy . Pritchard , P . P . G . Treas . Middx ., Sec ; Albert Leighton , S . D . ; R . M . Minton Senhouse , J . D . ; and S . H . Waterhouse , I . G . Bro . R . Clay

Sudlow , P . G . S . B ., who was unanimously re-elected Treasurer at the last meeting , having left town for the benefit of his health , his investiture was postponed . The I . P . M . was presented with a handsome Past Master ' s jewel in recognition of valuable services rendered as W . M ., and the gift was suitably acknowledged . A donation was made to the Kirby Memorial Fund , and the lodge was then closed .

The brethren adjourned to a choice repast , which fully sustained the reputation of this famous hostelry . The usual toasts were afterwards heartily given . Bro . Gordon Robbins , P . G . D ., replying for "The Grand Officers , " said that in his experience he had found Masonic orators were distinguished by three characteristics . They did not know how to begin , did not talk about the subject biforc them , and did not know when to leave off . The W . M . had shown he possessed none of those

qualifications , and had indeed left off too soon . The toast included the names of those who had done great service to Masonry like the Pro Grand Master and Deputy Grand Mister and many others whose names were familiar . There were also those who had rendered service to the State , including several members in the Cabinet of the present Government , generals like Lords Wolseley and Roberts and _ Admiral Markham , He was pleased to be present to witness the installation of an old friend , whose friendship dated back for many more years than he cared to remember . Bro . Kennedy possessed

all the qualifications for the Master's chair , and he ( Bro . Robbins ) would look back upon that evening with the greatest satisfaction . Bro . J . W . Drysdale , I . P . M ., proposed "The W . M ., " and said that after the enthusiastic manner in which the mention of that toast had been received , no eloquence would be necessary to secure a cordial reception for it . There was one point he would like to emphasise , which was to congratulate the W . M . on the fact that he was metaphorically , and in reality , a child of the lodge . He had a very pleasing reminiscence of the

day on which Bro . Kennedy was initiated , as he had to take an active part in the ceremony as the junior officer . Bro . Kennedy was initiated , passed , and raised in that lodge , but it did not often iall to the lot of a Mason to find himself in the exalted position of Master of his mo'her lodge . They all wished him health and strength to perform the duties of his important trust , and , in conclusion , he did not think he could do better than repeat a few words applied to the victorious knight— " Be faithful , be generous , be fortunate . "

Bro . G . R . Kennedy , W . M ., said he could hardly find words to express his grateful thanks to the I . P . M . for the very kind way in which he hid introduced his name to the lodge , and for the cordial reception given the toast . The I . P . M . had well said there could not be a prouder moment than to be installed in the chiir of a lodge in which he was initiated and passed through all the offices . In thithippy position , he ( the W . M . ) found himself , and he begged to thank the I . P . M . for the able and feeling manner in which he performed the ceremony of installation . He knew he should b ; a very inefficient Master , judging by the standard of his predecessors . Perhaps , in some lod

ges he might pass muster with some degree of credit , but in that lodge they had recently had Masters whose knowledge of the ritual was proverbial , and whose knowledge of Masonic detail it was impossible for him to emulite . He knew he should have the efficient and willing help of the I . P . M . and other Past Masters , and also of the general body of the lodge , in which he had spent many years of his life , aud in which he had never passed an unhappy hour . However great his sins of omission or commission mght be , he knew he should always receive the greatest kindness and consideration fr ° the brethren who knew he bad at heart the welfare and dignity of the lodge , which he should do his best to u rho'd .

In giving "The Past Masters , " the W . M . said that in the event of a p ' ethora of work he should claim their assistance , for the Past Masters were the reserve strength of the lodge . Bro . J . W . Drysdale , I . P . M ., in responding , said that occasion had been one of the greatest pleasures of his life , and he should look back with satisfaction at the privilege P en J , r , J , e ^ ' 'alling his successor—and a worthy successor . On the part of the it „ sters > n « could assure the W . M . their support would be always forthcoming , rey all regretted the absence of Bro . Sudlow , whose thoughts , he was sure , were with them . , & r ° - W . G . KcnlLh , P . P . G . D . Middx ., responding Ifor " The Visitors , " expressed the pleasure it affurde . l him to be present among so miny old friends . The programme 01 music had been of the bust quality , ani had been thoroughly enjoyed .

Bros . Lister , Barron , P . G . Stwd . ; Scratchley , P . P . G . Rig . ; and Morgan also replied . Bro . H . Pritchard , P . P . G . Treas . Middx ., Sec , replied for " The Treasurer and Secretary , " and regretted the Treasurer was not present to respond for himself . II : regretted Bro . Sudlow ' s ill-health had obliged him to go awiy , but hope ! thit at their next meeting he would enjoy the good heilth he had gone to seek . The Treisurer wis

exact and exacting , and the brethren need fear nothing wh'le he occupied the post . H : ( the Secretary ) had enjoyed the pleasure for eight years of serving the lodge as Secretary . It was not an easy position in any lodge , but in the B ink of En » l in I Lod » e it was easier than in most lodges . It was a pleasure to serve the W . M ., an ! the brethren were satisfied . He thanked them all for the su . oport given him , and also for their appreciition of his services .

" The Officers , " replied to by Bro . Sharpe , S . W ., concluded an interesting and enjovable evening . Bro . H . Schartau , P . P . G . Org ., directed the musical arrangements , which reflected the highest credit on all concerned . Bro . J . A . Hamilton presided over the instrument !! music during banquet . Bros . E . Branscombe and Wingrove Ives were in excellent voice in several songs ; Bro . R . Hopkins , the Royal Campanologist , once more evinced his skill with the silver bells , and gained the customary en-. ore , and Bro . Schartau supplied the humour in several capital items .

all the qualifications for the Master's chair , and he ( Bro .
