The Worshinful Master , in resoondinsr to the toast of his

health , eloquently put by Bro . Fowling , I . P . M ., said he hardly knew how to thank the brethren sufficiently for their kind and flattering reception of the toast . Bro . Fowling had referred to him as " one of the most prominent Masons in the East of London , " but he ( Bro . Curtis ) was very much afraid he should have to wait a long while before he achieved that distinction , but meant to try to be worthy of

it some day . With regard to the position he then held , he need hardly assure them that he looked upon it as the crowning of his Masonic life , and the day as one of the proudest in his existence . He was proud of the lodge , its grand name for good working and unbounded hospitality , and hoped to be spared long to witness its prosperity and brotherly love .

The next toast was that of "The Past Masters and Installing Officer , " and Bro . Fowling having responded for the latter , the other Past Masters severally returned thanks . The other toasts were "The Visitors , " "The Initiates , " "The Officers , " and the Tyler ' s toast , and then , after a

magnificent evening ' s enjoyment , the proceedings terminated . Bro . H . J . Roberts , 700 , presided at the piano , and some splendid singing by Bros . Barwick , Stamford , French , J . Plume , Delo , and others , was much enjoyed . The jewel was manufactured by Bro . George Kenning .
