FREEMASONRY IN RAWAL I'INhl . On Thursday , January 26 th , the Money Rose Croix Chapter , No . 7 6 , held its installation meeting , when 111 . Bro . Col . H . S . Brownrigg , 32 ' ' . was enthroned as M . W . S . for the ensuing year , and appointed the following as his officers : Bros . Capt . J . H . Leslie , R . A ., H . P .

and Recorder ; Major F . A . Bowles , R . A ., ist Gen . ; Capt . G . B . Preston , 2 nd Gen . ; H . J . Whymper , CLE ., 32 , Treas . ; C . E . Beresford , G . M . ; J . C . Hunter , Raphael ; R . Griffin , Herald ; and Capt . O . S . Nugent , Capt . of Guards . The prospects for the year are bright , as the chapter has at present 22 members .

On Friday , January 27 th , Bro . Whymper entertained most of the leading lights in Freemasonry , " their dames and daughters , " at a " reparte , " to meet and greet Bro . Col . C . F . Massy , the Dist . Grand Master designate of the Punjab . An emergency meeting of the Ardvorilich Mark Lodge , No . 219 ( E . C . ) . was held to advance Bro . C . F . Massy

to the Degree of M . M . This lodge now numbers 29 members , id of whom were present on this occasion . On the same day the Stewart Royal Arch Chapter , No , 19 ( 10 ( E . G . ) , held its regular January meeting . Two candidates were exalted to this Supreme Degree , 21 companions being present . This chapter is now very strong , numbering 42 .

On Saturday , January 28 th , thj annual installation meeting of Stewart Lodge . No . i 960 ( E . C ) , took place . A large number of brethren were present , including 10 Past Masters , most of whom wore the dark blue . Bro . Capt . J . H . Leslie , R . A ., who was initiated in this lodge and served in the offices of Secretary and S . W ., in 1891 and 1892 , was duly installed in the E . chair , the

ceremony being performed in the most impressive manner by Bro . F . A . Bowles , D . S . G . W . of the Punjab , and a P . M . of the lodge . The W . M . appointed and invested the following officers for the year : Bros . A . Murray Smith , S . W . ; J . VV . Litchfield , J . W . ; Major H . F . L . Montgomery , I . P . M ., Treas . ; James Brown , Sec ; Capt . O . S . Nugent , S . D . ; Capt . T . Longridge , J . D . ; Major F . A . Bowles , R . A ., P . M ., D . of C . ;

G . W . Dundas , Org . ; C . H . Blackburn , I . G . ; and Adarbad Sorabji Katrak , O . G . At the conclusion of the ceremony the brethren adjourned to the ball room at the club , where they were joined by several non-Masonic friends , and immediately proceeded to the business of the banquet . The usual Masonic toasts followed the banquet , and some excellent speeches were made .

The Craft Abroad.

Bro . MASSY responded for " The D . G . Officers of the Punjab , " and , in alluding to the Masonic Charities , said he thought that Freemasons in India—the majority of whom ended their days in England—did not do enough to support the English Charities , and that it seemed very hard that a Mason , who had subscribed liberally and for many years to the Punjab

Charity , should be refused help in his need in after years because he had severed connection with the Punjab . He hoped during his tenure of office as D . G . M . to be able to take some steps to put this matter on a more satisfactory basis . Sir WM . EI . I . ES , K . C . B ., responded for " The non-Masonic Guests , " and , in the course of an excellent

speech , said that this being the second year he had attended , the Stewards' Lodge banquet , he felt convinced that he had succeeded in discovering some of the cardinal points in Freemasonry . He observed that there was an E ., a W ., and a S ., but so far he had heard no reference to the N . He also felt sure that there was some secret virtue in dark blue , as compared

with the lig hter shade . Bro . J . R . B . BELI . proposed the toast of " The Officers of the Lodge" in most humorous terms , remarking that as the older members of a 1 dge approached the end of their Masonic and official career in India , and proceeded to the West , it was always a matter of congratulation to find young and zealous

Masons appearing on the Eastern horizon . He also gave some interesting information with reference to that mysterious point—the N . During the evening some excellent music was given by Bro . G . W . Dundas , the lodge Organist , and songs by Messrs . Smith , Hill , and Gooch . Freemasonry in Rawal Pindi is now in a most flourishing state .
