, The lodge was opened and the minutes confirmed , after which Bros . Herridge and Bain were passed to the Second Degree , and Mr . Arthur Cash was impressively initiated into Freemasonry . The ceremonies in both Degrees were worked by theW . M . in a very able and efficient manner . The Worshipful Master then said he had been called upon to perforin a very agreeable duty . The members would recollect that at their meeting in January it was resolved that the time had arrived when they ought to do something to recognise the many
services rendered by their worthy Bro . Fincham , P . M ., who for seven years had occupied the post of Secretary . A Committee was appointed to make the necessary arrangements , and he was glad to say the brethren responded very liberally . The Secretary was then consulted as to his wishes with respect to the form the testimonial should take , and Uro . Fincham at once said that , although he felt gratified at the appreciation of the brethren , yet he did not wish personally to receive any testimonial . It would , therefore , meet with unanimous approval to presant Bro . Fincham with an address of thanks , engrossed on vellum , which testified , as far as language could testify , to the many
obligations they were under to him , and the esteem in which they held him . They also desired to present Mrs . Fincham with something she could remember the occasion by in the shape of a diamond ring . These gifts but faintly expressed their sentiments , and they trusted Bro . Fincham would be spared for very many years to look upon the testimonial , and remember the regard in which he was held by the brethren of the Ebury Lodge . In presenting the diamond ring for Mrs . Fincham , they hoped she would wear it for many years with pleasure and pride , as a token of the good opinion entertained of her husband by the brethren . The VV .
