of Installed Masters was opened . Bro . James Laurence , the Installing Master , then installed Bro . Sharpies in the chair of K . Joseph Eatock was raised to the Sublime Degree , and lodge was closed with the customary solemnities . O . ving to the ill-health of the newly-installed Master the festivities were postponed .

VV ., and Bro . W . H . Smith Parsons was duly installed W . M . The brethren re-entered , and the remaining portion of the very impressive ceremony was carried out by Bro . Collings , P . M . The following were appointed officers for the ensuing year : Bros .

The usual votes of thanks were recorded , and the lodge closed in due form . The brethren then adjourned to the Town Hall and partook of a binquet , presided over by the W M ., and
admirably served by ' Bro . Butler , of Portsmouth . After ample justice had been done to the excellent viands , and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were drunk , The Worshipful Master proposed " The Health of the R . W . Proir . G ; V 1 ., Bro . W . W . B . Beach , M . P . ; the Dep . Prov . G . M ., Bro . J . E . Le Feuvre ; and Officers of Prov . Grand Lodge , Present and Past . " He referred to the Prov . Grand Master as being the right man in the right place ,
and they were very procd of him . The Deputy Prov . Grand Master well deserved the honour conferred upon him , for there was not a more hard-working man in the Craft . All the Prov . Officers strove to do their best , and succeeded . Bro . Rastrick , Prov . G . Treas ., thanked the W . M . and brethren for the reception , and said that having such good officers as the Prov . Grand Master and the Deputy Prov .
Grand Master stimula'ed all Prov . Officers to carry out their duties ; and if that was not sufficient , they had but to look back at the old Prov . Officers . Bro . H . Martin Green , P . P . G . J . W ., said that the honour conferred upon him two years ago by the Prov . Grand Master was not merited . Bro . Rastrick was well worthy of being the Prov . G . Treas . The Prov . Officers did their best , and they always received a hearty welcome , especially
at the Carnarvon Lodge . Bro . Collings , P . M ., proposed the toast of " The W . M ., " and said that it gave him great gratification in doing so . Last year he made the remark that he had great pleasure in appointing him S . W ., as he was one of his oldest and dearest schoolfellows and playmates . How much more gratification had he in installing him that day into the chair of K . S . ? In Bro . Parsons the brethren would find a good
W . M ., who was a true Mason to the heart . He felt sure that every brother at the end of the year would say Bro . I asnns had dune the working well ; acredtt to himself and the lod ^ e . Bio . II . W . Smith Parsons , W . M ., who was received w » h long and continued applause , said that no one felt "i 're pmud than he did . It would'not be wanting on his Part to render the ceremonies in an impressive manner ; as
far as his abilities went he would do his best . He tnanked all the brethren for I he assistance he had received . I he Worshipful Mister proposed the toast of "The ' ' -M . and Installing Master , Bro . Collings , who , he said , was a dear friend of hi * . He had done well the past i'ear , and cariied out theduties to the entiresatislaction of all .
Bio . Collings returned thanks , and said he had tried to op his best ; but it was not to his satisfaction . He only Wished he had done better than he had . 1 he Worshipful Master proposed " The Health of the visitors , " and Bros . Gieve , 300 , and R . Loveland Loveland , 6 98 » responded .

Arthur G . Leigh , and other brethren upon his election and for his zeal and assiduity in the interests of his lodge . Bro . Irving was re-elected Treasurer , and Bro . J . Jolly , Tyler . After some further and formal business , the lodge was closed in peace and harmony , and the brethren adjourned to supper .
REDCAR . —Marwood Lodge ( No . 1244 ) . —The annual festival of this lodge , and the installation of Bro . T . R . Dent as W . M . for the ensuing year , were held on Tuesday evening , the 7 th inst . The ceremony of installation was peiformed bv Bro . James Hogg , P . M ., P . P . G . A . D . C . of N . and E . Yorks . The other officers appointed

The banquet took place afterwards at the Coatham Hotel , after which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . Several brethren from Middlesborough , Stockton , and other places attended .
POULTON-LE-FYLDE . —Fidelity Lodge ( No . 1256 ) . —Avery interesting meeting took place at the Bull Hotel on Tuesday , the 30 th ult ., in connection with this lodge . Bro . W . V . Archer , W . M ., received from Bro . Whittaker , P . M ., an oil paintingof the senior Past Master , Bro . J . N . Davies , P . G . P . West Lane , with a request that he would cause the same to be entered in the inventory of
the lodge , so that it may be received by succeeding Masters , along with the rest of the lodge furniture . The portrait had been subscribed for by the brethren individually , as a mark of respect for the many services the lodge has received from the senior Past Master , who has been a subsciibing brother and an officer for nearly 20 years . There was a large attendance of visitors present , including the
Prov . G . Sec , Prov . G . Treas ., and other Prov . Officers , Present and Past , the Alaster and Wardens of the different lodges of the Fylde , and others . Alter the ordinary routine business , the ceremony of installation was proceeded with , when Bro . John Sumner , S . W ., was placed in the chair of K . S . by the I . P . M ., Bro . Winn , who also invested the following officers : Bros . VV .

Secretary , Bro . Riding , P . M ., to the Wardens by Bro . Whittaker , P . vl ., and to the brethren generally by Bro . Winn , the Installing Master . The ceremony of installation was perfoimed with great precision and feeling , and was fully appreciated by all the brethren present . Un the conclusion of the investiture , the brethren retired to the banqueting hall , which was profusely decorated with
festoons of evergreens and flowers by the host , Mr . Tattersall , Mrs . Tattersall , and daughters . The tables were neatly furnished , and from 50 to 60 brethren sat down to the dinner . This was served in good style , the host being complimented by the brethren at the conclusion of the business . Bro . Whittaker , P . M ., acted as Director of Ceremonies in the orthodox style . 'The usual loyal and
Masonic toasts were proposed by the M . M ., and duly honoured . The toast of " The Prov . Grand Lodge of West Lancashire" was responded to by Bro . Martin , the Prov . Grand Treasurer . The toast , " Success to the Masonic Charities , " was proposed by Bro . Goodacre , the Prov . Grand Secretary , and
eloquently responded to by the brethren present in front of the charity box . I he toasts of "The W . M . " "The I . P . M ., " and "The Officers , " were also proposed and responded to . Songs , recitations , & C-, were given at intervals , and a really pleasant , instructive , and convivial evening was spent
up to about nine o clock . The oil painting was executed by Bro . Gvegson , P . M ., of Talbot-road , Blackpool . It is a faithful portrait , and was universally admired . The Prov . G . clothing in which the subject is attired , although thought to be difficult to copy , is faithfully represented , and was favourably commented upon .
LIVERPOOL . —Toxteth Lodge ( No . 1356 ) . — The annual installation meeting of the members of this lodge , which enjoys a highly popular and prosperous position at the south end of the city , took place on Wednesday , the 8 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , North Hill-street . The chair at the open ng was taken by Bro . J . Ashley , W . M ., and he was officially supported by Bros . Edward George ,

commodious assembly room of which had been prepared and decorated for the banquet , which was served by Bro . H . Vallom , of the Lord Raglan Hotel , in splendid style ; the " real turtle " partaken of being made from a turtle especially sent from Antigua hy Bro . R . Thompson , Superintendent of Police , Seaward Islands and West Indies , a member of the lodge .

1 he usual loyal and Grand Lodge toasts having been enthusiastically honoured , that of " Lord Holme-dale , Prov . Grand Master Kent , " followed , and in giving it the W . M . said his lordship had for twenty-five years presided over them and many other distinguished Masons , and he knew he was expressing the prayer of their hearts when he hoped their Prov . G . Master might be spared for many a
long year yet to direct their councils and rejoice in their prosperity . The toast of "Bro . Eastes , P . D . G . M ., and the rest of the Provincial Grand Offieers , Present and Past , " was honoured . Bro . Chillingworth , in response , felt that it was unnecessary for him to say a word in that lodge with regard to the many excellences of Bro . Eastes . So far as he himself
was concerned , he felt proud of the position entrusted to him , and he would do his best to be worthy of it . He thanked them for the invitation that day , and congratulated the I . P . M . upon the admirable manner in which he had installed his successor . Bro . Spinks considered it a great honour to be a Prov . Grand Officer , especially in a province having 51 lodges
and 2 S 00 subscribing members , and to serve under such a Provincial Grand Master as Lord Holmesdale , who was , undoubtedly , the most popular Provincial Grand Master in the kingdc . m . Bro . Penfold was only a P . G . fledgling , and not like the two distinguished brethren who had preceded him , fully fledged Grand Officers . He was only a Steward , an office
that lasted only for a year , while Bros . Chillingworth and Spinks would be officers as long as they lived . He was , however , proud of being even a Stewaui under Lord Holmesdale , as it was the ambition of every brother to get office in such a Grand Lodge under such a Grand Master . When they took into consideration that there were only 13
collars to be distributed among marly 3000 members , they could easily conceive the immense difficulty of making a selection , and so he thankfully accepted the office offered him by their Grand Master . Bro . Spurrell also returned thanks , and highly eulogised the disciplined working of the lodge . Bro . Weston then proposed the toast of " The W . M . " They had unanimously elected Bro . Moulds to his present

Grand Master as being the right man in the right place ,
and they were very procd of him . The Deputy Prov . Grand Master well deserved the honour conferred upon him , for there was not a more hard-working man in the Craft . All the Prov . Officers strove to do their best , and succeeded . Bro . Rastrick , Prov . G . Treas ., thanked the W . M . and brethren for the reception , and said that having such good officers as the Prov . Grand Master and the Deputy Prov .
Grand Master stimula'ed all Prov . Officers to carry out their duties ; and if that was not sufficient , they had but to look back at the old Prov . Officers . Bro . H . Martin Green , P . P . G . J . W ., said that the honour conferred upon him two years ago by the Prov . Grand Master was not merited . Bro . Rastrick was well worthy of being the Prov . G . Treas . The Prov . Officers did their best , and they always received a hearty welcome , especially
at the Carnarvon Lodge . Bro . Collings , P . M ., proposed the toast of " The W . M ., " and said that it gave him great gratification in doing so . Last year he made the remark that he had great pleasure in appointing him S . W ., as he was one of his oldest and dearest schoolfellows and playmates . How much more gratification had he in installing him that day into the chair of K . S . ? In Bro . Parsons the brethren would find a good
W . M ., who was a true Mason to the heart . He felt sure that every brother at the end of the year would say Bro . I asnns had dune the working well ; acredtt to himself and the lod ^ e . Bio . II . W . Smith Parsons , W . M ., who was received w » h long and continued applause , said that no one felt "i 're pmud than he did . It would'not be wanting on his Part to render the ceremonies in an impressive manner ; as

West Lane , with a request that he would cause the same to be entered in the inventory of

Songs , recitations , & C-, were given at intervals , and a really pleasant , instructive , and convivial evening was spent
up to about nine o clock . The oil painting was executed by Bro . Gvegson , P . M ., of Talbot-road , Blackpool . It is a faithful portrait , and was universally admired . The Prov . G . clothing in which the subject is attired , although thought to be difficult to copy , is faithfully represented , and was favourably commented upon .

1 he usual loyal and Grand Lodge toasts having been enthusiastically honoured , that of " Lord Holme-dale , Prov . Grand Master Kent , " followed , and in giving it the W . M . said his lordship had for twenty-five years presided over them and many other distinguished Masons , and he knew he was expressing the prayer of their hearts when he hoped their Prov . G . Master might be spared for many a
long year yet to direct their councils and rejoice in their prosperity . The toast of "Bro . Eastes , P . D . G . M ., and the rest of the Provincial Grand Offieers , Present and Past , " was honoured . Bro . Chillingworth , in response , felt that it was unnecessary for him to say a word in that lodge with regard to the many excellences of Bro . Eastes . So far as he himself
was concerned , he felt proud of the position entrusted to him , and he would do his best to be worthy of it . He thanked them for the invitation that day , and congratulated the I . P . M . upon the admirable manner in which he had installed his successor . Bro . Spinks considered it a great honour to be a Prov . Grand Officer , especially in a province having 51 lodges
and 2 S 00 subscribing members , and to serve under such a Provincial Grand Master as Lord Holmesdale , who was , undoubtedly , the most popular Provincial Grand Master in the kingdc . m . Bro . Penfold was only a P . G . fledgling , and not like the two distinguished brethren who had preceded him , fully fledged Grand Officers . He was only a Steward , an office
that lasted only for a year , while Bros . Chillingworth and Spinks would be officers as long as they lived . He was , however , proud of being even a Stewaui under Lord Holmesdale , as it was the ambition of every brother to get office in such a Grand Lodge under such a Grand Master . When they took into consideration that there were only 13
collars to be distributed among marly 3000 members , they could easily conceive the immense difficulty of making a selection , and so he thankfully accepted the office offered him by their Grand Master . Bro . Spurrell also returned thanks , and highly eulogised the disciplined working of the lodge . Bro . Weston then proposed the toast of " The W . M . " They had unanimously elected Bro . Moulds to his present
