We again call attention to the Festival of the Mark Benevolent Fund , which will be held at Freemasons ' Tavern on Wednesday next , the 22 nd inst . The Board

of Stewards who will support the Chairmanship of Bro . Viscount Dungarvan , P . S . G . W ., will , in all probability , be about 150 strong , and we trust the result of the meeting will compare favourably with those of the more recent Festivals of this Fund .

* * * It was hardly to be expected that the offer of additional votes to donors and subscribers and Stewards at the Jubilee Festival next year of the * ' Royal Masonic Benevolent Institution would be allowed to pass without

protest , and , therefore , a letter of objection to the proposed offer which we have received from "P . M . No . 72 " does not surprise us . We trust , however , that he will permit us to point out that when a special object is sought to be gained , in order to commemorate a

special event , there is certain to be a special difficulty in the way of success , in consequence of the increased number of brethren who will be canvassing as Stewards , while the donors and subscribers , who are always willing to support the Institution , deserve some special

privilege when they evince an extra readiness to enrich the Charity . As for the offer being repeated again and again " on small pretext , " there is , we think , little fear

of this being done , when it is only with the sanction of Grand Lodge that the laws of the Institution can be altered or suspended even for so small a matter as the regulation of votes .

* * * The final meeting of the Board of Stewards at the recent Festival of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys was held at Freemasons' Hall , on Monday , at five p . m ., Bro . John Glass occupied the chair , and the

accounts having been submitted and approved , votes of thanks were passed to the honorary officers , and in particular , Bro . McLeod , the Hon . Secretary ; the Railway Companies , which had so nobly offered •the

Stewards such excellent facilities for travelling to and from Brighton ; and the Corporation of Brighton for having allowed them the exclusive right of the Pavilion gardens during the afternoon and evening . The Board was then dissolved .

* * * Bro . J . M . McLeod , Secretary of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , is to be congratulated on the latest of his new departures . On Friday , the ioth instant , he entertained the members of his staff at a quiet little

dinner at the Freemasons' Tavern , and took the opportunity of thanking them for the zeal and energy and ability with which they had performed their duties in connection with the recent Festival , and the sacrifices of time they had made in order to . get through the very
