After the loyal toasts and "The Health of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " had been proposed , Bro . Col .

Bindley responded as Grand Deacon . Bro . Hyslop proposed "The Health of the Provincial Grand Alaster , " expressing his belief that the Earl of Dartmouth would ere long become a most distinguished Mason . The toast was drunk with enthusiasm . Bro . Downs , thc Senior Warden , proposed in felicitous terms "The Deputy Prov . Grand Master , and the rest of Prov . Grand Officers , Present and Past , " a toast which was

warmly applauded . In responding to this toast , Bro . Col . Bingley acknowledged the unvarying kindness which he had received from Freemasons . He alluded to the circumstances under which he had had charge of the province after the death of his friend , Bro . Col . Gough . He appreciated the kindness which had always been extended towards him . Referring to the Masonic ceremony in connection with the orphanage

at Wolverhampton last year , he said every lodge in thc province was to be asked to subscribe to it . There were 31 lodges in the province , and they would be asked to contribute nine guineas each for two years . Some could afford more : perhaps some could only afford a less sum . But an appeal would also be made to the Royal Arch chanters , nine in number , in the province . Seven hundred guineas must be raised in two vears , and as there were in the

orphanage 70 children of Masons , he was sure the institution would be well supported by the Fraternity . Bro . Skerrett , in appropriate terms , respondod for thc other Prov . Grand Ofiicers . Bro . Greatbach proposed " The Masonic Charities , " observing that Freemasonry differed from other societies which were under an obligation to provide for members in sickness and death . But Freemasonry was under no such

contract . He alluded to the establishment of the Girls ' School 105 years ago , and of the Boys' School 10 years later , each of those schools maintaining and educating 260 children , besides which the aged Alasons' widows were not forgotten . He advocated the extension of local efforts in reference to Charitable objects , his observations being well received . Bro . Skerrett responded for the Masonic Charities , for

which hehad been Steward for two years . In 1 S 93 , the lodge sent £ l & ' 35 . to those Charities . In 1894 they werc not able to send up quite so much , the amouit being £ 32 95 . Last year the Charity-box yielded up vards of £ S , and at th ; present meeting it yielded £ 2 73 . He spoke in favour of establishing local Charities . He proposed the toast of "The Newly-Installed Worshipful Master , " which was drunk with great heartiness .

Bro . Edgeworth responded in an eloquent and telling speech , which was much appreciated by the brethren present . " The Health of the Retiring Worshipful Master " was also well received . Several other toasts were given and responded to , tho evening being very pleasantly spent . Bro . T . Edwards , Org ., had charge of the musical arrangements , and had secured theservicesof Mrs . Bird , of

Dudley , who sang so well that the brethren asked for an encore which was readily granted . Bro . J . Green Ainsworth sang " The Miser , " as appropriate after the toast of thc Charities . Other songs were given by Bros . VV . H . Newby and W . Tagg , and the musical arrangements , which reflected great credit on the Organist , included a Masonic song , composed and sung by Bro . Robert C . Downs , S . VV . Bro . D . II . Oxen gave a humorous recitation with his well-known ability .
