express-, ing their regret at being unable to attend . The W . M . having received the congratulations of the brethren , the lodge was closed in ancient form . The brethren subsequently sat clown to a banquet at the Cameron Arms Hotel , provided by Bro . Clare , which we need scarcely say was served in his usual high-class style . During the evening the following toast list was gone

through . The W . M . gave " The Queen and the Craft , ' and s ' aid there were none more loyal under Her Majesty ' s dominion at the present time than Welshmen , and more especially Welsh Freemasons . The W . M . then gave" The M . W . the Grand Master , H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , " and in doing so he alluded to the successful efforts of Bro . 1 . Tones Jenkins ( Mayor of Swansea ) , and Bro . Chas .

Bath , who he was pleased to have with him that evening , in inducing His Royal Highness to accept the invitation sent by the Town Council and Harbour Trust to open the East Dock in October next , and he was sure the Freemasons of the Principality would give the Grand Mastcra right hearty

welcome . The ot ' icr usual Masonic and complimentary toasts were gone through , and a very pleasant evening was spent . During the evening an excellent musical programme was furnished by Bros . J . \ V . White ( of Leeds ) , J . Peckover , Howell Walter Williams , J . J . Hewson , J . Lawrence Lewis , Ben Davies , and Fred . Watkins .

TEDDINGTON . —Sir Charles Bright Lodge ( No . 1793 ) . —The installation meeting of this prosperous lodge took place at the Masonic Rooms , on Saturday , the 26 th ult ., when there were in attendance , among others , Bros . Forge , W . M . ; Piller , S . W ., W . M . elect ; T . C . Walls , P . P . G . S . B . Middx ., J . W . ; ] . Hurst , P . G . P . Middx ., I . P . M ., and Treas . ; Goodchild , l . D . ; Miiller ,

Org . ; and J . W . Baldwin , P . P . G . P . Middx . ( honorary member ) . The visitors were Bros . Elsam P . P . G . D . C . Surrev , P . M . 201 , SS 9 ; H . Lovegrove , P . G . S . of Wks . and confirmed , Bros . Blancharel and Barns were raised , and Bros . Finch , Lawrence , Simmonds , and Lcrrey , were passed to the Degree of F . C . At this stage of the proceedings the R . W . P . G . M ., Bro . Col . Sir Francis Bmdett , was announced , and received with the usual honours . The installation ceremony was ably performed by W . Bro . Baldwin , assisted by W . Bros . Hurst , as S . W . ; Walls ,

as J . W . ; Elsam , as D . C ; and Lovegrove , I . G . The officers appointed , and invested , were Bros . Walls , S . W . ; Linton , J . W . ( by deputy ); Forge , I . P . M ., and Sec ; Beauchamp , Treas . ; Goodchild , S . D . ; Stevens , J . D . ( by deputy ); White , I . G . ; Miiller , Org . ; and Gilbert , Tyler ( by deputy ) . Previous tothelodge being closed , the W . M . presented the I . P . M . with a jewel , and a vote of

thanks was unanimously passed to W . Bro . Baldwin for his services as Installing Officer . The banquet was held at the Clarence Hotel , and upon the removal of the cloth , the customary toasts were duly honoured . In rising to respond upon behalf of " The Grand Officers , " Bro . Sir F . Burdett , after speaking upon the subject toast , said that it had afforded him a vast

amount of pleasure in being present that day . He was pleased to find that the Sir Charles Bright Lodge was making such steady progress . The lodge possessed many very good working Masons , and if . those members who were coming on wouhl only emulate their example the lodge would occupy a very prominent position in the province . In concluding his remarks he returned his thanks for the very

warm manner in , vhich his name had been mentioned in connection with the toast . W . Bros . Walls and Baldwin responded upon behalf of "The Prov . Grand Officers . " " The Health of the W . M . " was given in very flattering terms by the R . W . P . G . M . Bro . Piller , in reply , expressed his acknowledgments to Bro . Sir Francis Burdett for the honour he had conferred upon him in proposing his health ,

Although but a very young Mason , he , the W . M ., hoped that he should be able to carry out his manifold duties to the entire satisfaction of the lodge , and thereby merit the high encomiums which had been passed upon him by the Provincial Grand Master . "The Installing Officer " followed , and W . Bro . Baldwin having modestly replied , " The Health of the Visitors" followed . In giving this toast the W . M . particularly alluded to the services of W . Bro .

KIsam , who had rendered great assistance in the fudge that day . This toast having- been heartily received , Bros . Elsam , Hughes , Cousins , and others returned thanks . "The Past Masters" came next in order , and was responded to at length by Bros . Forge and Hurst . "The Health of the Officers , " and "The Masonic Charities " were coupled with the name of Bro . Walls , who duly responded .

BANGOR . —Royal Leek Lodge , ( No . 1849 ) . — The annual installation of the officers of this lodge took place on Friday , the 4 th inst ., at the Penrhyn Arms Hotel . Bro . The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , Bro . Kent informed the brethren that , owing to the unanimouswish of the lodge , no other labour would be proceeded with , and the brethren therefore adjourned to refreshment , at which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to , Bro . Kent presiding . In the course of the evening Bro . Kent

presented the Hon . Secretary ( Bro . Beavis ) with a gold watch , in recognition of his past services to the lodge , and also as the Secretary of their Masonic Benevolent Association . Bro . Beavis acknowledged the gift in feeling terms . During the evening the chair was ably supported by the following P . M . ' s and brethren , viz ., Bros . Harrington , Emler , Davis ,

Martin , Cox , -Wise , Moore , Lardent , Buiridge , Bird , Freyer , Brent , Clarke , Noaks , Parker , Mison , Fontain , Hollis , Green , Barnes , Froome , Dooman , Bear , Wells , Legge , Richards , Wallace , Eastbrooke , Powell , Woldsworth , Healy , Usherwood , Wilson , Baker , and many others whose name did not transpire , upwards of fifty in all .

PRINCE LEOPOLD LODGE ( No . 1445 ) . —At the usual weekly meeting held at the Mitford Tavern , Sandringham-road , Dalston , last Monday , Bro . J . Robson , in the chair as W . M ., supported by Bros . Goddard , Partridge , Myers , P . M ., Preceptor ; McDonald , Kimbcll , Loring , Seymour-Clarke , Sec , the second ceremony was

very ably worked by the W . M ., and the First , Second , and Third Sections were worked by Bro . McDonald , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Goddard was elected W . M . for Monday next , whan the Third Degree will be worked . A notice of motion was given relative to the expediency of removing this lodge to City quarters . All members arc earnestly invited to attend on Monday next .

LANGTON LODGE ( No . 1673 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held on Thursday , the 10 th inst ., at the Mansion House Station Restaurant , Oueen Victoria-street , E . C Present : Bros . Bue , W . M . ; William Frascr , S . W . ; Rosenthal , J . W . ; Joseph Langton , Treas . ; J . S . Fraser , S . D ., J . D . ; Barrett , I . G . ; E . W . Haines , Chichester , Bentley Haynes , Thorp , and others . Visitor , Bro .

Gayton . The lodge having been opened in the First Degree , the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The initiation ceremony was rehearsed , Bro . Bentley Haynes acting as the candidate . The W . M . gave the charge in a most impressive manner . The report of the Audit Committee was then taken , which proved the lodge

to be in a very satisfactory financial position . Bro . H . Clay Sudlow , of the Emulation Lodge of Improvement , was then unanimously elected Preceptor of the lodge . The W . M . presented two Deacons' wands to the lodge , and the thanks of the brethren were expressed . Bro . William Fraser was elected W . M . for the next meeting , and the lodge was closed .

WARRINGTON . —Elias Ashmole Chapter ( No . 14 S ) . —The annual convocation of this chapter was held on Monday , the 14 th inst ., for the purpose of installing the Principals elect for the ensuing year . Comp . John Bowes , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . N ., performed the duties of Installing Principal . Ex . Comps . James Jackson , W . H . Robinson , and J . Rymer Young were then presented in solemn conclaves befitting their rank , and duly installed , after

which the subordinate officers were invested and placed in their positions . A valuable present to the chapter from Comp . J . Paul Rylands , F . R . S ., S . E ., was accepteel with cordial thanks . The auditor ' s report was of a satisfactory character , and ordered to be printed and circulated among the members . Some other routine business having been transacted the chapter was closed , and the companions adjourned to light refreshment .

WIG AN . —Chapter of Harmony ( No . 17 S ) . — T ? ie annual convocation of this flourishing chapter was held in the chapter-room , on Wednesday , the 9 th inst ., at five o ' clock . The chapter having been opened by the Principals and P . Z . ' s , the rest of the companions were admitted and the minutes read and confirmed . The M . I ' -. / .., Comp . C . B . Holmes , said the only business before the chapter

was the installation of the chiefs for the ensuing year , and called upon H . Comp . John Bowes , P . '/ ., P . P . G . S N ., to perform the ceremonies . Comps . C B . Holmes ( reelected ) , J . Phillips , anel G . L . Campbell were then severally presented and installed according to ancient custom . The Royal Arch having been properly cemented theconclavewasclosed . and the remainder of the companions admitted , when the subordinate officers were invested and

placed in their respective positions by the Installing Principal . Theancient benediction havingbeen given , the chapter was closed in love and harmony , and the companions adjourned to the Victoria Hotel , where a sumptuous banquet awaited them , to which ample justice was done . The M . E . Z . was supported by the other Principals , several P . Z . 's , officers , and a large number of members , and a most enjoyable evening was spent under his genial presidency .

HARTLEPOOL . — St . Helen Chapter of Strict Benevolence ( No . 531 ) . —The annual convocation of this chapter took place in the Masonic Hall , Regent-square , on l'riday , the nth inst . Thcchapter was consecrated in January , 1 S 79 . Bro . Matthew Harrison was exalted to the Sublime Degree of a Royal Arch Mason by Most Excellent Comp . R . Hudson , who proceeded to instal

NORWICH . —Perseverance Chapter ( No . 213 . )—The quarterly convocation and installation of this chapter was held at the Masonic Club , 23 , St . Giles-street , on Friday , the 4 th inst . The chapter having been opened in

solemn and ancient form , the ceremony of installation commenced and was admirably performed by the retiring M . E . Z ., Ex . Comp . C . H . Capon , P . G . N ., and P . Z . Ex . Comp . James Dunsford , the former installing the 1 st and 3 rd Principals and the latter the 2 nd Principal . The chapter is now formed as follows : Comps . Joseph Stanley , M . E . Z . ; G . banquetingroom , where a most sumptuous banquet had been prepared , and upon the removal of the cloth the usual loyal toasts were proposed and duly acknowledged . We congratulate the Principals on their preferment and exaltation . There are not in the whole province of Norfolk three more worthy and ardent Royal Arch Masons than Comps . J .

Stanley , G . Baxter , and J . E . H . Watson , and we trust they may have a successful year of office . Comp . C . H . Capon , the I . P . Z ., should also be congratulated on his year of office upon retiring from his position of First Principal of this chapter . During the evening several songs and glees were given , and the companions separated having spent a very pleasant evening .

INSTRUCTION . METROPOLITAN CHAPTER OF IMPROVEMENT . —( No . 975 ) . —A meeting of this eminent chapter of improvement was held last Tuesday eveningat the Jamaica Tavern , St . Michacl ' s-alley , Cornhill , anel was numerously attended by Royal Arch Masons , the night being specially appointed for the installation of the

Three Principals , a ceremony that is seldom performed in any chapter of instruction . The chapter having been duly opened , the chairs were filled by the following companions : Comps . W . Stephens , Z . ; Turquand , H . ; and H . Thompson , J . Comp . Massa having been presented as the First Principal elect , he was most impressively and correctly installed into the chair of Z . by Comp . Stephens , and seldom

has that important ceremony been so ably performed . The next business was to instal Comp . Storrintothechairof H ., which was gone through in an equally satisfactory manner , and the same remark will apply to the installation of Comp . Brown , the worthy Preceptor of the chapter , into the third chair . At the conclusion of these ceremonies , Comp . Massa moved that a vote of thanks should be recorded on the

minutes of the chapterto Comp . Stephens for the very able , correct , and impressive manner in which he had performed the ceremony of installation of the Principals that evening , and for his readiness at all times to render any assistance to the chapter . Comp . Storr seconded the motion , which was supported by Comp . H . Thompson , M . E . Z . 619 , and carried unanimously . Comp . Stephens , in reply , thanked

the companions for their kindly recognition of his humble services , and assured them that at any time when he could be useful to the chapter his services were at their disposal . The chapter of Installed Principals was then closed , and the rest of the companions were admitted . Amongst the installed Principals , in addition to those filling the three chairs , were Comps . Mickley , Pounceby , N . Green , and

Myer . I he ceremony of installation was then rehearsed , Comps . Pounceby , / . ; Lardncr , II . ; Dotteridge , J . ; W . Eraser , N . ; J . Payne , P . S . ; and Goodenough , candidate . The following companions were also present : Comps . Lardner , King , W . Fraser , J . Payne , Edwards , and Lovegrove . The ceremony was most ably performed by Comp . Pounceby , and at the close a cordial vote of thanks was voted to him for the very efficient manner in which lie had

worked the business of the past First Principal ' s chair for the first time . Comp . Pounceby replied , and thanked Comp . Brown for the attention and great assistance he had given him in mastering the duties of the three chairs . The following were then elected members of the chapter : Comps . Goodenough , 303 ; Mickley , 94 S ; and Turquand , 1339 and S 90 . The chapter was then closed , and adjourned until Tuesday , March 22 , at half-past six o ' clock .

Previous tothelodge being closed , the W . M . presented the I . P . M . with a jewel , and a vote of

thanks was unanimously passed to W . Bro . Baldwin for his services as Installing Officer . The banquet was held at the Clarence Hotel , and upon the removal of the cloth , the customary toasts were duly honoured . In rising to respond upon behalf of " The Grand Officers , " Bro . Sir F . Burdett , after speaking upon the subject toast , said that it had afforded him a vast

amount of pleasure in being present that day . He was pleased to find that the Sir Charles Bright Lodge was making such steady progress . The lodge possessed many very good working Masons , and if . those members who were coming on wouhl only emulate their example the lodge would occupy a very prominent position in the province . In concluding his remarks he returned his thanks for the very

warm manner in , vhich his name had been mentioned in connection with the toast . W . Bros . Walls and Baldwin responded upon behalf of "The Prov . Grand Officers . " " The Health of the W . M . " was given in very flattering terms by the R . W . P . G . M . Bro . Piller , in reply , expressed his acknowledgments to Bro . Sir Francis Burdett for the honour he had conferred upon him in proposing his health ,

Although but a very young Mason , he , the W . M ., hoped that he should be able to carry out his manifold duties to the entire satisfaction of the lodge , and thereby merit the high encomiums which had been passed upon him by the Provincial Grand Master . "The Installing Officer " followed , and W . Bro . Baldwin having modestly replied , " The Health of the Visitors" followed . In giving this toast the W . M . particularly alluded to the services of W . Bro .

KIsam , who had rendered great assistance in the fudge that day . This toast having- been heartily received , Bros . Elsam , Hughes , Cousins , and others returned thanks . "The Past Masters" came next in order , and was responded to at length by Bros . Forge and Hurst . "The Health of the Officers , " and "The Masonic Charities " were coupled with the name of Bro . Walls , who duly responded .

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.

The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed , Bro . Kent informed the brethren that , owing to the unanimouswish of the lodge , no other labour would be proceeded with , and the brethren therefore adjourned to refreshment , at which the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were given and responded to , Bro . Kent presiding . In the course of the evening Bro . Kent

presented the Hon . Secretary ( Bro . Beavis ) with a gold watch , in recognition of his past services to the lodge , and also as the Secretary of their Masonic Benevolent Association . Bro . PRINCE LEOPOLD LODGE ( No . 1445 ) . —At the usual weekly meeting held at the Mitford Tavern , Sandringham-road , Dalston , last Monday , Bro . J . Robson , in the chair as W . M ., supported by Bros . Goddard , Partridge , Myers , P . M ., Preceptor ; McDonald , Kimbcll , Loring , Seymour-Clarke , Sec , the second ceremony was

very ably worked by the W . M ., and the First , Second , and Third Sections were worked by Bro . McDonald , assisted by the brethren . Bro . Goddard was elected W . M . for Monday next , whan the Third Degree will be worked . A notice of motion was given relative to the expediency of removing this lodge to City quarters . All members arc earnestly invited to attend on Monday next .

Gayton . The lodge having been opened in the First Degree , the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The initiation ceremony was rehearsed , Bro . Bentley Haynes acting as the candidate . The W . M . gave the charge in a most impressive manner . The report of the Audit Committee was then taken , which proved the lodge

to be in a very satisfactory financial position . Bro . H . Clay Sudlow , of the Emulation Lodge of Improvement , was then unanimously elected Preceptor of the lodge . The W . M . presented two Deacons' wands to the lodge , and the thanks of the brethren were expressed . Bro . William Fraser was elected W . M . for the next meeting , and the lodge was closed .

WARRINGTON . —Elias Ashmole Chapter ( No . 14 S ) . —The annual convocation of this chapter was held on Monday , the 14 th inst ., for the purpose of installing the Principals elect for the ensuing year . Comp . John Bowes , P . Z ., P . P . G . S . N ., performed the duties of Installing Principal . Ex . Comps . James Jackson , W . H . Robinson , and J . Rymer Young were then presented in solemn conclaves befitting their rank , and duly installed , after

which the subordinate officers were invested and placed in their positions . A valuable present to the chapter from Comp . J . Paul Rylands , F . R . S ., S . E ., was accepteel with cordial thanks . The auditor ' s report was of a satisfactory character , and ordered to be printed and circulated among the members . Some other routine business having been transacted the chapter was closed , and the companions adjourned to light refreshment .

WIG AN . —Chapter of Harmony ( No . 17 S ) . — T ? ie annual convocation of this flourishing chapter was held in the chapter-room , on Wednesday , the 9 th inst ., at five o ' clock . The chapter having been opened by the Principals and P . Z . ' s , the rest of the companions were admitted and the minutes read and confirmed . The M . I ' -. / .., Comp . C . B . Holmes , said the only business before the chapter

was the installation of the chiefs for the ensuing year , and called upon H . Comp . John Bowes , P . '/ ., P . P . G . S N ., to perform the ceremonies . Comps . C B . Holmes ( reelected ) , J . Phillips , anel G . L . Campbell were then severally presented and installed according to ancient custom . The Royal Arch having been properly cemented theconclavewasclosed . and the remainder of the companions admitted , when the subordinate officers were invested and

placed in their respective positions by the Installing Principal . Theancient benediction havingbeen given , the chapter was closed in love and harmony , and the companions adjourned to the Victoria Hotel , where a sumptuous banquet awaited them , to which ample justice was done . The M . E . Z . was supported by the other Principals , several P . Z . 's , officers , and a large number of members , and a most enjoyable evening was spent under his genial presidency .

We congratulate the Principals on their preferment and exaltation . There are not in the whole province of Norfolk three more worthy and ardent Royal Arch Masons than Comps . J .

Stanley , G . Baxter , and J . E . H . Watson , and we trust they may have a successful year of office . Comp . C . H . Capon , the I . P . Z ., should also be congratulated on his year of office upon retiring from his position of First Principal of this chapter . During the evening several songs and glees were given , and the companions separated having spent a very pleasant evening .

INSTRUCTION . METROPOLITAN CHAPTER OF IMPROVEMENT . —( No . 975 ) . —A meeting of this eminent chapter of improvement was held last Tuesday eveningat the Jamaica Tavern , St . Michacl ' s-alley , Cornhill , anel was numerously attended by Royal Arch Masons , the night being specially appointed for the installation of the

Three Principals , a ceremony that is seldom performed in any chapter of instruction . The chapter having been duly opened , the chairs were filled by the following companions : Comps . W . Stephens , Z . ; Turquand , H . ; and H . Thompson , J . Comp . Massa having been presented as the First Principal elect , he was most impressively and correctly installed into the chair of Z . by Comp . Stephens , and seldom

has that important ceremony been so ably performed . The next business was to instal Comp . Storrintothechairof H ., which was gone through in an equally satisfactory manner , and the same remark will apply to the installation of Comp . Brown , the worthy Preceptor of the chapter , into the third chair . At the conclusion of these ceremonies , Comp . Massa moved that a vote of thanks should be recorded on the

minutes of the chapterto Comp . Stephens for the very able , correct , and impressive manner in which he had performed the ceremony of installation of the Principals that evening , and for his readiness at all times to render any assistance to the chapter . Comp . Storr seconded the motion , which was supported by Comp . H . Thompson , M . E . Z . 619 , and carried unanimously . Comp . Stephens , in reply , thanked

the companions for their kindly recognition of his humble services , and assured them that at any time when he could be useful to the chapter his services were at their disposal . The chapter of Installed Principals was then closed , and the rest of the companions were admitted . Amongst the installed Principals , in addition to those filling the three chairs , were Comps . Mickley , Pounceby , N . Green , and

Myer . I he ceremony of installation was then rehearsed , Comps . Pounceby , / . ; Lardncr , II . ; Dotteridge , J . ; W . Eraser , N . ; J . Payne , P . S . ; and Goodenough , candidate . Pounceby , and at the close a cordial vote of thanks was voted to him for the very efficient manner in which lie had

worked the business of the past First Principal ' s chair for the first time . Comp . Pounceby replied , and thanked Comp . Brown for the attention and great assistance he had given him in mastering the duties of the three chairs . The following were then elected members of the chapter : Comps . Goodenough , 303 ; Mickley , 94 S ; and Turquand , 1339 and S 90 . The chapter was then closed , and adjourned until Tuesday , March 22 , at half-past six o ' clock .
