which elicited loud and enthusiastic applause from the brethren present . Bro . Major Dunbar proposed , and Bro Birkin seconded , that a cordial vote of thanks be given to Bro . VV . J . Meek for the great Masonic treat given to the brethren by his lecture , and also a deep regret that the lodge was about to lose Bro . Meek , who is about to go to New Zealand , and that both these expressions of thanks

and regret be inserted in the minutes of the lodge . This was carried with acclamation . Bro . Meek replied in a very feeling and touching speech , and vvas visibly affected at parting from the lodge . There being no further business the lodge vvas closed in due form , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet , where they partook of Bro . Oddy's usual generous fare .

The usual loyal and Masonic toasts having been given , Bro . A . G . Fidler , the W . M ., proposed in a very forcible and touching speech " The Health of our dear Bro . Meek , the father of the lodge , " which was most enthusiastically received by the brethren . Bro . Meek replied , wishing the Iodge every prosperity ,

and trusted , if he did not meet any ' of the biethren again on earth , he might meet them all in the Grand Lodge above . The Tyler's toast closed a vcry enjoyable evening . It is the intention of the brethren of 2 S 4 to present Bro . Meek , before his departure , vvith a memento of their affection , esteem , and respect for him as a man and as a brother Mason .

PROVINCIAL GRAND LODGE AND CHAPTER OF YORKSHIRE . A meeting of this branch of the Order was held vn Freemasons' Hall , St . Saviourgate , York , on Thursday , the 3 rd inst . R . VV . Bro . the Rev . Rev . Wm . Valentine , Prov . G . M ., presided , supported by Bros . T . B . Whytehead ,

D . P . G . M . ; W . H . Cowper , P . S . G . W . ; Capt . Grant , P . J . G . W . ; Wm . Brown , Prov . G . Sec ; W . H . B . Atkinson , Std . Br . j W . B . Dyson , Grand Marshal ; and others . Bros . J . M . Meek and Col . Monks having been accepted , vvere admitted and advanced to the Degrees of

the Order . The Prov . Grand Master presented a set of daggers and trowels , and received a vote of thanks for his gift . The brethren afterwards dined together in the Supper Room , and enjoyed an excellent repast and a pleasant evening of Masonic converse .

SHANKLIN EXHIBITION MEDAL .

The following circular has been issued by Bro . Greenham , W . M . of the Chine Lodge , Shanklin : — " 3 , Alexandra-terrace , Shanklin , "March 14 th , 1 SS 7 . " Dear Sir and Brother , " I am about to have the last of the Shanklin Masonic Exhibition Medals struck . Should you wish to

possess one , will you kindly give me the order at once . " Whilst the Medal has commemorated the largest and most valuable Masonic Exhibition yet held , intrinsically it possesses much merit , as a few of the many opinions received and here recorded will prove . "Bro . VV . J . Hughan , writing , says : 'There is no finer Medal in England . '

" Bro . J ames Newton , of Bolton , says -. ' I quite concur in Bro . Hughan's remark , that , there is no finer Masonic Medal in England . 1 shall prize it very much indeed ; it is a credit to all concerned in its design and production . ' " Bro . the Count de Geneys says -. ' The Medal is a perfect gem , and the finest bit of engraving I have seen for a long time . '

" Bro . John H . Goddard Rathmines , Dublin , says , October 26 th , 18 S 6 : ' I am much pleased vvith , the Medal . I have shown it to a number of " experts" here ; they all pronounce ita very fine and well cut one—to-day one of our most experienced medallists has examined it with a powerful glass and was much pleased . ' "There can be no doubt that in a few years this Medal will be very valuable , and those vvho took part , either as an

exhibitor or visiting the Exhibition , will doubtless wish to possess one as a souvenir of an event vvhich attracted so much attention in Masonic circles . "The prices of theMedalsare—postfree—silver , 15 s . 2 d . ; bronze , 5 s . Sd . ; white metal , 4 s . 2 d . " I have also a few catalogues left , 2 s . gd . each , post free . Lodges desirous of forming a library should not miss the opportunity of obtaining one . " Waiting the favour of your reply ,

Meek for the great Masonic treat given to the brethren by his lecture , and also a deep regret that the lodge was about to lose Bro . Meek , who is about to go to New Zealand , and that both these expressions of thanks

and regret be inserted in the minutes of the lodge . This was carried with acclamation . Bro . Meek replied in a very feeling and touching speech , and vvas visibly affected at parting from the lodge . There being no further business the lodge vvas closed in due form , and the brethren adjourned to the banquet , where they partook of Bro . Oddy's usual generous fare .

The usual loyal and Masonic toasts having been given , Bro . A . G . Fidler , the W . M ., proposed in a very forcible and touching speech " The Health of our dear Bro . Meek , the father of the lodge , " which was most enthusiastically received by the brethren . Bro . Meek replied , wishing the Iodge every prosperity ,

and trusted , if he did not meet any ' of the biethren again on earth , he might meet them all in the Grand Lodge above . The Tyler's toast closed a vcry enjoyable evening . The following circular has been issued by Bro . Greenham , W . M . of the Chine Lodge , Shanklin : — " 3 , Alexandra-terrace , Shanklin , "March 14 th , 1 SS 7 . " Dear Sir and Brother , " I am about to have the last of the Shanklin Masonic Exhibition Medals struck . Should you wish to

possess one , will you kindly give me the order at once . " Whilst the Medal has commemorated the largest and most valuable Masonic Exhibition yet held , intrinsically it possesses much merit , as a few of the many opinions received and here recorded will prove . "Bro . VV . J . Hughan , writing , says : 'There is no finer Medal in England . '

" Bro . J ames Newton , of Bolton , says -. ' I quite concur in Bro . Hughan's remark , that , there is no finer Masonic Medal in England . 1 shall prize it very much indeed ; it is a credit to all concerned in its design and production . ' " Bro . the Count de Geneys says -. ' The Medal is a perfect gem , and the finest bit of engraving I have seen for a long time . '

" Bro . John H . Goddard Rathmines , Dublin , says , October 26 th , 18 S 6 : ' I am much pleased vvith , the Medal . I have shown it to a number of " experts" here ; they all pronounce ita very fine and well cut one—to-day one of our most experienced medallists has examined it with a powerful glass and was much pleased . ' "There can be no doubt that in a few years this Medal will be very valuable , and those vvho took part , either as an

exhibitor or visiting the Exhibition , will doubtless wish to possess one as a souvenir of an event vvhich attracted so much attention in Masonic circles . "The prices of theMedalsare—postfree—silver , 15 s . 2 d . ; bronze , 5 s . Sd . ; white metal , 4 s . 2 d . " I have also a few catalogues left , 2 s . gd . each , post free .
