One was that it was an honour for any man to rank himself amongst them ; the other that they ought therefore to be very careful whom they admitted to fellowship with them . Another thing was that the progress and
success of Freemasonry depended upon the unity of the Craft and the vitality they infused into the great principles upon which it was based . The VV . M ., in giving " The Health of the Prov . Grand Master of Surrey , General Brownrigg , " expressed the deep regret they all felt at the General ' s illness , which would ive zesthe said , to the heartiness with which they

It was established on a good foundation , and a hig h standard of discipline was required by its chief founder and first Master , Bro . Hugh Sandeman . Young

He trusted the tradition would be maintained , and that in the province generally anxious care would be exercised in the choice of initiates .
The VV . M . then , in happy terms , gave *• The Health of the I . P . M ., " who had , by his strict attention to his duties , done honour to the lodge . He then handed Bro . Eady the customary silver tankard , adding—may he live many long years to diink out of it at the annual banquet . He was reminded of some familiar lines , which , with a slight
alteration , he might apply to Bro . Eady—Fold thy hands together , Lay them on thy breast ; Thou hast done thy Craft-work , Enter into rest ! Bro . Eady responded in a very feeling speech . He said
he should prove the exception to the rule " out of the fulness of the heart the mouth speaketb , " for his heart was so full that his tongue refused to speak . He felt overwhelmed with gratitudefor the handsome token of their kindness which they had just given him , and which he felt he did not deserve . He could only say he was a poor
Mason who had tried to do his duty , and he could only attribute their compliments to the reflected light of those who had preceded him in the chair . One thing he could say—namel y , that he had never attended a lodge without having something to do , and that something he had always done himself . In conclusion , Bro . Eady proposed " The Health of the W . M ., " for whom he predicted a happy and
a successful year , and with such a Master of sweet sounds in the chair , there could not fail to be harmony in the lodge , The VV . M ., in response , said he should endeavour to iolioiv in ( he footsteps of the three excellent Masters who had preceded him in the chair . That is not to be wondered at in a lodge which was officered throughout by Past Masters all skilled in the Craft , and the lodge has a brilliant future as to working . After the transaction of some incidental business the brethren partook of refreshment , which Bro . Mayo ' s chef sent up in the best style . The customary toasts were all gone through . When "on his legs" for " The Prov . Grand Officers , "
Bro . Lane , P . P . G . S . B ., urged the necessity of organisation in the Province of Surrey for the Chaiitable Institutions , and mentioned that at the last election of boys the Province of Berks polled 1500 votes for the candidate adopted ; while Surrey could only put in 19 for the case to which the support of the province was announced to be given . Bro . Foster , speaking for" The Visitors , " congratulated the W . M . on the efficient officers he had to assist him .

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.
