After five brethren had been chosen to serve on the General Purposes Committee , the PROV . GRAND MASTER announced that the next meeting of Prov . Grand Lodge would be held at Sheffield , in reply to an invitation given by Bro . M . J . Dodworth on behalf of the Britannia Lodge , of which he was W . M .

Bro . C . LETCH MASON also informed the brethren that he had just returned from paying a brief visit to Bro . Tudor Trevor , their late Prov . Grand Secretary . He found him , he said , in a very weak and unsatisfactory condition of health . He thought they ought not to part without some expression of feeling in respect to Bro . Trevor . He therefore proposed : " That this Prov . Grand Lodgeof West Yorkshire desires to convey to YY / . Bro . Tudor Trevor , its late Secretary , deep sympathy with him in his severe and prolonged illness , and trusts that it may please the G . O . of the U . to speedily restore him to health and happiness . "

This was suitably seconded by Bro . GEO . H . PARKE , and carried unanimously . After a hearty vote of thanks to Bro . Morris , W . M ,, and the brethren of Fearnley Lodge , No . 5 8 , for their excellent arrangements , which , on the motion of the DEPUTY PROV . G . M ., seconded by Bro . CHAS . WOOLLONS , P . J . G . YY ' ., was carried with acclamation , Prov . Grand Lodge was closed .

A tea a la fottrchette was provided , of which upwards of 50 brethren partook . Bro . Morris , YY ' . M . 57 , presided , and was supported by the Prov . G . M . and his Deputy . Loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed , heartily received , and responded to . Some capital songs and recitations were given , and the evening was passed in a most pleasing and satisfactory manner .

CONVENT GENERAL . The usual Ouarterly Convent General , and National Great Priory were held at Mark Masons' Hall on Friday the nth inst . The Y \ E . National Sub-Prior of England and YY'ales , the Right Hon . the Earl of Euston , G . C . T ., acting , in the unavoidable absence of the V . H . E . Great Prior of England and YY'ales , for the M . E . Supreme Grand Master , opened the Convent General .

The ASST . ARCH REGISTRAR having called the muster roll , the M . E . Supreme Grand Master ' s assent to the alterations and additions lo the statutes of Convent General carried on the 9 th May , 1890 , was read . The V . E . National Sub-Prior of England and YVales read a letter from

the V . H . and E . Great Prior , the Earl of Lathom , expressing his regret at being unable to attend . He said that he was sure he was only expressing the feeling of all present when he said that , deeply as they regretted the absence of Lord Lathom , they still more deeply regretted the cause which rendered it impossible for him to be present to preside over them on that

. The V . E . National Sub-Prior of Kngland and YVales , the Earl of EUSTON , moved— ¦ ' That in the opinion tf this Convent General , the time has now arrived when it is expedient to take into consideration the present relations existing between the National Great Priories and Convent General ;

and with this view it is resolved that a Commission consisting of seven Members from each Great Priory be appointed by their respective Great Priories with full powers to enquire into the matters in question , and report with recommendations to the next regular Meeting of Convent General , or to a Special Meeting of thu body convened for that purpose . "

The motion was seconded , and supported by the V . E . Prov . Priors for East Anglia and Lancashire , Sir Knights Captain PHILIPS and Captain BESWICKE ROYDS . Sir Knight CI ' MUERLAND read a telegram from a member of the Order at York , suggesting lhat the ritual should be considered by the Committee . Sir Knight RICHARD EVE asked for information as to the scope ' of the proposed enquiry .

lt was staled , in reply , that the object of the enquiry was to consider the relations existing at present between the National Great Priory and Convent General , and to suggest any modifications which might appear to be for the good of the Order , but that it was not proposed to consider the question of ritual .

Sir Knight Colonel MCCAMMON , as senior member of the Great Priory of Ireland then present , expressed approval of the motion . The motion was then put and carried . Sir Knight Ralph Glutton , K C . T ., Treasurer of the Great Priory of Englan J and Wales , was , on ihe motion of Sir Knight F . RICHARDSON , K . C . T ., seconded by Sir Knight | . S . CUM HEKLAXD , elected Arch Treasurer .

E . and Supreme Grand Master had been pleased to appoint him Seneschal of the Order , and that H . R . H . had been further pleased to appoint Sir Knights the Right Hon . H . E . Chatterton , Arch Chancellor of the Order ; the Right Hon . the Viscount Dungarvan , G . C . T ., Great Marshal of the Order ; R . Loveland Loveland ,

Provincial Priors for Hampshire , East Anglia , Lancashire , Devonshire , Kent and Surrey , the Great Officers and Officers , and manv Past Great Officers , Ofiicers , Preceptors , and other Knights . Y'isitors : Sir Knight YV . E . Scott G . C . T . ; Col . R . A . J . Cosby , G . C . T . ; YY ' akefield H . Dixon , K . C . T ., of the National Great Priory of Ireland ; Col . Thos . A . McCammon , K . C . T . ; and Robert YY'alker , K . C . T .

The National Great Priory having been opened and the muster roll called , the minutes of the National Great Priory of the Sth December , 1893 , were read , and declared to be correctly recorded . The Sub-Marshal then announced that the V . E . Sir Knight the Rev . Canon Htnry Baker Trislram , D . D ., was in attendance for the purpose of

doing homage on his appointment as Provincial Prior for Northumberland , Berwick and Durham . He was admitted , and having been conducted to the foot of the throne , did homage as Provincial Prior . He was then conducted to his stall , proclaimed , and saluted according to ancient custom . The report of the Council was taken as read .

As a result of a long correspondence between the Sovereign Great Priory of Canada and the Great Priory of England and YVales , Sec , the following resolution was proposed and carried : " That whilst reasserting the position taken up with regard to jurisdiction , this Great Priory having ascertained that the preceptories , constituted by warrants from the Great Priory of Canada , are no longer under the jurisdiction of that body , ard having received emphatic and satisfactory assurances from the Grand Master of the

Order in Canada on the question of jurisdiction , do now rescind the resolution passed by Great Priory on the 9 th December , 1887 , and resume friendl y relations with the Great Priory of Canada . " Motions arising out of the report were made and carried . Sir Knight Ralph Clutton was re-elected Treasurer . The New Grand Chapter Officers.

THE NEW GRAND CHAPTER OFFICERS .

FIRST ASSISTANT GRAND DIRECTOR OF CEREMONIES . Lieut .-Colonel BENTHAM , whose appointment to office in Grand Chapter we announced a fortnight ago , is a Mason of some 25 years' standing , having been initiated on the 14 th day of June , 1869 , and raised in September of the same year in St . Peters' Lodge , No . 4 81 , Newcastle-on-Tyne . In that lodge he worked up to the position of J . W ., when he became one of the founders of the Percy Lodge . No . 1427 , which was consecrated on the 5 th June , 1873 , when he was appointed the first S . W . In the natural course of events he became W . M . the next year and

at the end of this term was unanimously elected to fill the chair for another year , and has done yeoman service to the lodge . When it was found necessary to form another lodge he became a founder , and was selected as S . W . of the new locl ^ named Hotspur Lodge , No . 1626 , which was consecrated on June 13 th , 18 7 , and when , some years later , the Ridley Lodge , No . 2260 , was formed , he aeain became a founder and was again called upon to be the first S . W ., and the next year wis unanimously elected to the chair . In the Craft , he has held three offices in

Provincial Grand Lodge . He was exalted in St . Peters Chapter , No . 4 81 , on the 17 ;" May , 1871 , in which he rose to be First Principal . He has held several offices in Arch Masonryin the province of Northumberland . On the 16 th December , 18 S 1 , he was appointed Prov . G . S . E ., in which capacity he has acted ever since , with the exception of one year , viz ., 188 3 , when he was appointed Prov . G . H ., but even during this year he attended to the duties of Prov . G . S . E . as well as those of higher rank . He has been most unremitting and energetic in promoting the

interests of Royal Arch Masonry , a degree with which he has been so long and so honourably connected being still in the position of Prov . G . S . E . This y ' | he has been selected by the M . E . Z ., H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , to fill the chair of ist Asst . G . D . C . in Grand Chapter . He is also identified with other branches ol Masonry . He is W . The Almoner collected the alms , and the Great Sub-Prior closed the Great Priory . A banquet afterwards took p lace at Freemasons' Tavern , at which the Y ' . E . Great Sub-Prior , the Earl of Euston , presided .

The New Grand Chapter Officers.

THE NEW GRAND CHAPTER OFFICERS .

FIRST ASSISTANT GRAND DIRECTOR OF CEREMONIES . Lieut .-Colonel BENTHAM , whose appointment to office in Grand Chapter we announced a fortnight ago , is a Mason of some 25 years' standing , having been initiated on the 14 th day of June , 1869 , and raised in September of the same year in St . Peters' Lodge , No . 4 81 , Newcastle-on-Tyne . In that lodge he worked up to the position of J . W ., when he became one of the founders of the Percy Lodge . No . 1427 , which was consecrated on the 5 th June , 1873 , when he was appointed the first S . W . In the natural course of events he became W . M . the next year and

at the end of this term was unanimously elected to fill the chair for another year , and has done yeoman service to the lodge . When it was found necessary to form another lodge he became a founder , and was selected as S . W . of the new locl ^ named Hotspur Lodge , No . 1626 , which was consecrated on June 13 th , 18 7 , and when , some years later , the Ridley Lodge , No . 2260 , was formed , he aeain became a founder and was again called upon to be the first S . W ., and the next year wis unanimously elected to the chair . In the Craft , he has held three offices in

Provincial Grand Lodge . He was exalted in St . Peters Chapter , No . 4 81 , on the 17 ;" May , 1871 , in which he rose to be First Principal . He has held several offices in Arch Masonryin the province of Northumberland . On the 16 th December , 18 S 1 , he was appointed Prov . G . S . E ., in which capacity he has acted ever since , with the exception of one year , viz ., 188 3 , when he was appointed Prov . G . H ., but even during this year he attended to the duties of Prov . G . S . E . as well as those of higher rank . He has been most unremitting and energetic in promoting the

interests of Royal Arch Masonry , a degree with which he has been so long and so honourably connected being still in the position of Prov . G . S . E . This y ' | he has been selected by the M . E . Z ., H . R . H . the Prince of Wales , to fill the chair of ist Asst . G . D . C . in Grand Chapter . He is also identified with other branches ol Masonry . He is W .
