CLARENCE LODGE ( No . 263 ) . —The usual weekly meeting was held on the 10 th inst . at Tupp ' s Restaurant , S , Tottenham Court-road . There were present Bros . W . H . Kirby , W . M . j A . E . Barrett , S . W . j J . Corp , J . W . j D . G . Imlay , S . D . j H . Sadler , J . D . j F . Mason , I . G . j H . E . Jay , Neville , J . W . Drysdale , and W . Baker . The lodge having been opened , the minutes of the last

meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Drysdale having offered his services as candidate , was examined and entrusted . He then retired from the lodge , which was opened in the Second Degree , and the candidate was readmitted . The W . M . then rehearsed the ceremony of passing , gave an explanation of the tracing board , and , assisted by Bro . H . Sadler , worked the ist Section of the

First Lecture and the 2 nd Section of the Second Lecture , the charges after each being duly given and carried through by the brethren " to order . '' The lodge being closed in the Second Degree , the W . M . rose for the first time , and Bro . Neville was elected a joining member , and on the W . M . rising for the second and third times , Bro . Dr . A . E . Barrett

was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing meeting , aud he appointed his officers , and announced that the ceremony for rehearsal would be that of raising . " Hearty good wishes" having been tendered the W . M ., the lodge was closed , and a pleasant and thoroughly instructive evening brought to a happy finish .

CAMDEN LODGE ( No . 704 ) . —A meeting was held on Thursday , the 3 rd inst ., at the Masonic Rooms adjoining the White Hart Hotel , 116 , High-street , Lewisham , S . E . Bro . H . R . Trant presided asW . M ., and was supported by Bros . R . W . Cartwright , S . W .: J . T . Axford , P . M ., J . W . j James Stevens , P . M ., P . Z ., Preceptor j Walter Robin , Secj George Pickering , S . D . j S . Lancaster , P . M ., J . D . j

C Thomas , I . G . j W . Fieldson , P . M . j George Browne , H . D . White , Horace T . Bonner , A . Wimbush , E . Leaphard , and others . The lodge was worked in the First Degree , and considerable interest was taken in the endeavour of Bro . Trant , who was initiated into the Craft so recently only as the 3 rd May last , to rule the lodge and perform the initiation

ceremony in a perfect manner . It may be truthfully stated that he was most successful in such endeavour , and thoroughly deserved the cordial approbation of the brethren and their subsequent vote of thanks for his services for the first time as W . M . in this or any other lodge . Instead of Section-working , a period of the evening was devoted to the discussion of interesting points of ceremonial , in respect of

which the Preceptor answered the questionings of the brethren , and afforded much useful information . After the election of joining members , Bro . R . W . Cartwright was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . On the 17 th inst . the lodge will work in the M . M . Degree , on the 24 th the evening will be devoted to the Preceptor , and on the 31 st inst . the ceremony of installation will be rehearsed .

A meeting was also held at the above address on 1 hursday , the 10 th inst . Amongst those present were Bros . R . W . Cartwright , W . M . j G . A . Pickering , S . W . j S . Lancaster , P . Pickering was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . On the 24 th inst . the Preceptor will work the lodge , and on the 31 st instant the installation ceremonv will be rehearsed .

F . Craggs . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the previous meeting read and confirmed . The ceremony of initiation was rehearsed , Bro . Coplestone acting as candidate , the VV . M . rendering the charge in his usual very able manner . Bro . Cummings offering himself as a candidate for passing , was questioned and entrusted . The lodge

was opened in the Second Degree , and the ceremony rehearsed , and the explanation of the tracing board rendered . The lodge was resumed to the First Degree . The W . M . having risen , the S . W . was unanimously elected W . M . for the next meeting . A vote of condolence and sympathy was passed to the family of the late Pro G . M . The lodge was then closed .

meeting were read and confirmed . Bro . Drysdale having offered his services as candidate , was examined and entrusted . He then retired from the lodge , which was opened in the Second Degree , and the candidate was readmitted . The W . M . then rehearsed the ceremony of passing , gave an explanation of the tracing board , and , assisted by Bro . H . Sadler , worked the ist Section of the

First Lecture and the 2 nd Section of the Second Lecture , the charges after each being duly given and carried through by the brethren " to order . '' The lodge being closed in the Second Degree , the W . M . rose for the first time , and Bro . Neville was elected a joining member , and on the W . M . rising for the second and third times , Bro . Dr . A . E . Barrett

was unanimously elected W . M . for the ensuing meeting , aud he appointed his officers , and announced that the ceremony for rehearsal would be that of raising . " Hearty good wishes" having been tendered the W . M ., the lodge was closed , and a pleasant and thoroughly instructive evening brought to a happy finish .

The lodge was worked in the First Degree , and considerable interest was taken in the endeavour of Bro . Trant , who was initiated into the Craft so recently only as the 3 rd May last , to rule the lodge and perform the initiation

ceremony in a perfect manner . It may be truthfully stated that he was most successful in such endeavour , and thoroughly deserved the cordial approbation of the brethren and their subsequent vote of thanks for his services for the first time as W . M . in this or any other lodge . Instead of Section-working , a period of the evening was devoted to the discussion of interesting points of ceremonial , in respect of

which the Preceptor answered the questionings of the brethren , and afforded much useful information . After the election of joining members , Bro . R . W . Cartwright was elected W . M . for the ensuing week . On the 17 th inst . the lodge will work in the M . M . Degree , on the 24 th the evening will be devoted to the Preceptor , and on the 31 st inst . the ceremony of installation will be rehearsed .
