Lady George Hamilton and Lady Lucy Hicks-Beach gave a dance , at the Admiralty , on Friday evening , to the Harrow boys in town for the Eton and Harrow match , their partners being young ladies under 17 years of age . Bro . George Abbott , who has been station master at the Cannon-street Terminus since the opening in 186 C , is now appointed to the charg-e of Charing- Cross Terminus . Bro . Abbott still retains the control of Cannon-street Station .
On Tuesday the Paddington Vestry passed a unanimous vote of thanks to the Prince and Princess of Wales for their visit on the gth inst ., and the kindly interest they have manifested in the welfare and prosperity of the borough . The Princess Louise ( Marchioness of Lome ) and the Marquis of Lome were the guests of Bro . Sir Algernon and Lady Borthwick on Tuesday at their residence in Piccadilly . Later in the evening Lady Borthwick gave a small and select musical party .

On Thursday next , the 24 th instant , the Prince of Wales , who will be accompanied by the Princess of Wales and their daughters , the Princesses Victoria and Maud , will lay the foundation-stone of the new buildings at St . Saviour ' s , Southwark , and thence will proceed to St . George ' s Circus , where he will perform a similar function in connection with the new home of the Royal South London Ophthalmic Hospital , of which his Royal Highness is Patron .

The Province of Tyrone and Fermanagh will hold its usual quarterly meeting in the Masonic Hall , Omagh , today ( Friday ) , at 12 o ' clock noon . This Provincial Grand Lodge has some 22 lodges under its jurisdiction , and meets in rotation at Dungannon , Enniskillen , and Omagh . Bro . Obadiah Ternan , M . D ., 205 , is Prov . Grand Secretary , and with such an able list of Provincial Grand Officers as now occupy the chairs , the affairs of the province should be well looked after .
We regret to announce the death of the wife of Bro . H . J . Breakey , P . J . G . W . of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Armagh , at his residence , The Hill , Monaghan , on 30 th ult . Bro . Breakey has the sincere and heartfelt sympathy of the brethren of the province in his sad bereavement , and to her brother , Bro . Dr . Byans , P . M ., we also extend our sympathetic condolence . Owing to the weather it was impossible to play out the Eton and Harrow match at Lord ' s on Saturday last . The match should have been begun on Friday , but the rain , with which we have been so plentifully visited , rendered play impossible , and the time set apart on the following day was
too short . Tie match , therefore , ended in a draw . Eton scored 103 in its first innings , and 120 for the loss of three wickets at the second attempt , while Harrow made 133 , of which 7 6 runs were contributed by Mr . A . C . Mc aren , the captain , who , with the exception of Butler , was the only Harrovian that made anything of a stand .

The proprietors of Work have arranged to hold an exhibition of articles made by the readers of that journal , for which medals and other prizes are offered . The exhibition will be divided into 16 groups , and will include upwards of 200 sub-divisions . There will be three classes of exhibitors , viz ., workmen , apprentices , and amateurs . A complimentary dinner , over which Bro . Sir Whittaker Ellis , Bart ., M . P ., presided , was given at the Cafe Royal on Saturday evening last , to Mr . Alderman Gould , J . P ., by the Board of Management and Medical Staff of St . John ' s Hospital for Diseases of the Skin .

" The popular comedian is likely , we hear , to surpass hims If . The judge , it seems , has two daughters- twins—and the ^ e will be played by Miss Cissy Grahame and Miss Helen Leyton . The scene of the play
is laid in a provincial town , and the action takes place in a room in an old-fashioned house which has been lent to the judge by a friend . Wc do not , therefore , see the judge in court . Terry ' s Theatre will close after to-morrow ( Saturday ) till the following Thursday , the first night of " The Judge , " in order that the rehearsals and arrangements of the mise-en-sccie may be carried on without interruption .
On the 11 th inst ., by invitation of the brethren of the Warden Lodge , No . 794 , Mr . Walliker took 4 H of the old and most deserving poor to Sutton to spend the day in the pack . An excellent dinner was served them near Black root Pool , and during the afternoon , besides being given a trip round the pool , they were amused with one of Professor Rock ' s entertainments and some aquatic sports by members of the Town Swimming Club . Among those who

The Queen has sent a donation of £ 50 to the Stanley Fund now being raised at the Stanley and African Exhibition for placing a steamer on the Victoria Nyanza to advance civilisation and Christianity in Africa . Her Majesty , accompanied by the Princesses Victoria and Margaret of Prussia , left Windsor Castle for London on Monday for the purpose of being present at the garden party given by the Prince and Princess of Wales at Marlborough House on Monday .
His Royal Hig-hness the Commander-in-Chief made his annual inspection of the Royal Military Asylum ( Duke of York ' s School ) , Chelsea , on Thursday , the 10 th instant , among the general company present being Bros , the Earl ot Jersey and General Lord Wolseley and Bro . Sir Patrick and Lady Grant .
The Prince and Princess Henry of Battenberg left Windsor Castle on the evening of the 10 th instant for the Continent . Their Royal Highnesses will visit Switzerland first , and are likely to remain abroad for several months . They were accompanied to the station by the Duke and Duchess of Connaught .
The proceeds of the concert given at St . A strange aerial phenomenon has been observed at Neu-Miinster , in Holstein . At a considerable height a current of air was moving with tremendous velocity from east to west . Somewhat lower there was an opposite and much slower current . After this had continued for some time the two currents suddenly developed into a waterspout , which did immense damage , raising from the ground and destroying a large barn , and tearing great trees out of the earth as if they were only so many straws .
On Wednesday the Duke of Clarence and Avondale performed the dual ceremony of laying the memorial stone of the new Courts of Justice now being erected at York , and opening the summer exhibition of pictures in connection with the York Fine Art Institution . He was presented with

The Four-in-Hand Club had a meet on the Horse Guards Parade on Thursday evening , the 10 th inst ., when among the teams that assembled were those of Bros . Lord Cheylesmore , the Earl of Londesborough , and Lord Hothlield . At 6 . 15 p . m . the club moved off , under the lead of Lord Willoughby and de Fresby , for the Crystal Palace .
According to the latest arrangements , the German Emperor will arrive in England on a visit to the Queen about the 3 rd or 4 th of August . His Majesty will remain at Osborne for about a week . The Empress Frederick left Windsor Castle on VVednesday at the conclusion of her visit to the Queen , and was to embark at Portsmouth on board the Royal yacht Victoria and Albert for Gibraltar , whence the Empress and her daughters will proceed to Greece .
Mrs . Qscar Beringer will give a matinee on the 30 th inst . for the benefit of Mrs . Beverly ( widow of VV . N . The ist Yorkshire Regiment left Wellington Barracks to return to its quarters at Portsmouth on Saturday , but previous to its departure from Waterloo Station , the regiment—the old 19 th , and known as the Princess of Wales ' s Own—was inspected by the Prince and Princess of Wales in the station yard . The place thus vacated at Wellington Barracks was at once taken by the 1 st Battalion Coldstream Guards from Pirbright .

Report speaks highly of the performance which Mr . Penley is to give us in the title role of Mr . Arthur Law ' s new play , " The Judge . " The popular comedian is likely , we hear , to surpass hims If . The judge , it seems , has two daughters- twins—and the ^ e will be played by Miss Cissy Grahame and Miss Helen Leyton . The scene of the play
is laid in a provincial town , and the action takes place in a room in an old-fashioned house which has been lent to the judge by a friend . Wc do not , therefore , see the judge in court . Terry ' s Theatre will close after to-morrow ( Saturday ) till the following Thursday , the first night of " The Judge , " in order that the rehearsals and arrangements of the mise-en-sccie may be carried on without interruption .
On the 11 th inst ., by invitation of the brethren of the Warden Lodge , No . 794 , Mr . Walliker took 4 H of the old and most deserving poor to Sutton to spend the day in the pack . An excellent dinner was served them near Black root Pool , and during the afternoon , besides being given a trip round the pool , they were amused with one of Professor Rock ' s entertainments and some aquatic sports by members of the Town Swimming Club . The Queen has sent a donation of £ 50 to the Stanley Fund now being raised at the Stanley and African Exhibition for placing a steamer on the Victoria Nyanza to advance civilisation and Christianity in Africa . Her Majesty , accompanied by the Princesses Victoria and Margaret of Prussia , left Windsor Castle for London on Monday for the purpose of being present at the garden party given by the Prince and Princess of Wales at Marlborough House on Monday .
His Royal Hig-hness the Commander-in-Chief made his annual inspection of the Royal Military Asylum ( Duke of York ' s School ) , Chelsea , on Thursday , the 10 th instant , among the general company present being Bros , the Earl ot Jersey and General Lord Wolseley and Bro . Sir Patrick and Lady Grant .
The Prince and Princess Henry of Battenberg left Windsor Castle on the evening of the 10 th instant for the Continent . Their Royal Highnesses will visit Switzerland first , and are likely to remain abroad for several months . They were accompanied to the station by the Duke and Duchess of Connaught .
The proceeds of the concert given at St . James ' s Hall on the 13 th ult ., under the patronage of the Queen and Royal Family , in aid of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children , exceeded £ ' 1000 , and as the artistes gave their services on the occasion , the Society has been enriched by a clear £ 900 .
One of the interesting relics which the Hohenzollern Museum contains is a letter from the Empress Frederick to the Emperor William I ., enclosing some four-leaved clover . The letter runs : " Dear Papa , —Here are thirteen leaves of clover which 1 found yesterday , and which 1 send to you and Mama to bring you luck . " —Your obedient daughter , VICKY . "

A strange aerial phenomenon has been observed at Neu-Miinster , in Holstein . At a considerable height a current of air was moving with tremendous velocity from east to west . Somewhat lower there was an opposite and much slower current . After this had continued for some time the two currents suddenly developed into a waterspout , which did immense damage , raising from the ground and destroying a large barn , and tearing great trees out of the earth as if they were only so many straws .
On Wednesday the Duke of Clarence and Avondale performed the dual ceremony of laying the memorial stone of the new Courts of Justice now being erected at York , and opening the summer exhibition of pictures in connection with the York Fine Art Institution . He was presented with
an address by the Corporation . The functions were attended by imposing formalities , and the city was gaily decorated in honour of the occasion . His Royal Highness met with an extremely loyal reception on passing through the principal streets .

The Prince and Princess of Wales visited Greenwich on the 10 th inst . for the purpose of distributing the prizes to the pupils of the Royal Hospital School . After luncheon in the Painted Hall , at which the Civil Lord of the Admiralty presided , the Royal party , which included the Princesses Victoria and Maud , witnessed a march-past , musical drill and swimming , and a hornpipe . The prizes were then
