Lack-, enby , I . G . ; and about 20 brethren and visitors . The business consisted of the initiation of Mr . William Sharpe and the raising of Bro . Routledge , these ceremonies being performed by Bro . Whytehead , the J . W . giving the charge in the First Degree . A resolution was passed to form a lodge of instruction in connection with the lodge ; and another resolution making an addition to the by-laws

was passed . Presentations of books were made by Bros . C . L . Mason , of Leeds , and T . B . Whytehead . It was announced that Bro . the Earl of Zetland , Provincial Grand Master , had expressed his willingness to perform the dedication ceremony of the hall at some date to be fixed about the end of October , when the new furniture is expected to be ready .

After the close of the lodge , the brethren met in the smoke room , and an exceedingly pleasant evening was spent , enlivened by songs from the W . M ., the J . D ., the Organist ( Bro . Child ) , and others . " The Health of the W . M . " was drank with enthusiasm , and in reply he thanked the brethren most cordially , and stated his intention to do the utmost in his power for the interest of the lodge .

W . M . called the attention of the brethren to the Arnold testimonial , then being got up by the Surrey Lodges , when a subscription list was sent round . Bro . VV . G . Oates proposed Mr . Arthur Mathey , F . R . C . S ., for initiation . Nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed and the brethren adjourned to the banquet room , where a very excellent repast was served under the personal supervision of Bro . voted to the retiring M . E . Z ., Comp . T . Barr , who , to the great regret of the companions , was through illness unable to be present . Nothing further offering , the convocation was adjourned , and the companions then proceeded to the banquet room , where , as usual , a most excellent repast was served under the personal direction of the most able and courteous oi hosts—Comp . the Market Hotel , where the host , Comp . James Lord , had prepared a sumptuous banquet , which reflected the greatest credit on himself and the worthy hostess , Mrs . Lord , and which was heartily enjoyed by all who partook of it . The usual loyal and Masonic toasts were duly honoured . "The Health of Comp . Sillitoe" was proposed by the M . E . Z . in felicitous terms , and drunk with great cordiality

and enthusiasm , The toasts of "The Newly Installed Principals ; " "The I . P . Z . ; " "The Officers ; " "The Visitors ; " "The Host and Hostess ; " and "All Poor and Distressed Masons " were proposed and suitably responded to . During the evening Comps . J . Lord , R . Harris , and J . Wilson enlivened the proceedings with some capital songs .

NORTH LONDON CHAPTER OF IMPROVEMENT ( No . * 4 ! ' ) . —^ convocation was held at the Alwyne Castle Tavern , St . Paul's-road , Canonbury , N ., on Thursday , the 10 th inst ., when there were present Comps . G . Gregory , P . Z ., ' / .. j II . E . Dehane , II . ; I . Strugnell , J . ; J . E . Sheffield , S . E . ; T . J . Bird , S . N . ; S . George , P . S . ; T . C . Edmunds , Preceptor . The minutes of the last convocation were read and confirmed , and the ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . Edmunds as candidate . A ballot was then taken , and Comp . Strugnell was successful , and decided to place it on Comp . Storr's list for the

R . M . B . I . at thc next festival . A vote of thanks was passed to Comps . Gregory , Dehane , and George for their trouble in scrutiniz . ing the attendances of the companions entitled to participate in the ballot . This is now the third ballet that has been drawn out of the very small fees paid for attendance in a little over two years , showing that there has been an evident desire by tiie companions to profit by the instruction to be obtained at this comfortable chapter of improvement . STONEHOUSE . —Sincerity Lodge ( No . 35 ) . — A meeting of this lodge was held on Monday , the ? th inst ., at St . George ' s Hall . W . Bro . R . H . Rae , P . M ., P . P . G . T ., presided . During the evening a handsome tracing-board of the degree , the gift of Bro . Lemon , was accepted by the lodge . It is the only tracing-board of the kind at present in possession of the Mark brethren of the Three Towns .

Bro . Lemon said that on his recent visit to London to accept the office of Grand Chaplain of the Order , it occurred to him , on seeing several tracing-boards there , that his lodge ought also to have one . Thanks were voted him for his kind consideration , which Bro . Rae said would be much appreciated by the brethren of the lodge and the

berthren in the province generally , amongst whom , also , Bro . Lemon is well known and much esteemed . The tracing-board is to bear the following inscription : " Presented to the Lodge of Sincerity , No . 35 , Mark Master Masons , by the Very Worshipful Bro . the Rev . T , VV . Lemon , M . A resolution was passed to form a lodge of instruction in connection with the lodge ; and another resolution making an addition to the by-laws

was passed . Presentations of books were made by Bros . C . L . Mason , of Leeds , and T . B . Whytehead . It was announced that Bro . the Earl of Zetland , Provincial Grand Master , had expressed his willingness to perform the dedication ceremony of the hall at some date to be fixed about the end of October , when the new furniture is expected to be ready .

After the close of the lodge , the brethren met in the smoke room , and an exceedingly pleasant evening was spent , enlivened by songs from the W . M ., the J . D ., the Organist ( Bro . Child ) , and others . " The Health of the W . M . " was drank with enthusiasm , and in reply he thanked the brethren most cordially , and stated his intention to do the utmost in his power for the interest of the lodge .

During the evening a handsome tracing-board of the degree , the gift of Bro . Lemon , was accepted by the lodge . It is the only tracing-board of the kind at present in possession of the Mark brethren of the Three Towns .

Bro . Lemon said that on his recent visit to London to accept the office of Grand Chaplain of the Order , it occurred to him , on seeing several tracing-boards there , that his lodge ought also to have one . Thanks were voted him for his kind consideration , which Bro . Rae said would be much appreciated by the brethren of the lodge and the

berthren in the province generally , amongst whom , also , Bro . Lemon is well known and much esteemed .
