G . S . W .: — " That a grant of 50 guineas be made from the funds of the province to the Royal Benevolent Institution for Aged Freemasons and Widows of Freemasons . The death is reported as having occurred in New York , on the Gth July last , of Bro . Lieut .-Commander H . H . Gorringe , United States Navy , whose name will always be associated with the removal of the Egyptian obelisk , Presented by the Khedive of Egypt to the United States , from Alexandria to Central Park , New York . Bro .
Gorringe was only 45 years of age , and his death , the consequence of an accident he met with in December last when boarding a train in motion in Philadelphia , and he received injuries to his spine which have thus proved fatal . The deceased was born in Tobago , and having entered the United States Navy before the mast during the Civil War , rose rapidly to the rank of Lieut .-Commander .

Bowen , whose death occurred on the 23 rd August last , the event being no doubt hastened by an accident which befel Bro . Brown some four weeks previously , when he fell and broke his thigh . The deceased was in the 94 th year of his age , and in December 1 S 17 , that is GS Years
since , was installed the hrst W . M . of Mount Moriah Lodge , No . IS 5 , Philadelphia . Bro . Bowen was re-elected to the chair in 181 S for a second term of office , and on his retirement from that position , was appointed Secretary , an office he continued to hold for the next 25 years . Bro . Bowen was the oldest member of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania , and , indeed , was considered to be the oldest
Mason in the jurisdiction . His funeral was arranged to take place on the 30 th August , in Mount Moriah Cemetery . The Keystone oi Philadel phia , in one of its recent numbers has a brief , but appreciative , notice of Bro . Joseph E . Bowen , whose death occurred on the 23 rd August last , the event being no doubt hastened by an accident which befel Bro . Brown some four weeks previously , when he fell and broke his thigh . The deceased was in the 94 th year of his age , and in December 1 S 17 , that is GS Years
since , was installed the hrst W . M . of Mount Moriah Lodge , No . IS 5 , Philadelphia . Bro . Bowen was re-elected to the chair in 181 S for a second term of office , and on his retirement from that position , was appointed Secretary , an office he continued to hold for the next 25 years . Bro . Bowen was the oldest member of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania , and , indeed , was considered to be the oldest
Mason in the jurisdiction . His funeral was arranged to take place on the 30 th August , in Mount Moriah Cemetery .
