Owing to thc ccunter attractions of an agricultural meeting and dinner at F . gham , the attendance fell short of the usual number . Nevertheless , the _ convocation was a thoroughly successful one , and the excellent banquet provided by Comp . G . J . Mason evoked the warmest praise from all those who had the good fortune to partake of it . _ The speeches were models of brevity , and after a most pleasant [ musical evening , the companions separated at an early hour .

Lawson , P . M ., Grand Steward , responded on behalf of " The Grand Officers . "

It was to be regretted that there had been so little work to do . The speaker hoped that Bro . Thomson Lyon , after which the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to Freemasons' Tavern to supper , and subsequently honoured the usual toasts . Bros . C . F . Matier and Sir J . B . Monckton—both of whom assisted at the consecration of the lodge—responded " to the toast of "The Grand Officers , " wishing it every

success . Bro . Lyon , I . P . M ., proposed "The W . M ., " and said he was very pleased to leave the chair of the lodge in the hands of such a brother . Having had a share in the birth of the lodge , he was much pleased to see it now walking by itself , and he thought the brethren of the lodge might congratulate themselves on the way the officers did their

work that evening . As it was usual to talk of the bright prospects of a lodge , he wis quite satisfied with the present position of the Justicia Lodge , and he was pleased to finish his year by introducing such a member as Sir Thomas Carmichael . Everything had gone on swimmingly during the year ; thc members attended , did their work , paid their subscriptions—under pressure—and placed the lodge in a position with regard to working second to no lodge in London .

Bro . Sir Simeon Stuart , VV . M ., responding , said he should try to follow in the footsteps of Bro . Lyon , but was afraid he should have difficulty in keeping up the average . However , he would do his best to keep up the prestige of the lodge with respect to working . Bro . Sir Thomas Carmichael replied to the toast of " The Advances , and Bro . Lyon to that of " Thc I . P . M ., " thanking the brethren for the Past Master's jewel presented to him .

Bro . Tamburini proposed "The Visitors , " and Bros . Wishart , Morice , and Vicary replied . The toast of "The Officers" was acknowledged by the S . W ., the J . W ., and Bro . W . Vincent , the Secretary , and , after the Tyler ' s toast , the brethren parted .

Leversedge , in response to the toast of " Thc Newly Admitted , " spoke m the highest terms of the Degrees , and eulogised the working of Comp . H . J . Lardner . He said he was particularly struck with the apparent ease with which the expoient 0 ' the rituals carried out the work—a masterly effort of memory . He wis also impressed with the manner in which Comp . Pakes delivered an address in th : Second Degree—a most beautiful piece of composition . A few other toasts followed . The rest of the evening was , indeed , a feast of reason and a flow of soul .

A handsome jewel < f a Past Master was presented to Bro . H . Thomson Lyon , after which the lodge was closed , and the brethren adjourned to Freemasons' Tavern to supper , and subsequently honoured the usual toasts . Bros . C . F . Matier and Sir J . B . Monckton—both of whom assisted at the consecration of the lodge—responded " to the toast of "The Grand Officers , " wishing it every

success . Bro . Lyon , I . P . M ., proposed "The W . M ., " and said he was very pleased to leave the chair of the lodge in the hands of such a brother . Having had a share in the birth of the lodge , he was much pleased to see it now walking by itself , and he thought the brethren of the lodge might congratulate themselves on the way the officers did their

work that evening . As it was usual to talk of the bright prospects of a lodge , he wis quite satisfied with the present position of the Justicia Lodge , and he was pleased to finish his year by introducing such a member as Sir Thomas Carmichael . Everything had gone on swimmingly during the year ; thc members attended , did their work , paid their subscriptions—under pressure—and placed the lodge in a position with regard to working second to no lodge in London .

Bro . Sir Simeon Stuart , VV . M ., responding , said he should try to follow in the footsteps of Bro . Lyon , but was afraid he should have difficulty in keeping up the average . However , he would do his best to keep up the prestige of the lodge with respect to working . Bro . Sir Thomas Carmichael replied to the toast of " The Advances , and Bro . Lyon to that of " Thc I . P . M ., " thanking the brethren for the Past Master's jewel presented to him .

Bro . Tamburini proposed "The Visitors , " and Bros . Wishart , Morice , and Vicary replied . The toast of "The Officers" was acknowledged by the S . W ., the J . W ., and Bro . W . Vincent , the Secretary , and , after the Tyler ' s toast , the brethren parted .

The chapter was declared opened , and the minutes rrad and confirmed , afterwhich the ceremony of exaltation was rehearsed , Comp . Ironside biing the candidate . Comps . Edder and Ironside were elected joining members . The chapter having been closed , the companions adjourned to a choice supper , served by the genial host , Ccmp . Tuck . in a molt admirable manner , eliciting the highest praise .

ROYAL SAVOY LODGE ( MARK ) , No . 1744 . The first meeting of this lodge was held at the Cock Tavern , Highbury , on the Gth instant , when there were present Bros . Humphries . VV . M . ; McDjwall , S . W . ; Walter George , J . W . ; J . Collins , M . O . ; M . Tuck , S . O . ; J . Robinson , J . O . ; G . VV . Knight , I . G . ; and others . The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The ceremony of advancement was rehearsed , after which the election

of officers took place , the following being elected : Bros . Major McDowall , Treas . ; Calling , Sec . ; and Edmonds , Preceptor . It was proposed by Bro . G . W . Knight that the lodge should meet at seven instead of eight o'clock . Several brethren of the Highbury and Duke of Connaught Lodges were made members . The lodge was then closed . T he council was closed in the Degree of Select Master , and the companion adjourned to dine at the Holborn Restaurant . Comp . George Powell presided in a most able manner . Comp . Leversedge , in response to the toast of " Thc Newly Admitted , " spoke m the highest terms of the Degrees , and eulogised the working of Comp . H . J . Lardner . He said he was particularly struck with the apparent ease with which the expoient 0 ' the rituals carried out the work—a masterly effort of memory . He wis also impressed with the manner in which Comp . Pakes delivered an address in th : Second Degree—a most beautiful piece of composition . A few other toasts followed . The rest of the evening was , indeed , a feast of reason and a flow of soul .
