Owing to thc ccunter attractions of an agricultural meeting and dinner at F . gham , the attendance fell short of the usual number . Nevertheless , the _ convocation was a thoroughly successful one , and the excellent banquet provided by Comp . G . J . Mason evoked the warmest praise from all those who had the good fortune to partake of it . _ The speeches were models of brevity , and after a most pleasant [ musical evening , the companions separated at an early hour .

success . Bro . Lyon , I . P . M ., proposed "The W . M ., " and said he was very pleased to leave the chair of the lodge in the hands of such a brother . Having had a share in the birth of the lodge , he was much pleased to see it now walking by itself , and he thought the brethren of the lodge might congratulate themselves on the way the officers did their

work that evening . As it was usual to talk of the bright prospects of a lodge , he wis quite satisfied with the present position of the Justicia Lodge , and he was pleased to finish his year by introducing such a member as Sir Thomas Carmichael . Everything had gone on swimmingly during the year ; thc members attended , did their work , paid their subscriptions—under pressure—and placed the lodge in a position with regard to working second to no lodge in London .

Bro . Sir Simeon Stuart , VV . M ., responding , said he should try to follow in the footsteps of Bro . Lyon , but was afraid he should have difficulty in keeping up the average . However , he would do his best to keep up the prestige of the lodge with respect to working . Bro . Sir Thomas Carmichael replied to the toast of " The Advances , and Bro . Lyon to that of " Thc I . P . M ., " thanking the brethren for the Past Master's jewel presented to him .

He said he was particularly struck with the apparent ease with which the expoient 0 ' the rituals carried out the work—a masterly effort of memory . He wis also impressed with the manner in which Comp . Pakes delivered an address in th : Second Degree—a most beautiful piece of composition . A few other toasts followed . The rest of the evening was , indeed , a feast of reason and a flow of soul .
