There was a large attendance of members and visitors , the latter including " Principals of the Poole and Wimborne Chapters . The minutes of the previous chapter having been read and confirmed , the following companions were installed

the past year , which was very satisfactory , was read and adopted . A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Installing Officer . The meeting being closed , the companions adjourned to a banquet at the Imperial , served in Bro . Reinpach's best style .

Amity Chaotei" ( No . 137 '! . —The annual installation meeting of this chapter was held on Friday , the 12 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , when the following' companions were duly installed into tbeir respective chairs bv Comp . H . J . Atkins , P . Z . 195 , P . P . G . J . Hants and Isle of Wight , who had been requested to perform the ceremony , viz . :

Amongst the visitors we noticed the three Principals of the Hengist Chapter , Comps . Harvey , C . T . Miles , and W . H . Miles . Thc accounts for the past year were read and adopted .

Several brethren of the Amity Lodge were nominated as candidates . A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Comp . Atkins for the very impressive way he had rendered the installation ceremony , and thc companions adjourned to the usual banquet . The usual toasts followed , ancl very friendly greetings were exchanged between thc sister chapters in the neighbourhood .

Gowan was balloted for , and accepted as a candidate , and , being in attendance , was impressively advanced to the grade of Zelator by the M . T . The D . M . T ., Fra . Lardner , delivered the lecture on the numbers and mystic knowledge ; ancl the Secretary performed the symbolic conflagration and gave the final admonition .

Frater F . D . Harrison , of the York College , was unanimously elected as a joining member . 'The Supreme Magus then delivered a most learned and interesting lecture on the "Ten Hebrew Sephiroth , or Emanations of the Deity , " which was listened to with great attention . A vote of thanks was proposed by the M . of T ., who remarked on the erudition of the S . M . ; seconded bv the Treas .-Gen .,

and carried by acclamation . A discussion on the paper ensued , in which Fratres Westcott , Lewis 'Thomas , VV . G . Lemon , the Secretary , and others took part . The Supreme Magus returned thanks in a short speech . The Secretary stated that he had received letters of apology ancl postcards from Fratres Lambert , Irwin , Whytehead , Street , Webster Glynes , Bulmer , Rev . R . Peek , Gumbleton , and many

others . He also asked several brethren , who had not already done so , to let him know their mottoes . There being no further business , several of the fratres adjourned to the Holborn Restaurant , where a banquet awaited them in the "Colonel's Room , " ancl where discussion on occult and other subjects was continued till a late hour .

Frederick Kedge on his attaining the high position of W . M . of thc Anglo-American Lodge , and wished him a prosperous and successful year of office . CENTENARY OF THE ROYAL CLARENCE LODGE , No . 271 .

'The Royal Clarence Lodge , No . 271 , was consecrated in August , 17 S 9 , and the brethren , having received a favourable reply from the M . W . the Grand Master to their application for a centenary warrant , have arranged to celebrate the event by a festival at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , on Friday , October iSth next , when it is expected that a large number of brethren will be present . The whole suite of rooms

have been engaged for the meeting' , and the banquet will be held in the Dome . The Royal Clarence Lodge can show an uninterrupted existence from its foundation ; it was for several years presided over by the Duke of Richmond when Provincial Grand Master , and the names of the Worshipful Masters form an extraordinary record ; the present Dep . Prov . Grand

Master , also the late Prov . Grand Masters and Deputy Prov . Grand Masters , being initiates of the lodge . We look forward with much interest to the history of the lodge , which is in preparation , as the minutes are complete from the lirst , and as this is the first lodge in Sussex which will have

completed a centenary , the brethren are determined to make the occasion a memorable one , and intend to invite the M . W . the Grand Master , the Pro Grand Master , the Dep . Grand Grand Master , the principal Grand Officers , and Provincial Grand Officers , the VVorshipful Masters of lodges , anil others specially noted as active workers in the Craft . *

SUMMER BANQUET AND GARDEN PARTY OF THE CITY OF LONDON LODGE , No . 901 .

'The summer banquet and garden party of the above lodge was given on Thursday , the nth inst ., at the Crown Hotel , Broxbourne . At three o ' clock , the part )* , consisting of 74 , sat down to a good banquet , which was well served by the hostess , Mrs . Bennefield . Bro . Haylock , VV . M ., presided , assisted by Bros . Hoddinott , S . VV . j Prince . J . W . ; ancl T . Venner , Hon . Sec . Grace being over , the W . M . gave the loyal and Masonic toasts , which were duly honoured .

1 he VV . M . then gave " The Ladies , " coupling thc toast with the name of Mr . E . Venner , jun ., who he wished many happy returns of the day , it being his eighteenth birthuay . Mr . VENNER , in suitable terms responded , and stated he did not know much about them , but hoped in a few years to know more . , " The Health of the Chairman " was then proposed , ana responded to by the VV . M . 'The band . ofjthe Tower Hamlets Volunteer Royal Eng inM fs

contributed considerably to the day's enjoyment by playjt . in the grounds during the morning , at the banquet , and awj for dancing in the evening ; and Bros . South , Prince , ana Bouffler gave some good songs between the dancing , accompanied by Mr . Prince . The party returned to town by the 10 . 20 train , expressin g that it had been the most enjoyable outing they had ever j attended .

Frater F . D . Harrison , of the York College , was unanimously elected as a joining member . 'The Supreme Magus then delivered a most learned and interesting lecture on the "Ten Hebrew Sephiroth , or Emanations of the Deity , " which was listened to with great attention . A vote of thanks was proposed by the M . of T ., who remarked on the erudition of the S . M . ; seconded bv the Treas .-Gen .,

and carried by acclamation . A discussion on the paper ensued , in which Fratres Westcott , Lewis 'Thomas , VV . G . Lemon , the Secretary , and others took part . The Supreme Magus returned thanks in a short speech . The Secretary stated that he had received letters of apology ancl postcards from Fratres Lambert , Irwin , Whytehead , Street , Webster Glynes , Bulmer , Rev . R . Peek , Gumbleton , and many

others . He also asked several brethren , who had not already done so , to let him know their mottoes . CENTENARY OF THE ROYAL CLARENCE LODGE , No . 271 .

'The Royal Clarence Lodge , No . 271 , was consecrated in August , 17 S 9 , and the brethren , having received a favourable reply from the M . W . the Grand Master to their application for a centenary warrant , have arranged to celebrate the event by a festival at the Royal Pavilion , Brighton , on Friday , October iSth next , when it is expected that a large number of brethren will be present . The whole suite of rooms

have been engaged for the meeting' , and the banquet will be held in the Dome . The Royal Clarence Lodge can show an uninterrupted existence from its foundation ; it was for several years presided over by the Duke of Richmond when Provincial Grand Master , and the names of the Worshipful Masters form an extraordinary record ; the present Dep . Prov . Grand

Master , also the late Prov . Grand Masters and Deputy Prov . Grand Masters , being initiates of the lodge . We look forward with much interest to the history of the lodge , which is in preparation , as the minutes are complete from the lirst , and as this is the first lodge in Sussex which will have

completed a centenary , the brethren are determined to make the occasion a memorable one , and intend to invite the M . W . the Grand Master , the Pro Grand Master , the Dep . 'The summer banquet and garden party of the above lodge was given on Thursday , the nth inst ., at the Crown Hotel , Broxbourne . At three o ' clock , the part )* , consisting of 74 , sat down to a good banquet , which was well served by the hostess , Mrs . Bennefield . Bro . Haylock , VV . M ., presided , assisted by Bros . Hoddinott , S . VV . j Prince . J . W . ; ancl T . Venner , Hon . Sec . Grace being over , the W . M . gave the loyal and Masonic toasts , which were duly honoured .

1 he VV . M . then gave " The Ladies , " coupling thc toast with the name of Mr . E . Venner , jun ., who he wished many happy returns of the day , it being his eighteenth birthuay . Mr . VENNER , in suitable terms responded , and stated he did not know much about them , but hoped in a few years to know more . , " The Health of the Chairman " was then proposed , ana responded to by the VV . contributed considerably to the day's enjoyment by playjt . in the grounds during the morning , at the banquet , and awj for dancing in the evening ; and Bros . The party returned to town by the 10 . 20 train , expressin g that it had been the most enjoyable outing they had ever j attended .
