Through failure in business he left Scarborough , and subsequently was appointed Inspector of Buildings on the North Eastern Railway . After a short illness died ( of inflamation of the lungs brought on by exposure to cold in the discharge of his duties ) on the 16 th November 1870 , leaving a Widow and three Children ; since which time the mother has deserted them , and thev are bv the kind assistance of friends now being supported .
