entrusted with the toast of the evening— "The Health of Bro . John Chadwick , P . G . S . East Lane and Secretary of the Lodge . " Bro . Smith said that , having been associated with Bro . Chadwick in lodge work for 32 years , he had particular pleasure in proposing that toast , following upon the presentation made on behalf of the members in open lodge . His long and intimate connection with Bro .

Chadwick justified the highest compliment he could pay him , not only of respect and esteem for his private worth , but also for his long and distinguished Masonic career . Bro . Major J . W . their handsome present , accepting it as a tangible expression of their friendship and regard , hoping that nothing would transpire to prevent a continuance of those happy relations he valued so highly . Bro . F . W . Lean , in replying to the toast of " The Visitors , " congratulated Bro . Chadwick upon living long enough to see his early efforts to improve and consolidate

their local Charities bloom into a vigorous and effective organisation , deservedly enjoying the confidence of every Mason in the province , and so well calculated to carry out Ihe principles of benevolence and Charity by relieving the poor and distressed , the widow and orphan . The other usual toasts followed , and a pleasant evening was spent .

LIVERPOOL . —Harmonic Lodge ( No . 216 ) . — A specially interesting meeting of the members of this lodge was held on Thursday , the nth inst ., at the Adelphi Hotel , the attendance being the most influential and representative which has probably ever been witnessed in con-. nection with a lodge which deservedly holds a prominent position in the province . Invitations were extended to

many of the past and present P . G . Officers , and to the Mayor of Liverpool ( Bro . T . W . Oakshott ) , but unfortunately his worship , owing to illness , was prevented from being present—an absence which was greatly regretted . In the course of the evening Bros . Dr . George Remmer was raised of the Sublime Degree of a M . M . MARYPORT . —Perseverance Lodge ( No . 371 ) . —The regular monthly meeting of this lodge was held in the Freemasons' Hall on Tuesday , the gth inst ., the following members and visitors being present : Bros . M ., after which a letter of condolence was voted to the widow of our late esteemed Bro . Jonathan Banks , P . M . The lodge was then closed . Then the brethren present all adjourned to the anteroom for the purpose of presenting a small token of respect

and esteem to Bro . Jno . W . Robinson , on the occasion of his leaving this part of the country for Northamptonshire . The testimonial was a handsomely bound and illuminated album , with a short address written inside , and on the fourth page is the emblem of a M . M ., facing which is a splendid likeness , cabinet size , of our old worthy and esteemed Bro . Joseph Nicholson , P . P . S . G . W . and Treas .

for 371 . Bro . Joseph Abbott , W . M ., presided . After the loyal and patriotic toasts had been responded to , Bro . Dickinson made the presentation in a neat speech . He expressed his regret that the lodge was about to lose such a good and valuable Mason , who had worked assiduously so many years for the good and welfare in Masonry , and hoped that in his new sphere Bro . Robinson would be more successful than he had hitherto been .

Bro . J . Nicholson gave a hearty and tordial support to the above remaarks . Bro . T . Carey , in a somewhat lengthy speech , testified to the honesty and integrity of Bro . Robinson , not only as a Mason , but as a tradesman , and further said that he and his forefathers had now for nearly a hundred years been known in those parts for their sterling , straightforward

dealings in tbesr capacity as millers , and it was only now when " steam mills" had quite superseded the "water mills" that Bro . Robinson had thought fit to take his departure to "fresh fields" and " pastures new . " Bros . T . Mandle , A . Walters , T . Boyd , and T . W . Melrose also spoke a few appropriate remarks . Bro . Robinson , who was deeply affected by the eulogiums showered upon him , thanked them all kindly for the

handsome testimonial they had that evening presented to him , not so much for its intrinsic value , as that it would remind him ever of the dear and kind old friends he had left in Cumberland , and more especially in Perseverance Lodge , No . 371 . After "The Health of the W . M . " had been duly honoured , the proceedings closed by everyone present wishing Bro . Robinson " God speed . "

LUDLOW . —Lodge of the Marches ( No . 611 ) . The first meeting for the session of this lodge took place at the Masonic Hall , on Wednesday , the 3 rd instant . Venables , P . A . G . D . C , D . P . G . M ., W . M ., and after the minutes of the last meeting had been read and

confirmed , the accounts for the past year and the report of the Audit Committee were produced , from which it appeared that the lodge was the strongest in the province of Shropshire , and that the finances were in a flourishing condition . Bro . W . E , Sharp , S . W . and W . M . elect , was then presented by Bro . F . Cox , P . G . Swd . Br ., to the W . M ., and by him impressively and fluently installed in the chair , receiving the assistance of Bros . W . Powell , P . P . G . D . C , and W . Norton , P . P . G . P ., in certain parts of the ceremony . The following officers were then invested

Other business having been transacted , after "Hearty good wishes " from the visitors the lodge was closed , when the brethren adjourned to the Royal Clarence Hotel for supper , which , it is needless to say , was served in a manner worthy of the high reputation of Bro . Clemow . Many toasts were duly honoured , and after passing a most pleasant evening the brethren separated .

PLUMSTEAD . —United Military Lodge ( No . 1536 ) . —The usual monthly meeting of the above lodge took place on Friday , the 12 th inst ., at the Lord Raglan Assembly Rooms , Burrage-road , Bro . the Past Masters , they must not expect him to make a long speech . He , however , thanked them for their cordial reception of the toast . He was exceedingly pleased to see Bro . Cooper present that night , and to witness the able manner in which he had carried out the work of the lodge . He said over ten years ago that he would ever do all he could for the prosperity of the lodge , and he had done so 5

and , in conclusion , he trusted that every brother of the lodge would aspire to the position of a Past Master and get it . Bro . Captain Richey , in responding for " The Visitors , " said that was not his first visit to the lodge . He was present when their W . M . was installed , and , hearing that he was sure to be present that night , came again to see him and renew a pleasant acquaintance with him , and when

Then the brethren present all adjourned to the anteroom for the purpose of presenting a small token of respect

and esteem to Bro . Jno . W . Robinson , on the occasion of his leaving this part of the country for Northamptonshire . The testimonial was a handsomely bound and illuminated album , with a short address written inside , and on the fourth page is the emblem of a M . for 371 .

He said over ten years ago that he would ever do all he could for the prosperity of the lodge , and he had done so 5
