On Saturday last there was a large gathering of Present and Past Grand Officers and other brethren at the official residence of the Lord Mayor , VV . Bro . Sir Alfred Newton , Bart ., P . G . D . The cccasion was a meeting of the lodge of which the Lord Mayor was a founder and the first W . M ., and which is presided over this year by the Lord Mayor ' s son , W . Bro . Harry Kottingham NewtonM . A ., D . L ., who was the first initiate in the
, lodge . The Most Worshipful Grand Master granted a dispensation for the holding of the meeting at the Mansion House , and the old ballroom was used as a Masonic temple . M . said , in submitting the toast , he felt that no words of his were needed lo obtain from the brethren a loyal and reirty reception at the mention of H . R . H . the Prince ol Wales , M . W . G . M ., who took an active interest in the welfare of the Craft . " The M . W . Pro G . M ., the R . W . Dep . G . M ., and the rest of the Grand Officers , Present and Past , " was next submitted by the W . M ., who said in the presence of so many Grand Officers he would have liked to give full expression to those sentiments ol love and loyalty which animated every Mason towards them . He would ask the Grand Officers i resent to take the measure of the brethren ' s love and esteem for them to be in

This was , he said , an age i » records , but lie thought the record had been beaten there that night , for in the chairman of the lodge was n jt only one who was a great and a goad and excellent working Mason in himself , but he was the son of the Lord Mayor , who was the senior Past Master ot the lodge . Work it out how they liked they could not find a record like it . As Grand Officers , they ought to compliment the Worshipful Master on the go ' , "
