SOUTHAMPTON . —Royal Gloucester Lodge ( No . 130 ) . —The brethren of the above lodge held their annual gathering on Thursday , 12 th inst ., at the Masonic Hall , for the installation of the W . M . and the investment of ollicers , & c . The Gloucester Lodge , as well as the Southampton Lodge , No . 394 , and the Twelve Brothers Lodge , No . 7 S 5 , has been thrown into mourning by the
death of Bro . G . Dunlop , who was a P . M . of both lodges , and the large portrait of the deceased , in Masonic regalia , hanging in the lodge room , presented by Bro . Dunlop to the Gloucester Lodge about three years ago , was draped in black crape . The VV . M . elect was Bro . R . F . Osborn , and the Installing Board was composed of the following , in addition to Bro . Lees , the retiring W . M . ;

Alter the ceremony , a cordial vote of thanks for his
services during the past year was accorded to the retiring W . M ., Bro . Lees , on the proposition of the D . P . G . M ., seconded by Bro . Miles , reference being made by the latter to the Jubilee party held last April on the invitation of Ihe W . M . and Mrs . Lees , and to the visit of the Prov . Grand Master and his officers to the Gloucester Lodge during the past year . The vote of thanks was coupled
with a decision to present Bro . Lees with a Past Master ' s jewel ; and it was further resolved to vote five guineas from the lodge funds to the Southampton Masonic Benevolent Institution , in the name of Bro . Lees . After the transaction of the ordinary business , Bro . T . P . Payne said he had been requested to undertake the melancholy duty of proposing a vote of
condolence and sympathy vvith the widow , son , and members of the family of the late respected Bro . Dunlop , a P . M . of the lodge . He was sure they all felt as he did—that not only had the Freemasons of Southampton lost a worthy and esteemed brother , but that the town itself had lost a citizen who , during his many years' residence there , had been of great service to the community as a commercial
man . He did not know whether the Masons , as a body , would attend the funeral on the following day , but probably that matter would be left to the individual action of the brethren . The D . P . G . M ., in seconding the motion , thought it was not desirable to add much to what had already been said by Bro . Payne . Masonry in Southampton would for a long
time miss the genial face of their deceased Bro . Dunlop , who frequently attended the Gloucester Lodge in recent years , and was always particularly happy on installation days . Bro . Dunlop , last year , as Senior Grand Warden , occupied almost the highest position in the province which it was possible to attain . He ( the D . P . G . M . ) and one or two others had been spoken to on the subject of the
funeral , and although it was thought that attendance should be left to individuals , yet desiring that some tribute from the brethren generally should be paid to the memory of the deceased , they had directed that a wreath , bearing a card " From the Freemasons of Southampton , " should
be forwarded . The motion was carried in silence , and the lodge very appropriately followed up the vote of sympathy by voting £ 5 to the widow of a late brother of the lodge , who it was stated was in indigent circumstances in London . The usual installation banquet , owing to Bro . Dunlop ' s death , was not held .

For the Prov . Grand Lodge , Bro . Lemon responded . Bro . H . S . Hill gave " 1 he Earl of Mount Edgcumbe , Prov . Grand Master , and the Prov . Grand Lodge of Cornwall , " the names of Bros . Cassell , Williams , and Morgan being associated with it . Bro . Cassell spoke of the great and thoroughly sound progress Masonry had made in Cornwall since the present Prov . Grand Master had held sway , and of the cordial manner in which the Provinces of Devon and Cornwall
worked together . In eulogistic terms Bro . Stenlake proposed "The W . M . of the Lodge . " Bro . Bridgman , in responding , remprked that , although Freemasonry had its black sheep , who now and then brought discredit upon it , the Order was sound to the core , and doing a grand work in enabling men to meet avoiding religious bitterness and political animosity—a haven of rest
in the world of turmoil . " The l . P . M . " was heartily toasted at the bidding of the Worshipful Master , who referred to the excellence and prosperity of Bro . Hannaford ' s rule during the past year , and greatly regretted his unavoidable absence . Bro . Moysey , P . M ., responded for Bro . W . J . C Hannaford . " The Treasurer and the Secretary " was given by Bro . Hifley , P . M .

The year began with a balance of ^ , 32 , and after upwards of £ 12 had been voted to vaiious Charities , and £ 50 deposited in the bank there was a balance in hand of ^ 20 . There had been 14 init . utions during the year . Bro . Browning , P . M ., mentioned that this was the 20 th
year of his Secretaryship . Bros . Phillips , P . M ., and Blight , P . M ., responded for " The Past Masters of the Lodge , " proposed by Bro . Payne . Bro . Hoyten , P . M ., gave "The Wardens , " both responding . Bro . Lavers , in the course of his reply , mentioned that during the eight years he had been a member of the lodge
he had only missed one meeting . The Worshipful Master gave " The Assistant Officers , " and Bro . Earl made a neat response . Bro . Moysey , P . M ., genially submitted " Our Sister Lodges , " and Bro . Cowley responded .

LIVERPOOL . —Lodge of Sincerity ( No . 292 ) . —This lodge is one of the oldest in the Province of West Lancashire , and held its installation meeting on Monday , the 9 th inst ., at the Adelphi Hotel , which was one of the most successful that have been held for some time past . There was a large attendance of brethren and visitors , and the homeliness and comfort of the room in which they
assembled was pleasant to behold . The lodge was convened for an early hour in the altcrnoon to enable Bro . J . VV . Page , W . M ., to give the First Degree , vvhich he did in a most effective manner , and in the performance of which he was ably supported by the following officers : Bros . F . T . Foulkes , l . P . Anxious to show his appreciation of the confidence placed in him , he desired
to present a banner , vvhich he asked the VV . M . to accept on behalf ot the lodge , expressing a hope that it would hang over the chair , rilled by worthy men as Masters , for many years to come , and would be a rallying point for the brethren in suppoit of a worthy Master . The W . M ., in accepting it , tnanked Bro . Wadsworth for the handsome banner piesented , and complimented him for the unique
mode he had adopted in showing his goodwill and kindly feelings towards the brethren of his lodge . Bro . F . T . Foulkes , l . P . M ., then occupied the chair as Installing Master , when Bro . J . R . Evans , S . W ., was presented for installation by Bro . Reginald Young , P . M ., P . Prov . Senior Grand Deacon j and Bro . C . Wadsworth , P . M . The ceremony of installation was performed
in a most perfect and impressive manner , and was highly appreciated by those who had the privilege of witnessing it , and the manner in vvhich the whole ceremony was gone through elicited the most hearty commendations of all present , and gave proof that Bro . Foulkes had applied himself assiduously to the mastering of the many details of this imposing ceremony . The W : M . then proceeded to

M ., in proposing the toast of "The Immediate Past Master , " spoke of tlie efficient manner in which he had discharged his duties whiEt in the chair , and in doing so presented him with a Past Master ' s jewel and a massive gold albert chain . The remainder of the evening was enlivened by the
musical efforts ot Bros . Vears , Org . 1289 ; Savage , P . M ., Batty , and Edwards , of 1609 , and was ot a most harmonious character , thoroughly enjoyed by the brethren , who expressed themselves highly delighted vvith the harmony and good feeling vvhich had characterised the whole proceedings . services during the past year was accorded to the retiring W . M ., Bro . Lees , on the proposition of the D . P . G . M ., seconded by Bro . Miles , reference being made by the latter to the Jubilee party held last April on the invitation of Ihe W . M . and Mrs . Lees , and to the visit of the Prov . Grand Master and his officers to the Gloucester Lodge during the past year . The vote of thanks was coupled
with a decision to present Bro . Lees with a Past Master ' s jewel ; and it was further resolved to vote five guineas from the lodge funds to the Southampton Masonic Benevolent Institution , in the name of Bro . Lees . After the transaction of the ordinary business , Bro . T . P . Payne said he had been requested to undertake the melancholy duty of proposing a vote of
condolence and sympathy vvith the widow , son , and members of the family of the late respected Bro . Dunlop , a P . M . of the lodge . He was sure they all felt as he did—that not only had the Freemasons of Southampton lost a worthy and esteemed brother , but that the town itself had lost a citizen who , during his many years' residence there , had been of great service to the community as a commercial
man . He did not know whether the Masons , as a body , would attend the funeral on the following day , but probably that matter would be left to the individual action of the brethren . The D . P . G . M ., in seconding the motion , thought it was not desirable to add much to what had already been said by Bro . Payne . Masonry in Southampton would for a long
time miss the genial face of their deceased Bro . Dunlop , who frequently attended the Gloucester Lodge in recent years , and was always particularly happy on installation days . Bro . Dunlop , last year , as Senior Grand Warden , occupied almost the highest position in the province which it was possible to attain . He ( the D . P . G . M . ) and one or two others had been spoken to on the subject of the
funeral , and although it was thought that attendance should be left to individuals , yet desiring that some tribute from the brethren generally should be paid to the memory of the deceased , they had directed that a wreath , bearing a card " From the Freemasons of Southampton , " should
be forwarded . The motion was carried in silence , and the lodge very appropriately followed up the vote of sympathy by voting £ 5 to the widow of a late brother of the lodge , who it was stated was in indigent circumstances in London . The usual installation banquet , owing to Bro . Dunlop ' s death , was not held .
