The business of the meeting having been brought to a termination , the lodge was resumed in the First Degree , whereupon votes of thanks were unanimously passed to the W . M . and to the brethren who had assisted him in working the Sections . Two brethren who had attended the meeting as visitors , viz ., Bro . Anderson , of the United
Military Lodge , 1536 , and Bro . Pye , of the West Lancashire Lodge , 1403 , were elected joining members . Lodge was then closed with the customary ceremonial , and the large assemblage of brethren , who had gathered together on this special occasion , dispersed . It may be stated that this was the third lime within the past two years that Bro . Milbourn has presided at the working of the Fifteen
Sections in this lodge of instruction , and that on each and every occasion he has fulfilled the duties of W . M . in a manner which has called forth the warmest encomiums from all concerned . The arrangements for the accnmmndatinn of the brethren who attended the meeting were efficiently carried out under the supervision of the host of the White Swan , Bro . Morgan .

JERUSALEM CHAPTER ( No . 185 ) . —An excellent convocation of this old chapter was held at the Freemasons' Tavern , Great Queen-strett , on Tuesday , the 10 th inst . Among those in attendance were Comps . P . Robinson , M . E . Z . ; J . Mander , H . ; T . C . Walls , P . G . D . C . Middx ., J . ; Harfeld , P . Z ., Treas . ; F . B . Davage , P . Z ., S . E . ; P . Wagner , I . P . Z . ; Moss , S . N . ; Stewart ,
P . S . ; Ellborn , 2 nd Assistant ; Whitley , Gispert , Serra , Smith , Pratt , and others . The minutes of the previous convocation having been read and confirmed , the ballot was taken for Bros . Louis Ratio , Fitzroy Lodge , and he being in attendance , was exalted to the Supreme Degree of the . Royal Arch in a manner that left nothing to be desired . Upon the conclusion of the impressive ceremony ,
the election of officers took place , with the following unanimous result : —Comps . Mander , M . E . Z . ; Walls , H . ; Moss , J . ; Harfeld , Treas . ; Davage , S . E . ; Stewart , S . N . ; Davis , P . S . Previously to the chapter being closed , it was moved by the I . P . Z ., seconded by the Treasurer , and carried with acclamation— " 'That a Past Principal's jewel should be voted to Comp . Robinson , for the very efficient manner in
which he had discharged the onerous duties of M . E . Z . " The banquet which followed the convocation was , as usual , capitally served by Bro . Best and assistants . Upon the removal of the cloth , tbe M . E . Z . proposed , in terse , but pertinent terms , the customary preliminary toasts , and they having been duly honoured , the l . P . Z . gave , in very eulogistic terms , "The M . E . Z . " In the course of his
reinaiks , he said that on his approaching retirement their First Principal would carry with him the good wishes of all the members of their old chapter . He ( Comp . Wagner ) had been pleased to witness that evening the excellent " working " of their worthy M . E . Z ., ami which exposition of the Royal Arch ceremonial of exaltation he sincerely believed would bear favourable comparision with the efforts
of any First Principal in the Onier . I his toast having been received with enthusiasm , the M . E . Z . briefly acknowledged the compliment . "The Exaltce " came next in order , and this toast having been received with excellent " fire , " Comp . Ralto duly responded . In proposing " The Health of the Second and Third Principals , " the M . E . Z . expressed his obligations to those companions for the
support they had given him during his year of office . In concluding his remarks , he particularly congratulated the chapter upon possessing so excellent a Second Principal in the person of Comp . Mander . They had unanimously elected that companion to the position of M . E . Z ., and he believed that this chbice could not have fallen on a better member of their distinguished chapter . The Second and
Third Principals having responded to this toast , "The Past Principals" followed , and this pledge was acknowledged by Comps . Wagner , Harfeld , and Davage . In giving " The Health of the Treasurer and Scribe E . " the M . E . Z . particularly mentioned the great services rendered by those worthy companions to the chapter during a long
scuts of years , and he hoped that they would be spared many years to give the old Jerusalem the benefit of their valuable assistance . Comps . Harfeld and Davage having replied , "The Officers '" toast was warmly proposed , and it was responded to by Comps . Moss and Ellborn . The Janitor ' s toast followed , and brought the proceedings to a conclusion .

letter was read from Bro . J . H . Wynne , resigning his office as Treasurer to the lodge , an appointment which he had held for sixteen years , and was received with universal expressions of regret . As a mark of esteem , Bro . After the transaction of the rest of the business , the lodge was closed in ample form , and adjourned to a banquet , served in Bros . Painter ' s most excellent manner , when the usual toasts were given lrom the chair with eloquence and good taste .
BRIXTON LODGE ( No . 234 ) . —A meeting of this lodge was held at the Surrey Masonic Hall , Camberwell , on Saturday , the 14 th inst . Tbe lodge was opened in due form hy Bro . C . P . McKay , W . Penny is a worthy example of the care that is taken bt the Past Masters to retain the ancient anil sacred rites of this beautiful Degree in Masanry , the officers performing their several duties in an excellent manner , amongst whom may be mentioned Bro . J . Bagshaw , P . M ., etc ., iVv ., who undertook the duties of S . D ., one of the
most important offices for the good working of the lodge . The advancement being ended , the installation was proceeded with , when Bro . H . J . Penny , as Installing Master , called upon Bro . A . Spears , P . M ., & c , & c , to present the W . M . elect , Bro . J . T . Nixon , which being done , the Installing Master put the several questions to the W . M . elect , and caused the dispensation from the Grand Master of
M . M . Masons of England to be read , the W . M . elect not having filled the office of W . M . in the Craft , and took his assent to the duties required of him as Master of the lodge _ The brethren below the rank of P . M . then retired from ' the lodge . The chair was then taken by Bro . A . Spears , P . M ., & c , when a Board of Installed Masters was formed and Bro . J . T . Nixon installed according to ancient custom into the chair of A . as Master of the ledge . The

Grand Master also addressed the lodge , and expressed his pleasure at visiting the lodge , also his satisfaction at the manner in which the several duties had been performed , and regretted through having to leave by an earlv train that he could not join the brethren at the
banquet . The lodge was then closed acoording to ancient form , and ' the brethren retired to the Britannia Hotel , where Mrs . Green had prepared one of her excellent banquets for which she is famous . Bro . J . T . Nixon presided , and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured , and with song and sentiment the evening passed until about ten o ' clock , when the brethren dispersed , happy to meet again .

W ., at the Unicorn Hotel , North-street , to mark their appreciation of the excellent services he had rendered to the lodge during his tenure of office . The chair was

D ., whose catering was all that could possibly be desired , the Chairman proposed " "The Queen and the rest of the Royal Family . " The toast was most heartily received , and Bro . J . Newman gave " The Officers of Grand Mark Lodge ,
Present and Past . " Bro . W . Hudson , P . G . A . D . of C , responded , and stated he was pleased to sec so many young and good Masons join the Mark Degree , which he believed to be the best and brightest of all Degrees , and trusted all would strive together to assist in maintaining the efficiency of the Degree and this lodne particularly . Bro . Lockyer v ; ave " The Prov . Grand Mark Lodge and its Officers ,
Present and Past . " He regarded the past officers with feelings of pleasure akin to affection , and held that in no Degree was there a greater tie of brotherly affection between the brethren than that experienced by the members of the Mark Degree . The present officers were worthily following their predecessors . Bro . Geo . Smith responded , and testified to the pleasure he and his colleagues felt , and still
feel , in carrying out the duties of their respective offices . The Chairman , in proposing the toast of the evening , viz ., " The Health of the W . M ., " enlarged upon the usefulness , activity , and great interest which had been shown by Bro . Hudson in promoting Mark Masonry , and especially the success of this lodge . Bro . Hudson responded . He was highly gratified , though surprised , at the compliment paid
him by his officers . 1 rue he had passed twice through the chair , but had at all times received great support from the brethren of the lodge . He trusted to see this lodge increase in efficiency and prosper . He eulogised the Secretary , Bro . Clarke , for the energy he had always shown in carrying out his onerous duties , and trusted the day was far distant when he would cease to be their Secretary , for
a better one never was appointed . Bro . Packham proposed " The Officers of the Royal Sussex Lodge , " and said words failed him to express how pleased he was that he had been received in this Degree . Bros . Charrington , S . The toasts were agreeably interspersed with songs , ably rendered by several of the brethren , and a very happy evening was spent , not to be easily forgotten by those assembled .

Grand Master also addressed the lodge , and expressed his pleasure at visiting the lodge , also his satisfaction at the manner in which the several duties had been performed , and regretted through having to leave by an earlv train that he could not join the brethren at the
banquet . The lodge was then closed acoording to ancient form , and ' the brethren retired to the Britannia Hotel , where Mrs . Green had prepared one of her excellent banquets for which she is famous . Bro . J . T . Nixon presided , and the usual loyal and Masonic toasts were proposed and duly honoured , and with song and sentiment the evening passed until about ten o ' clock , when the brethren dispersed , happy to meet again .

Present and Past . " Bro . W . Hudson , P . G . A . D . of C , responded , and stated he was pleased to sec so many young and good Masons join the Mark Degree , which he believed to be the best and brightest of all Degrees , and trusted all would strive together to assist in maintaining the efficiency of the Degree and this lodne particularly . Bro . Lockyer v ; ave " The Prov . Grand Mark Lodge and its Officers ,
Present and Past . " He regarded the past officers with feelings of pleasure akin to affection , and held that in no Degree was there a greater tie of brotherly affection between the brethren than that experienced by the members of the Mark Degree . The present officers were worthily following their predecessors . Bro . Geo . Smith responded , and testified to the pleasure he and his colleagues felt , and still
feel , in carrying out the duties of their respective offices . The Chairman , in proposing the toast of the evening , viz ., " The Health of the W . M ., " enlarged upon the usefulness , activity , and great interest which had been shown by Bro . Hudson in promoting Mark Masonry , and especially the success of this lodge . Bro . Hudson responded . He was highly gratified , though surprised , at the compliment paid
him by his officers . 1 rue he had passed twice through the chair , but had at all times received great support from the brethren of the lodge . He trusted to see this lodge increase in efficiency and prosper . He eulogised the Secretary , Bro . Clarke , for the energy he had always shown in carrying out his onerous duties , and trusted the day was far distant when he would cease to be their Secretary , for
a better one never was appointed . Bro . Packham proposed " The Officers of the Royal Sussex Lodge , " and said words failed him to express how pleased he was that he had been received in this Degree . Bros . Charrington , S . W . ; Newman , J . W . ; and Lockyer , M . O ., responded . Bro . H . E . Cox proposed "The Treasurer and Secretary , " highly
eulogising them for the efficient way in which they execute their duties , particularly the latter , with whom the brethren come more immediately in contact . Bros . Gen . Smith , 'Treas ., and W . The toasts were agreeably interspersed with songs , ably rendered by several of the brethren , and a very happy evening was spent , not to be easily forgotten by those assembled .
