The lodge was opened in due form , and the minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed . The lodge was opened in the Second Degree . The S . W ,, Bro . Curtis , W . M . elect ., was presented and obligated as W . M . The lodge was opened in the Third Degree , and the ceremony of installation was then proceeded
with , Bro . Wise , P . M ., officiating as Installing Officer . Bro . Curtis being duly installed into the chair of K . S ., which Bro . Burton , W . M ., then vacated , and delivered the final charges in a very effective and impressive manner . The lodge vvas resumed in the Second and First Degrees respectively , the W . M ., Bro . Curtis ,
appointing and investing his officers , and delivering the charges in a very able and impressive manner . The HON . SEC . pro tan ., then informed the W . M . that the next business of the evening was to elect and appoint Auditors of the lodge funds , also Hon . Treasurer and Hon . Secretary for the ensuing year .
Bros . Brown and McDougall were unanimousl y elected and appointed Auditors , and the day and hour fixed for their meeting . Bro . BURTON , W . M ., then rose to propose Bro . E . W . Hughes , Hon . Treas . pro tem ., as Hon . Treasurer for the ensuing year . Bro . Burton said that in making
that proposition it gave him very great pleasure in proposing Bro . Hughes , of the mother lodge , as , although not a very old member , he had shown his zeal for the Craft by the manner in which he had worked in order to reclaim that lodge of instruction from its long repose . The manner in which he had
carried out his duties as Hon . treasurer pro tem ., was , he felt quite sure , more than enough to prove to the brethren that they would never have cause to regret the honour they would confer upon Bro . Hughes , and he had no doubt that whatever had been done in the past b y Bro . Hughes , would be continued in the future .
This proposition vvas seconded by Bro . WISE , P . M ., Preceptor , and upon the W . M ., Bro . CURTIS , putting it to the lodge , it vvas carried unanimously . Bro . Hughes was then dul y informed by the W . M ., Bro . CURTIS , who added that he felt it was a very pleasing duty he was performing in notif ying to him his
appointment as Honorary Treasurer , and heartily congratulated him and the brethren for their choice . Bro . HuGHES , inreply , thankedtheW . M . and brethren for their kindness , and stated that he was at all times willing to do whatever might lay in his power for the good of the Order , and , after expressing his thanks to
Bro . Burton , W . M ., for the kind manner in which he had proposed him , resumed his office , and took up his duties forthwith . Bro . BURTON , W . M ., next rose to propose the Hon . Secretary for the ensuing year , and stated that he hoped the brother he was about to propose would be most
unanimousl y elected . In naming Bro . Deleay for that office , he felt sure he was only doing justice to one whom during his short term of office as Hon . Secretary pro tem ., had shown unwonted zeal and energy in his work for the Order , and he was sure that the work he had done for that lodge of instruction must have put
him to almost endless time and trouble . He further added that , although he only had the pleasure of a short acquaintance with that brother , he had particularly watched with very great pleasure his energetic manner of working , and he had had it from brethren present that the duties of his office had been most

effectually carried out in the past , and he had no doubt they would be continued by him in the future . The proposition was seconded by Bro . ROBERTS , J . W ., after which it was put to the lodge in the usual manner , and carried unanimously . The W . M . then informed Bro . Deleay of his
unanimous election , and congratulated him upon his appointment as honorary Secretary , stating that it vvas almost useless for him ( Bro . Curtis , W . M . ) to try to add anything to what Bro . Burton , W . M ., had already said , but he felt sure that Bro . Deleay had the entire welfare of that and the mother lodge at heart .
Bro . DEI . EAY replied in a very neat manner , stating that it at all time gave him great pleasure whenever he had time to spare to do what he could for the good of Freemasonry , and for that and the mother lodge in particular . He thanked the W . M . and brethren for their kindness , and hoped he would be able to prove as
satisfactory in the future as he had done in the past , and after thanking his proposer and seconder resumed the duties of his office forthwith . The W . M . rose for the third time . Bro . Hughes , Hon . Treas ., who had been previously elected W . M .
for that evening , was informed that he would be W . M . elect for the ensuing week—officers in rotation . Bros . Whitney and Shapcott were then elected as joining members . All business being ended , and after " Hearty good wishes , " the lodge was closed in the usual manner .
