It was true that it vvas not possible for everyone to attain the distinguished position of a Grand Officer , but all hoped to do so , and svhen it did come to one ' s turn to catch the eye of the speaker , it vvas none the less acceptable . He appreciated the compliment paid him as one of the Jubilee Grand Officers . The M . E . Z . had been good enough to say it vvas

26 years ago since he ( Comp . Terry ) became a member of that chapter , vvhich then met at the AVhite Hart , Barnes , and vvas kept by the father of one of the companions present that evening—Comp . During the past year they had had a First Principal vvho had done the

work and filled the chair to his own credit and to the credit of the chapter , leaving the funds nearly £ 30 better off than vvhen he assumed the position . Comp . Blasby had done more than that , having given them the sunshine of his countenance , and they had spent a most pleasant year of office . He had pleasure in presenting Comp . Blasby , I . P . He thanked the companions sincerely for the handsome testimonial presented to him as a reward for labour after many years . It vvas nosv 13 years

since he vvas exalted in the chapter , and it vvas a great pride to him to knosv he had filled the chair and joined a distinguished number of Royal Arch Masons . The past 13 years of his existence in that chapter had been years of great joy in many respects , for he had met such dear friends and companions . He had seen many pass asvay—he hoped to the Grand Chapter above—but there vvere four vvho

svere present at his exaltation . He trusted to live many years to wear the jesvel , and to still find the same happy faces present . "The Exaltee" having been duly honoured , the I . P . Z . gave "The M . E . Z ., " remarking that Comp . Bentley Haynes svas a well tried companion , svho had passed through all the offices of that chapter , vvith the exception of Scribe E .,

and had carried them out to the satisfaction of the chapter . Comp . Haynes had also passed the chair in tsvo other chapters , for he svas an ambitious and energetic Mason , svho carried out all his svork in an exemplary manner . Comp . Bentley Hayes , M . E . Z ., said he had been svith them about 12 years , and had elsesvhere tried to learn the ritual , for he had never but once missed a Tuesday night at

the chapter of improvement connected vvith the Rose of Denmark Chapter . He did his best to learn all he could , and he promised them that whatever svork he had to do , if it vvas not svell done there vvould be some reason for it . He had worked hard to make himself qualified for any position in R . A . Masonry , and he could tell them that Comp . Webb and others met every Tuesday and took any office in a way creditable to all . He hoped to have the ceremony

performed every time , and thanked the I . P . Z . for the kind manner in svhich he had spoken of him . Comps . C . H . Webb , P . P . G . S . B . Middx ., and Pearson , P . He had worked hard to make himself qualified for any position in R . A . Masonry , and he could tell them that Comp . performed every time , and thanked the I . P . Z . for the kind manner in svhich he had spoken of him . Comps . C . H . Webb , P . P . G . S . B . Middx ., and Pearson , P .
