The minutes of the previous convocation were read and confirmed . A ballot was taken , and proved unanimous in favour of Bro . R . Brown , S . W . 155 S , as candidate for exaltation , who was , by illness , prevented from being present . The following companions were installed and invested : Comps . J . W . Hartley , M . E . Z . ; H . Hooper , H . ; G . R . Langlev " , 1- ; R- F . Potter , Scribe E . ; G . Reynolds , P . S . ;

and W . Kite , 2 nd A . S . The other elected officers being absent , their investments were postponed . A vote of thanks was unanimously given to Comp . J . J . Marsh for the present of a ballot box . Three candidates were nominated for exaltation . The chapter was then closed , and the companions adjourned to an excellent banquet , served by Mr . Ballard , which gave great satisfaction to all present .

STOCKTON . Tees Chapter ( No . 509 ) . —The annual meeting of the above chapter was held at the Freemasons' Hall , Wellington-street , on the 12 th inst ., when Comp . J . F . Craggs , J . Burn , and T . F . Pearce were installed Principals for the ensuingyear . The ceremony of installation was very

effectively performed by the retiring Principals . The newlyinstalled M . E . Z . invested the following companions as his officers for the ensuing year : Comps . A . S . Fowler , P . Z ., D . C ; T . Bradley , Treas . ; I . H . Hart , S . E . ; G . F . Allan , S . N . ; W . Thorman , P . S . ; and B . R . Smith , Janitor . "Hearty good wishes" were given from Lodges 151 , 213 , and 216 , and the lodge was closed . The brethren subsequently partook of refreshments at the Globe Hotel , and a very pleasant evening was spent .

LEWES . Lewis Lodge ( No . 391 ) . —The installation meeting of this lodge took place on the 4 th instant , at the Freemasons' Hall , when Bro . S . R . Legg was dul y installed as W . M ., assumed the chair . The lodge was opened in the Second and Third Degrees . After the usual preliminaries , the ceremony of raising- was rehearsed , Bro . Battley being candidate . The W . M . gave the charge in

the Third Degree . The lodge was closed down to the hirst Degree . The 2 nd Section of the Lecture was worked by Bro . Read , assisted by the brethren . Bro . A . Cadbury-Jones was elected W . M . for the next meeting—the officers to be in rotation . Bro . J . N . Joseph was elected a member .

It was decided that the Fifteen Sections be worked as follows : the First Lecture on the 14 th October , and the Second and Third Lectures on the 21 st October . Bro . Read will be W . M . ; Bro . Brindley proposed that a hearty and cordial vote of thanks be recorded on the minutes of this lodge of instruction for the admirable manner in which the W . M . had carried out the duties of the chair for the first time in this or any other lodge of

instruction . Seconded by Bro . A . Clark , and carried unanimously . 'The W . M . made a suitable reply . Bro . G . Reynolds said , with the sanction of the W . M . and brethren , lie would be absent from his duties as Secretary till the first Thursday in November , Bro . F . M . Noakes kindly undertaking the duties of Secretary . Nothing further offering for the good of Freemasonry , the lodge was closed .
