and the ancient prestige connected with No . 131 for care and precision , vvith effect in its working , is not likely to be lost under the present W . M . and his officers , who were put through their paces by closing down the three Degrees in a manner that would have reflected credit to any lodge worked by officers of years' standing . At the conclusion of the installation , the usual banquet
took place at the Red Lion Hotel . The W . M . presided , and there were present , in addition to those already mentioned , Bros . W . J . Johns , P . M . 131 , P . P . G . Treas . ; T . L . GUERNSEY . —Mariners Lodge ( No . 168 ) . —On Wednesday , the 5 th inst ., the Masonic Temple presented a very gay appearance , the occasion being the installation of Bro . W . H . Lovell as VVorshipful Master for the ensuing year , to replace Bro . F . C Sparrow , whose term of office had expired . There were a large number of visiting brethren from the sister lodges , including upwards of 20 Past Masters . Bro . F . C . Sparrow acted as the Installing Master .
After the ceremony of installing , Bro . Lovell invested his officers as follows : —Bros . J . J . Quant , S . VV . ; J . G . Pickering , J . W . ; Rev . H . Millican , Chap . ; VV . de Jersey , Treas . j R . M . Smythson , Secj R . McGregor , S . D . ; L . Nicolle , J . D . ; W . H . Foote , I . G . ; R . Rovvcliffe , D . C ; P . James Benest and G . Gartell , Stwds . ; F . C Sparrow , I . P . M . ; and E . Biddescombe , Tyler . During the
Proceedings a very gratifying presentation vvas made to Bro . VV . de Jersey , P . M ., on his re-investiture for the eighth year as Treasurer . The testimonial , which consisted of a gold jewel , was presented by Bro . A . C . Quick , P . M ., who , in a feeling manner , referred to the services rendered the lodge by Bro . de Jersey during the 14 years he had been a member . The jewel ( manufactured by Bro . Geo .
Kenning , London ) , vvhich is of unique design , being a combination of the Past Master and Treasurer ' s emblems , bears the following inscription : — "Presented to Bro . W . de Jersey , P . M . Mariners Lodge , 16 S , in recognition ot valuable services as Treasurer , 1 SS 0-S 7 . " After the business of the meeting had been concluded , the brethren retired to the banqueting room , which had
been very tastefully decorated for the occasion , where a most fraternal and harmonious evening was spent . About 75 brethren were present at the installation and at the banquet . Dr . Hinton , M . A ., Mus . Doc , presided at the pianoforte , and several brethren sang between the speeches . After the usual loyal toasts had been duly honoured ,
Bro . Emra Holmes , P . P . G . R . Suffolk , proposed " The Visitors , " and , in doing so assured those present from the sister lodges , as well as those from distant parts , that Mariners Lodge vvas always delighted to receive them . He said that at a recent meeting of Doyle ' s Lodge , at which he regretted he vvas not present , the then W . M ., Bro . Clarke , had , in an able address on the history of Masonry
in Guernsey , strongly urged the formation of a Provincial Grand Lodge and the appointment of a Provincial Grand Master . _ He ( the speaker ) strongly urged the brethren to be unanimous in the matter , and suggested that each lodge should petition the Grand Master to appoint a Provincial Grand Master , and he thought the Queen's J ubilee could not be better remembered by the Masons there than by the
restoration of their Provincial Grand Lodge . In the Church of England it was always found that when a new diocese was created , and a Bishop appointed , the Church increased in power , and influence , and numbers , and he felt sure that it would be so in Masonry in Guernsey if a popular and influential P . G . M . vvas appointed to rule over them . The name of Bro . Colonel Barbenson , P . M ., Judge
of Alderney , had been suggested , and , without doubt , if that brother vvas appointed , the brethren could not have a better or more courtly old gentleman to fill that distinguished office . Bro . Sneath , P . M . Fidelis Lodge , responded , together vvith Bro . F . Clarke , P . M . Doyle's Lodge , and other brethren , also including one who hailed from a lodge in the Punjab .
Bro . Sneath took occasion to inform thebrethren of the financial position of the Masonic Temple , vvhich is gradually clearing itself of debt , and he recommended those who were not yet bondholders to take up the bonds , so as to free the building as soon as possible . Bro . Clarke thought , vvith the great amount of local talent in the Fraternity , a good Masonic concert vvould help in the same way . It vvas at a late hour before the brethren separated .
MAIN RIDGE ( Boston ) . —Lodge of Harmony ( No . 272 ) . —The members of this lodge celebrated the Festivalof St . John recently , at the Masonic Hall , when Bro . John Padley , P . P . G . S ., was duly installed W . M . for the ensuing year , vvhich ceremony was most efficiently performed by Bro . John Henry Tasker , I . P . M . The newlyappointed W . M . then invested his officers . About 20 of the brethren sat down to a splendid banquet
in the lodge room , provided by Bro . Clemow , of the Peacock and Royal Hotel . This vvas the first time that the new proprietor of the above favourite hostelrie had catered for the lodge , and commendation was universally expressed on the efficiency and liberality which were displayed . The provisions were excellent , and the wines of the choicest kind . Under the able presidency of the W . M . a most enjoyable evening vvas spent .
BATH . —Lodge of Honour ( No . 379 ) . —A meeting of this lodge vvas held on Monday , the ioth inst ., at Hetling House , when the following brethren were present : Bros , the Rev . John A . Lloyd , W . M . ; S . Loder , S . W . j Surgeon-General T . Ringer , J . W . ; Rev . F . Sanderson , Treas . ; H . Gulliford Hopkins , Sec ; Rev . F . W . Macdonald , S . D . ; Rev . J . C McConnell , J . D . ; and J . Ingle , I . G . Visitors : Bros . Herr Berndt , 1533 ; and
others . The minutes of the last emergency and regular meetings having been read and confirmed , the Treasurer's report was read and passed , after which Bros . S . R . McConnell , Rev . R . White , and Capt . Simson were examined and duly passed in a very able manner by the W . M . " Hearty good wishes " having been given , the Iodge vvas closed in due form , and the brethren afterwards retired to supper at the Castle Hotel .
HALIFAX . —St . James ' s Lodge ( No . 448 ) . — The annual meeting of this lodge was held at the Masonic Hall , St . John ' s-place , on Tuesday , the nth inst ., for the purpose of installing the newly-elected W . M ., Bro . W . D . Shoebridge . The lodge was opened in due form by Bro . J . T . Simpson , W . M ., and the ceremony of
installation was very ably performed by Brs . H . S . Holdsworth , P . M ., P . P . D . D . C The newly-installed VV . M . afterwards appointed and invested his officers as follows : Bros . J . T . Simpson , I . P . M . ; Charles Greenwood , S . W . ; H . S . Holdsworth , P . M . 40 S , P . P . D . D . C , J . W . ; G . H . Radcliffe , P . M ., Treasurer ; J . Jessop , Secretary ; A . At the conclusion of the installation , the usual banquet

Reports Of Masonic Meetings.
