W . T . Orde-Powlett , D . P . G . M . of North and East Ridings of Yorkshire , and Provincial Grand Officers , Present and Past . "
Bros . C . Waistell , P . M ., and R . S . Palliser , P . M ., responded in appropriate terms . Bro . Smith , P . M ., then proposed "The Worthy W . M . and Prosperity to the Lodge . " He said the toast properly fell to their Installing Master , but as he had known Bro . Warrior for a number of years Bro . Knowles had kindly handed it over to him . His opinion vvas that their new
W . M . was the right man in the right place , and he was certain that their officers were all brethren who vvould work hard during the year . He strongly advised them to have a lodge of instruction three or four days prior to their regular lodge , so as to enable their new officers to learn all the duties of the various offices , and be able to perform the various ceremonies . In conclusion he trusted they might
get through a large quantity of work this year . The toast was drunk with the customary honours , after which Bro . Dr . Hitchinson sang "The Holy Friar . " The W . M . thanked them heartily for the grand response they had given to the toast . He entirely approved of the formation of a lodge of instruction , and would do his best
to have one established . He trusted that during his year of office he might be enabled to promote the welfare and prosperity of the Anchor Lodge . The Worshipful Master then submitted " The Installing Master , " which was given vvith full musical honours j song—Bro . Pearson— " The Wolf . "
Bro . A . C . Knowles , P . P . G . D . of Durham , replied , and thanked them for the compliment they had paid him . His acquaintance vvith the Anchor Lodge began many years ago . He appreciated their kind invitation , and vvas always very glad to respond to it . He vvas not a great or a learned Mason , for Freemasonry , like everything else , had made rapid strides in progression , there being now some brethren
who could repeat the various ceremonies line for line and measure for measure , but as he vvas not a modern Mason he had endeavoured to give them the ceremony of installation that day in the old fashioned style . In conclusion , he congratulated Bro . Warrior upon his promotion to the position of W . M ., while he congratulated the lodge upon their selection . Song—Bro . Pattinson— "The Anchor's
Weighed . " Bro . T . J . Wilkinson , P . M ., proposed "The I . P . M . " It had been his privilege , together with other brethren from the Falcon Lodge , to annually visit the Anchor Lodge at the installation , and he was glad that on the present occasion the brethren had chosen one to preside over them who knew the requirements of their lodge , and who was in every
respect qualified for the position to vvhich he had been promoted . They knew in that ( the Anchor ) Lodge they had many able men , and he himself could testify that Masons whom he had known for 30 or 40 years had succeeded to the chair , and had filled the onerous position with dignity to themselves and honour to their brethren . One old friend —Bro . Chris . Palliser—was absent on the present occasion ,
but instead of the father , they had the son , who had taken up a position which showed that he was of Masonic birth , and worthy of his parentage . He trusted that their newlyelected Master might prove a noble warrior , and be prepared on all occasions to invite all visitors to try the temper of his steel . Masonry had noble claims upon all of them , and had of late years made great strides . He had studied
it , and had never found in it anything vvhich caused him to regret having entered its ranks ; but , on the contrary , had gathered a deal of grand information from its study . It was based upon so good and noble a system that if a man lived up to it he need desire nothing more . In submitting the toast of Bro . Nettleton ' s health he might say that it vvas his privilege and pleasure last year to be present when
he vvas installed in the chair , and he then kept silent on account of his health ; but he vvas glad to say that the impressions he then formed had been realised , and that Bro . Nettleton had upheld the dignity and the requirements of the important office , and , in addition , had left a good name
behind him . Song—Bro . Tweedy— "The outpost . " Bro . Nettleton thanked the brethren for their kindness , and said he had been amply repaid in knowing that the brethren were satisfied with the way in which he had discharged the duties of Worshipful Master during the past
year . Bro . Waistell , P . M ., submitted " The Visitors , " to which Bro . Z . Wright appropriately replied .

S . of Wks ., then presented to the lodge a handsomely framed tablet , containing a record of the names of the founders of the lodge and the names of the Past Masters . On the motion of Bro . G . J . W .
