La France Chapter ( No . 2060 ) . —if there is one thing more than another that demonstrates not merely the zeal , energy , and devotion , but equally the great administrative abilities , varied talents , and complete mastery of their duties , of those to whom H . R . H . the Grand Master has entrusted high position in the Craft , it is the

assured success and'tcontinued progressive prosperity of those lodges and chapters fortunate in possessing amongst their working members ofiicers of light and leading in Grand Lodge . Amongst this category we must distinctly mention this chapter , which dates its origin only from May , 1 SS 9 , but vvhich is now certainly one of the most flourishing chapters , not only as regards numbers , but in the importance

and high Masonic status of its members ; it is further remarkable as being the only chapter in England and under the English Constitution working in the French language . The ritual is absolutely similar to that in use in English chapters , a most careful translation having been made by Comps . Eugene Monteuuis and Henri Bue , both P . Z . ' s , and whose names guarantee the excellence of the work .

A meeting of this chapter vvas held on Alonday , the 17 th inst ., at the Cafe Royal , Regent-street , the Principals' chairs being occupied by Comps . Ernest St . Clair , as M . E . Z . ; Thomas Fenn , P . P . C . G . P ., as H . ; Frederick Mead , Deputy G . D . C , as J . Bro . Lewis Edward Beer , 2021 , having been duly introduced vvas exalted in an admirable manner by Comp . St . Clair , Comp . Alead giving the

historical and Comp . Fenn the symbolical lecture , whilst the mystical vvas delivered by the Al . E . Z . This business being completed , the election of Principals and officers was commenced , when Comp . Thomas Fenn vvas elected as M . E . Z . ; Comp . Frederick Alead , as H . ; Comp . Saillard , J . ; Comp . Hopkinson was re-elected Treasurer ; and Comp . Frank Richardson . D . of C A Past M . E . Z . ' s jewel was voted to Comp . St . Clair on his quitting the chair

of M . E . Z ., and certainly no outgoing Principal has more worthily deserved and gained this honourable distinction . After the completion of a few less important details the chapter vvas closed , and the companions dined together , when the usual loyal and Masonic toasts vvere duly proposed and honoured . Several guests were present , amongst whom vve noticed Comps . Sir George Harris , P . A . G . S . ; Dr . B . Cockburn , P . Z . ; and Dr . Chance . During the evening Comp . Dr . E . M . Lott favoured the company vvith some musical recitals .

La France Chapter ( No . 2060 ) . —if there is one thing more than another that demonstrates not merely the zeal , energy , and devotion , but equally the great administrative abilities , varied talents , and complete mastery of their duties , of those to whom H . assured success and'tcontinued progressive prosperity of those lodges and chapters fortunate in possessing amongst their working members ofiicers of light and leading in Grand Lodge .
