hoped the W . AI . would have good support from his officers , and Bro . Simon could rest assured of any assistance he vvas able to give . Bro . W . H . Lee , P . P . G . D . Jackson vvas next installed as W . M . by Bro . Foster , LP . AL , in a very impressive manner , and the
following officers vvere invested : Bros . C . J . Taylor , S . W . ; J . Potter , J . VV . ; J . Willing , jun ., P . AL , Treas . ; VV . M . Stiles , P . M ., Sec ; E . Evans , S . D . ; W . The W . M . initiated Air . Ernest Woolven in excellent style , and communications having been read , the lodge was formally closed .
After banquet in the Victoria Hall , the usual loyal and complimentary toasts received due recognition . Bro . H . S . Foster , LP . M ., said that for the first time he had the honour ol proposing the toast ol the evening—that of "The Worshipful Master "—and circumstances over vvhich he had no control compelled him to propose it . They had that evening installed a brother as W . AI . whose election was deservedly popular in the Strand Lodge , and they
had had a taste of his quality , which would convince those who witnessed the ceremony of initiation that they had seldom seen it worked better . It vvas no easy matter to come into the chair and work the initiation ceremony at once , but if the Worshipful Alaster worked for the rest of the year , as well as he had that evening , the traditions of the lodge would be fully maintained . As he knew the brethren vvere hovering between love and duty—love for the fragrant weed , and duty to their Worshipful Master—he
would ask them at once to heartily receive the toast , and wish the VVorshipful Alaster a prosperous year of office . Bro . F . Jackson . W . AI ., thanked the I . P . M . and brethren for the cordial proposition and reception of the toast . Whatever he had done that evening had been taken from the working of the Past Alasters whom he had tried to imitate . If he had been successful he vvas proud and pleased . When they hid such Past Alasters as Bro . James Willing , VV . AI . Stiles , and others , who had worked so well , it behoved the members to do their best . He had tried to
do that , and should continue to try during his year of office , and hoped to leave the chair with satisfaction to himself and credit to the lodge . The VVorshipful Master next proposed "The Installing Alaster and Past Alasters , " and said that Bro . Foster , LP . AL , had been a hard-working member ever since he was initiated by Bro . Willing , and so industrious had he been that he had worked up to his present proud position . Had
Bro . Foster not been a thoroughly deserving brother he would not have been allowed to go up step by step and obtain the pinnacle of a Freemason's ambition—the Alaster's chair . There vvere other Past Alasters present , including Bro . Willing . If he were to speak for an hour , it would be nothing new for the members to hear the capabilities of the Past Alasters extolled , but he would say that Bros . Willing and Stiles had worked well and heartily for the lodge .
Bro . H . S . Foster , LP . AL , thanked the W . AI . and brethren , and more particularly for the jewel presented to him , which was an earnest of vvhat he had done in the lodge . He had the honour of being an initiate in the Strand Lodge , and trusted that Bro . Willing was proud of those whom he had initiated . Bro . E . N . Dale , P . M ., also replied . Bro . J . Willing , jun ., P . M ., Treas ., in proposing "The
Alasonic Charities , " said there vvas no more experienced , amiable , and genial Alason than Bro . John Alason , who represented the Royal Alasonic Benevolent Institution that evening . There vvas also present Bro . AlcLeod , than whom no brother had done more for the Boys' School . He had the permission of the VV . M . and I . P . M . for saying that he ( Bro . Willing ) would represent the lodge on behalf of the Royal Masonic Institution for Boys , and hoped to receive
the hearty support of the members . Bro . John Mason , P . P . G . S . B . Middx ., said he remembered the birth and infancy of this lodge and was proud to see vvhat a giant it had become . He had often been invited but it had not been his good fortune to see its growth . The Royal Alasonic Benevolent Institution had kindly communications from the lodge that they were quite aware and familiar with the names of the members , because vvith two
such good beggars as Bros . Willing , P . M ., and Stiles , P . AL , and also Bro . Stacey , P . M ., their names vvere sent in from time to time . The three gems that adorned the Masonic crown vvere the wonder of the world , and at the Jubilee of the Benevolent Institution , ( , 69 , 000 was subscribed , which was an immense amount to get together . Bro . J . Al . AlcLeod , Sec . R . AI . I . for Boys , endorsed the thanks of Bro . Alason , and asked the brethren to do vvhat
they could once more for the Boys School . There was a peculiar pleasure in Bro . Willing acting as Steward , for he vvas a member of the Board of Management of that Institution . If there was anything connected vvith the Institution the brethren wished to complain of , if they would go to the fountain head and speak to Bro . Willing it would receive attention . He hoped the members would send their Steward up vvith a good list and one worthy of the best traditions of the lodge .
"The Initiate" vvas duly honoured , after vvhich the VV . AL gave " The Visitors , " which was acknowledged in cordial terms by the visiting brethren . " The Treasurer and Secretary " afforded Bros . Willing , P . M ., Treas ., and Stiles , P . M ., Sec , an opportunity of expressing their continued interest in the welfare of their lodge and their desire to promote its best interests . " The Ollicers" was given , and the Tyler's toast closed the proceedings .

Ihe minutes of the last regular meeting and of theemergency meeting held in September having been read and confirmed , letters of regret for non-attendance were read from several brethren , amongst which vvas one from Bro J . Henwood Thomas , S . W ., vvhich gave much pleasure to all the brethren . It vvas to the effect that his health was
slowly , but it vvas hoped surely , improving , and that he was looking forward to attending and resuming his position in the lodge—a hope which was cordially reciprocated by a || present . The ceremony of installation vvas then proceeded with , and Bro . W . Alolesworth St . Aubyn vvas duly inducted by the W . AI ., Bro . J . Roberts , into the chair of King Solomon . The following brethren vvere appointed
and invested as officers for the ensuing year : Bros J . Roberts , I . P . M . ; C V . Burgess , S . VV . ; c ' Rawle , J . W .. ; Rev . H . C . Shuttleworth , Chap . ; vv ! Lake , Treas . ; R . The charges vvere then ably given by Bros . W . J . West , J . £ ,, Barrett , and R . Greenwood . The W . M . then presented to the LP . AL , Bro . J . Roberts , the Past Master ' s jewel of
the lodge , accompanying the presentation by some congratulatory remarks , and expressing the gratitude of the brethren for the services vvhich had been rendered by Bro . Roberts , not only during his year of office , but from the first incep . tion of the lodge . The report of the Audit Committee was then received and adopted , and the lodge vvas closed . At the subsequent banquet about 60 brethren sat down , under the genial presidency of Bro . St . Aubyn .
The various toasts— " The Oueen and the Craft , " " The M . W . G . M ., the Prince of Wales ; the Pro G . M ., the Earl of Lathom ; and the Deputy G . AL "—were duly proposed and honoured , the latter—that oE the Earl of Mount Edg . cumbe—receiving , as may be supposed , a specially cordial and hearty recognition . The I . P . M . then gave the toast of "The VV . M ., Bro . Alolesworth St . Aubyn , " whom he welcomed tothe chair of the Cornish Lodge in the name of all the brethren ,
referring in the course of his speech to his many admirable qualities , the respect in vvhich his family had always been held , and the certainty that he would worthily fill the position to which the brethren had unanimausly elected him . Bro . St . Aubyn , in reply , heartily thanked the brethren for the honour they had conferred on him . He felt proul of possessing their confidence , and would vyork strenuously to maintain the good name which the Cornish Lodge had in such a short time attained .
The toastof "The LP . AL" was then heartily given , and as heartily received . Bro . VVest had occupied the proud position of the first W . AI . of the lodge , and its success was in no small measure due to the unwearying attention he had given to the interests of the lodge . Bro . West responded in a very happy speech , in the j course of which he gave many excellent suggestions vvhich 1
were of value , not only to members of tne i _ ornish Lodge , but to Masons generally . The speaker's long Alasonic career in Cornwall and his intimate knowledge , not only of Masonic matters , but of other interests in the old county gave point and value to his utterances . The toast of " The Visitors " followed , and vvas responded to by Bro . Lennox Browne , F . R . C . S ., and others . " The Treasurer and Secretary " was next given , Bros .
W . Lake and R . Greenwood briefly responding , and " The Officers of the Lodge , " acknowledged by the Senior and Junior Wardens , Bros . Burgess and Rawle , concluded a very successful meeting . We should not omit to mention that a very excellent musical programme was carried out under the able direction of Bro . K . E . Miles , of St . Paul ' s Cathedral , assisted by Miss Julia Jones , Aliss Bessie Dore , Bros . R . Bullen , Lawrence Fryer , and Atkinson .

Lee , W . M . 23 S 1 , J . W . 1 S 97 . Lodge was opened , and formal business transacted , after which Bro . J . E . Thomas was passed to the Second Degree . Bro . F . Jackson vvas next installed as W . M . by Bro . Foster , LP . AL , in a very impressive manner , and the
following officers vvere invested : Bros . C . J . Taylor , S . W . ; J . Potter , J . VV . ; J . Willing , jun ., P . AL , Treas . ; VV . M . Stiles , P . M ., Sec ; E . Evans , S . D . ; W . Alerrett , J . D . ; W . C . Archer , LG . ; W . S . Hooper , D . C ; T . C . Seary , Org . ; J . N . Hare , j . T . Buston , and J . W . Taunton , Stewards ; and R . Whiting , P . AI ., Tyler . The W . M . initiated Air .

W .. ; Rev . H . C . Shuttleworth , Chap . ; vv ! Lake , Treas . ; R . Greenwood , Sec . ; J . L . Barrett , S . D J . Curnow , J . D . ; R . Bullen , LG . ; Rev . E . Geard , D . C . ' and J . O . Widger and H . R . Redman , Stewards .
