B ., presided at the dinner . of the Pattern Makers' Company , of which he is this year the Master , at the Ship and Turtle Tavern , Leadenhallstreet , on Monday last . On Wednesday , the 12 th inst ., the members of the Rutland Lodge , No . 1179 , gave a ball in the Town Hall , Ilkeston , which was splendidly decorated for the occasion . There was a large attendance of ladies and gentlemen , the Masons all appearing in their varhd
regalia , so that the scene in the balroom was of the most animated and picturesque character . Nearly all the leading Masons in the town and district attended with their families , and the ball was a great success . Mr . T . Wardle's Quadrille Band supplied the music .
HOSPITAL OF ST . J OHN OF J ERUSALEM IN ENGLAND . —Prince Albert Victor , Sub-Prior , presided recently at a Chapter General of Ihe Order , held at St . John ' s Gate , Clerkenwell , when his Royal Highness Prince George of Wales , K . G ., was formally received as a Knight of Justice of the Order . The Empress Frederick of Germany has also joined the Order , and has accepted
the badge of a Lady of Justice . The Prince and Princess of Wales , with Prince George and the three Princesses , will leave Marlborough House to-day ( Fiiday ) for Sandringham , where they will spend Christmas , returning to town about the third week in January . Prince Albert Victor of Wales has consented to
preside at the 83 rd anniversary festival of the Society of the Friends of Foreigners in Distress , the day appointed for the festival being the 2 nd March . Commercial Travellers' Schools was held at the Hotel Metropole on Tuesday , Bros , the Lord Mayor and Edward Terry being among the principal guests . The subscriptions announced in the course of the evening amounted to £ 2200 .

The annual banquet and installation festival of the Peveril of the Peak Lodge was held on the 12 th inst ., at the Crown Hotel , New Mills , when there was a large gathering of members of the Craft from New Mills , Hayfield , Chapel-en-le-Frith , Buxton , Glossop , and other places .

S 13 , on Wednesday , the 19 th inst ., by the members of the Percy Lodge ot Instruction , No . 19 S , at the Jolly Farmers , Southgateroad , N . Bro . Charles Belton , Chairman of the Bisham Footpaths Preservation Society , has , in conjunction with
the Secretary , addressed a letter to the Editor of the Standard , stating that the objects for which the Association had been originally formed had been accomplished , and placing before the publican account of the proceedings adopted by the Association for the preservation of the public rights , and the results obtainable therefrom . Bro . Belton and the members of the Association are to be
congratulated on their spirited action in protecting the rights of the public , and we have no doubt that should their help be again required it will be forthcoming . On Saturday last , the Prince and Princess of Wales , accompanied by the Princes Albert Victor and George and the Princesses Louise and Maud , drove to Ealing , for the purpose of opening the Victoria Hall ,
erected by the inhabitants of the suburb to commemorate the Queen ' s Jubilee . The reception which their Royal Highnesses met with was must enthusias ic . numbers of people assembling along the line of route to cheer the Royal party , and Ealing itself being as gay and fesiive —in spite of the inclemency of the weather—as bunting and floral decorations of every kind could make it . The annual installation meeting in connection with the St . Tudno's Lodge , No . 755 , Llandudno , was to have been held on the 12 th inst . Owing to the illness of Bro . Burton , the W . M . elect , the ceremony was postponed until the next lodge . The Kensington memorial to the Queen in commemoration of the 50 th year of her reign , takes the form
of a statue , to be executed by the Princess Louise . A sketch model of the satue has been shown to the Committee for the memorial , and accepted . It represents the Queen as a young girl at the time of her accession . The site decided on is the east front of Kensington Palace , looking over the Round Pond and the avenue of trees eastward .
Princess Christian , on Thursday morning , visited the Princess Helena College , Ealing , of which institution she is the President , and distributed the prizes won in the past year to the scholars . The chair was taken Mr . G . C . T . Bartley , M . P .
It is announced in New York that such eminent actors as Messrs . Booth , Jefferson , Barrett , and Boucicault had formally joined the movement to secure the exclusion of foreign stock actors from the United States . About 20 other actors of second rank also favour the movement .

Messrs . Garden and Co ., Aberdeen , have just completed a monument to be erected in London to the
memory of Jenny Lind by her husband . It is in the form of a capitally finished cross of polished Swedish granite , measuring altogether about 10 feet in height . In the centre is a handsome marble medallion , beneath which is the following inscription : "In loving memory of Jenny Maria Lind , wife of Otto Goldschmiat ; born at Stockholm , October 6 th , 1820 ; died at Wynds Point , Malvern , November 2 nd , 1887 . LIFEBOAT RESCUE . — The schooner Hay and Catherine , of Arbroath , bound from Sunderland , with coal , while entering Arbroath Harbour , at two o'clock on Thursday morning , during stormy weather and a rough sea , drove eastward of the channel owing to a sudden
shitt of the wind , and grounded amongst the rocks at the back of the East Breakwater . The lifeboat William Souter , belonging to the National Lifeboat Institution , and stationed at Arbroath , was launched to the assistance of the vessel , and rescued the crew of five men .
The funeral of Bro . Sir William Pearce has been arranged to take place at 2 o ' clock , on Saturday , at ( jillingham Cemetery , near Chatham , in which neighbourhood Sir William owned a large estate . A special train will leave Victoria Station at noon for New Bro npton , for the convenience of friends , returning to town at 3 o ' clock . The Princess Christian , who was accompanied by her husband , visited Shadwell on Tuesday , for the purpose of opening a sale of work and Christmas fete , in aid of the restoration of Christ Church , Watney-street , It was resolved at a meeting of commercial travellers held at 37 , Milk-street , to present the Lord Mayor during his year of office with a marble bust of
himself , to be subscribed for by commercial travellers . The annual banquet and installation festival of the Peveril of the Peak Lodge was held on the 12 th inst ., at the Crown Hotel , New Mills , when there was a large gathering of members of the Craft from New Mills , Hayfield , Chapel-en-le-Frith , Buxton , Glossop , and other places .
The Fifteen Sections was worked at the New Concord Lodge of Instruction , No . S 13 , on Wednesday , the 19 th inst ., by the members of the Percy Lodge ot Instruction , No . 19 S , at the Jolly Farmers , Southgateroad , N . Bro . Charles Belton , Chairman of the Bisham Footpaths Preservation Society , has , in conjunction with
the Secretary , addressed a letter to the Editor of the Standard , stating that the objects for which the Association had been originally formed had been accomplished , and placing before the publican account of the proceedings adopted by the Association for the preservation of the public rights , and the results obtainable therefrom . Bro . Belton and the members of the Association are to be
congratulated on their spirited action in protecting the rights of the public , and we have no doubt that should their help be again required it will be forthcoming . On Saturday last , the Prince and Princess of Wales , accompanied by the Princes Albert Victor and George and the Princesses Louise and Maud , drove to Ealing , for the purpose of opening the Victoria Hall ,
erected by the inhabitants of the suburb to commemorate the Queen ' s Jubilee . The reception which their Royal Highnesses met with was must enthusias ic . numbers of people assembling along the line of route to cheer the Royal party , and Ealing itself being as gay and fesiive —in spite of the inclemency of the weather—as bunting and floral decorations of every kind could make it . Prince and Princess were met by an escort of the 19 th Hussars and a guard of honour of Middlesex Rifles , and when the ceremony had been performed , returned to Marlborough House . In the evening , Bro . Lord George Hamilton , who repsesents the Ealing Division of Middlesex , was present at a banquet held in honour of the occasion . The annual installation meeting in connection with the St . Tudno's Lodge , No . 755 , Llandudno , was to have been held on the 12 th inst . Owing to the illness of Bro . Burton , the W . M . elect , the ceremony was postponed until the next lodge . The Kensington memorial to the Queen in commemoration of the 50 th year of her reign , takes the form
of a statue , to be executed by the Princess Louise . A sketch model of the satue has been shown to the Committee for the memorial , and accepted . It represents the Queen as a young girl at the time of her accession . The site decided on is the east front of Kensington Palace , looking over the Round Pond and the avenue of trees eastward .
Princess Christian , on Thursday morning , visited the Princess Helena College , Ealing , of which institution she is the President , and distributed the prizes won in the past year to the scholars . The chair was taken Mr . G . C . T . Bartley , M . P .
It is announced in New York that such eminent actors as Messrs . Booth , Jefferson , Barrett , and Boucicault had formally joined the movement to secure the exclusion of foreign stock actors from the United States . About 20 other actors of second rank also favour the movement .
Bro . Lord Brooke , P . G . M . Essex , was on Tuesday returned as member of Parliament for the borough of Colchester , in place of its late representative , Colonel Trotter , who died last week from injuries received while out hunting . Messrs . Garden and Co ., Aberdeen , have just completed a monument to be erected in London to the
memory of Jenny Lind by her husband . It is in the form of a capitally finished cross of polished Swedish granite , measuring altogether about 10 feet in height . In the centre is a handsome marble medallion , beneath which is the following inscription : "In loving memory of Jenny Maria Lind , wife of Otto Goldschmiat ; born at Stockholm , October 6 th , 1820 ; died at Wynds Point , Malvern , November 2 nd , 1887 . "
LIFEBOAT RESCUE . — The schooner Hay and Catherine , of Arbroath , bound from Sunderland , with coal , while entering Arbroath Harbour , at two o'clock on Thursday morning , during stormy weather and a rough sea , drove eastward of the channel owing to a sudden
shitt of the wind , and grounded amongst the rocks at the back of the East Breakwater . The lifeboat William Souter , belonging to the National Lifeboat Institution , and stationed at Arbroath , was launched to the assistance of the vessel , and rescued the crew of five men .
The funeral of Bro . Sir William Pearce has been arranged to take place at 2 o ' clock , on Saturday , at ( jillingham Cemetery , near Chatham , in which neighbourhood Sir William owned a large estate . A special train will leave Victoria Station at noon for New Bro npton , for the convenience of friends , returning to town at 3 o ' clock . A large number of members of Parliament have expressed their intention of attending the funeral , and a deputation from Govan is expected to be present .
Bro . Joseph Jefferson was born in Philadelphia , in February , 1829 , in the house that still stands at the south-east corner of Sixth and Spruce-streets . He has been on the stage for no less than five and fifty years , for it was when he was but tour years of age when he made his first bow across the footlighis . Bro . Jefferson is now ,
