Master ' s Jewel , which had been subscribed to by nearly every brother . He hoped he would have the same success all through life as he had the last 12 months he had been Master of the lodge , and trusted he would live long to enjoy the pleasure of wearing it . Bro . J . W . JBooth responded , and said he had always done his level best to make the lodge a success and the brethren
happy . If he had given satisfaction , that was all he desired , and thanked them very much for the very handsome jewel they had presented him with . Other toasts followed , and a very pleasant evening was spent by contributions of songs and recitations from members of the lodge . The jewel was manufactured by Bro . George Kenning .

Sebastian Sellick to the chair of K . S ., in succession to Bro . W . H . Glass , whose term of office had
expired . Upwards of Go brethren were present , and apologies were received from 30 others on account of illness . The installation ceremony was impressively performed by Bro . K . C . Else , the D . G . M . of the province . The W . M . elect having been duly enthroned with Masonic honours , he ( the W . Ihe chapter having been opened , and the minutes of the last convocation conlirmed , the scrolling for the Principals and officers for the ensuing year was duly completed . Some other formal business having been disposed of , the M . E . Z ., Comp . Tudor Trevor , presented a beautifully illuminated and handsomely-framed address to Comp . Charles Letch Mason , P . Z ., P . P . G . H ., Treas ., in recognition of his
valuable services to the chapter , and the esteem in which he is held by its members . The Prov . G . Scribe E ., Comp . H . Smith , Comp . the Rev . Dr . Smyth , and the first Principals of the other Leeds chapters alto spoke in high terms of Comp . Mason ' s usefulness as a zealous and expert member of the Craft , and also of the regard entertained towards him throughout the province . Comp . Mason having gratefully acknowledged the presentation , the chapter was closed ,

FIRST ANSUAL BALL OF THE DORIC LODGE .
No . 2350 . On Wednesday , the 13 th inst ., the first annual ball connected with the Doric Lodge , No . 2359 , was held at the Town Hall , Withington . There was a large gathering of members and friends . The room had
been beautifully decorated for the occasion , and the cheerful room was very much enhanced by the beautiful and varied costumes of the ladies , and as dispensations had been granted for the regalia of the various Degrees to be worn by the brethren , the effect was very charming . Dancing commenced at 8 o'clock , the first
W . M . and his wife leading off . There was not a flag during the evening , and the whole proceeding was a great success , mainly due to the indefatigable exertions of Bro . George A . Myers , assisted by Bro . Fredk . Thomas as Master of Ceremonies . At midnight the
Knights Templars appeared and danced a quadrille . The arrangements for the supper were admirably carried out by Bro . and Mrs . Stretch , everyone present expressing themselves highly pleased with the arrange , ment for their comfort .

DISTRICT OltAXD LODGE OF MALTA . The half-yearly convocation of this District Grand Lodge was held in the Masonic Hall , Valletta , on Tuesday , the 24 th November , Bro . Colonel M . Ramsay , District G . M ., on the throne . There was a very numerous and representative attendance . The D . G . M .
delivered a lengthy and appropriate address , in which he announced marked progress in the district , both numerically and financially . A communication was read from the Grand Secretary acknowledging the congratulations of the district upon the occasion of the 50 th anniversary of the birthday of H . RH . the Prince of Wales , M . W . Grand Master .
The Melita Lodge of Instruction , attached to the St . John and St . Paul Lodge , No . 349 ( E . G . ) , is doing good service amongst the Malta brethren . Bro . Col . Moore , D . G . S . W ., is the active and very efficient
Preceptor . During the year the Degrees have been thoroughly rehearsed , and the Lectures are now being gone on with . Bro . Col . Ramsay , D . G . M ., has done much by his patronage and assistance to secure the success attained .
MALTA . St . John and St . Paul Lodge ( No . 349 , E . G . ) . —There was a large and influential gathering of the Craft at the Masonic Hall , Valletta , on Monday , the 2 ist December , upon the occasion of the installation meeting , when Bro . Major Collings , P . S . W ., was duly installed by Bro . Col . M . Ramsay , D . G . M ., the ceremony being
performed in a most efficient and impressive manner . There was a large Board of Installed Masters , evidencing the popularity of the VV . M . elect , who during the evening was the recipient of many congratulations . The usual Past Master ' s Jewel -was presented to Bro . Lieut . G . S . Q . Carr , upon
his leaving the chair after a brilliantly successful year of ofiice . After the business the brethren sat down to dinner in the hall , and a most delightful evening was spent . Bro . Worthington , United States Consul , was amongst the members present .
Leinster Lodge ( No . 387 , i . e . ) . —This lodge continues to progress . During the past year a great deal of useful Masonic work has been done under the Hiram of Bro . Sharpe , who vacated the chair on St . John ' s Day in favour of Bro . VV . Penning , S . W . The Malta Masonic Charities Association was very favourably reported on , and the help of the brethren in England in securing the return of the girl Maud England to the Royal Masonic Institution
for Girls was warmly recognised . District Grand Lodge was received by the United Brethren Lodge . No . 1923 ( E . C ) , Bro . Phillips in the chair . Absent brethren will be glad to hear that a Committee was recently appointed to carry out the complete renovation of the Masonic graves in Malta . The work has been satisfactorily carried out to the credit of the district and the Masonic body at large . We commend this work which recommends itself to home provincial lodges , many of our Masonic graves being in need of restoration .

Smyth , and the first Principals of the other Leeds chapters alto spoke in high terms of Comp . Mason ' s usefulness as a zealous and expert member of the Craft , and also of the regard entertained towards him throughout the province . Comp . FIRST ANSUAL BALL OF THE DORIC LODGE .
No . 2350 . On Wednesday , the 13 th inst ., the first annual ball connected with the Doric Lodge , No . 2359 , was held at the Town Hall , Withington . There was a large gathering of members and friends . The room had
been beautifully decorated for the occasion , and the cheerful room was very much enhanced by the beautiful and varied costumes of the ladies , and as dispensations had been granted for the regalia of the various Degrees to be worn by the brethren , the effect was very charming . Dancing commenced at 8 o'clock , the first
W . M . and his wife leading off . There was not a flag during the evening , and the whole proceeding was a great success , mainly due to the indefatigable exertions of Bro . George A . Myers , assisted by Bro . Fredk . Thomas as Master of Ceremonies . At midnight the
Knights Templars appeared and danced a quadrille . The arrangements for the supper were admirably carried out by Bro . and Mrs . Stretch , everyone present expressing themselves highly pleased with the arrange , ment for their comfort .

DISTRICT OltAXD LODGE OF MALTA . The half-yearly convocation of this District Grand Lodge was held in the Masonic Hall , Valletta , on Tuesday , the 24 th November , Bro . Colonel M . Ramsay , District G . M ., on the throne . There was a very numerous and representative attendance . The D . G . M .
delivered a lengthy and appropriate address , in which he announced marked progress in the district , both numerically and financially . A communication was read from the Grand Secretary acknowledging the congratulations of the district upon the occasion of the 50 th anniversary of the birthday of H . RH . the Prince of Wales , M . W . Grand Master .
The Melita Lodge of Instruction , attached to the St . John and St . Paul Lodge , No . 349 ( E . G . ) , is doing good service amongst the Malta brethren . Bro . Col . Moore , D . G . S . W ., is the active and very efficient
Preceptor . During the year the Degrees have been thoroughly rehearsed , and the Lectures are now being gone on with . Bro . Col . Ramsay , D . G . M ., has done much by his patronage and assistance to secure the success attained .
MALTA . St . John and St . Paul Lodge ( No . 349 , E . G . ) . —There was a large and influential gathering of the Craft at the Masonic Hall , Valletta , on Monday , the 2 ist December , upon the occasion of the installation meeting , when Bro . Major Collings , P . S . W ., was duly installed by Bro . Col . M . Ramsay , D . G . M ., the ceremony being
performed in a most efficient and impressive manner . There was a large Board of Installed Masters , evidencing the popularity of the VV . M . elect , who during the evening was the recipient of many congratulations . The usual Past Master ' s Jewel -was presented to Bro . Lieut . G . S . Q . Carr , upon
his leaving the chair after a brilliantly successful year of ofiice . After the business the brethren sat down to dinner in the hall , and a most delightful evening was spent . Bro . Worthington , United States Consul , was amongst the members present .
Leinster Lodge ( No . 387 , i . e . ) . —This lodge continues to progress . During the past year a great deal of useful Masonic work has been done under the Hiram of Bro . Sharpe , who vacated the chair on St . John ' s Day in favour of Bro . VV . Penning , S . W . The Malta Masonic Charities Association was very favourably reported on , and the help of the brethren in England in securing the return of the girl Maud England to the Royal Masonic Institution
for Girls was warmly recognised . District Grand Lodge was received by the United Brethren Lodge . No . 1923 ( E . C ) , Bro . Phillips in the chair . Absent brethren will be glad to hear that a Committee was recently appointed to carry out the complete renovation of the Masonic graves in Malta . The work has been satisfactorily carried out to the credit of the district and the Masonic body at large . We commend this work which recommends itself to home provincial lodges , many of our Masonic graves being in need of restoration .
